Many industries are likely to face stagnation or secular decline, which counter-intuitively may improve business performance if competition decreases. Conversely, other businesses are likely to face rising costs and diseconomies of scale. In addition, economies are becoming increasingly dominated by asset light businesses, and the need for infrastructure investments is declining over time. As a result, a large pool of capital is chasing a limited set of investment opportunities, which is driving up asset prices and compressing risk premia over time.Durant has undergraduate degrees in engineering and finance from the University of Adelaide (Honors) and an MBA from Nanyang Technological University (Dean’s Honors List). Thanks for the great article.

Can you please review some the statements which may not be correct.

Life span of satellite are now approaching 5 years (please check last MOC from Thales press release)instead of 2 years stated in the article.

SPIR is projecting to be operationally cash flow positive from now instead of 18 months stated by you. They are projecting positive free cash flow from the next quarter.

You mentioned lack of competitiveness in building satellites, however they have got pilots to manufacture satellites for clients like European space agency and €54Billion company Thales. These are to develop a brand new system to track airplanes. This can potentially be constellation 100 satellites.

They trusted SPIR for its 10 years of experience in building 175 satellites and successful demonstration of ADS-B technology.
Based on above, it can be argued that SPIR does have competitive advantage

Google deep mind and such AI models needs data - more data means better predictions. SPIR’s proprietary data can enhance models (even Govt weather agencies buy this data from SPIR). So, no AI model can replace source of the data.

Based on above, it can be argued that SPIR does have competitive advantage.

In fact, SPIR is the only company that can provide proprietary weather data, ship tracking (even when ship’s transmission is turned off) and air craft tracking on the same platform.

They can measure soil moisture, can track thickness of Ice in arctic, can tell whether a ship is loaded or not etc etc. Such data is very valuable.

thank you for the good write-up .... but I would tend to believe that Spire benefits from falling launching cost ... they don't launch the satellites but design, build and operate them in LEO ... Spire has to pay for the launch service (over 35 launch campaigns with ten providers as per investor presentation)
in addition, it looks like you missed the most recent award win which has the potential to be transformative for the company (as far as I understand the situation) ... representing the largest award win ever

@Barbell Investment Ideas under the radar? Am I supposed to load up on this news?

@beach_trader obviously, this development hasn't been picked up by Mr. Market yet... but as you know that's quite common on small-cap island .... problem here is that the company trades on market's perception/ appreciation of the current management team ... and that's why the stock trades at c. 90% below IPO price ... still see the possibility to recoup these 90% IPO losses ;) which would make it a 13-bagger for me
