A restaurant in Okubo, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan, is causing a big controversy on social media by revealing anti-Korean and discrimination consciousness targeting Koreans.

Okubo Bar, an Italian restaurant near the southern entrance of Okubo Station in Japan, posted a notice on the official account of the social media X (formerly Twitter) store on the 5th containing explicit intentions of discrimination against Koreans and Chinese.

"These days, diversity and tolerance are discussed, but Chinese and Koreans refuse because they do not intend to work with unpleasant thoughts," reads a notice in Japanese at the entrance to the store in question. The X post was viewed more than 13 million times in X alone on the 18th.

On the same day, another X post posted by the restaurant said, "If you don't spend money and have a bad attitude, you're usually banned," adding, "The Korean who came today is the latter, so you're out~"He also took issue with the attitude of Korean customers, saying, "It's neat ♪."

When the news spread, not only Korean netizens but also Japanese netizens criticized the store for revealing hate speech (hate speech).

Korean netizens are urging people to boycott the store by sharing the address and name of the store, saying, "I'm just stupid without knowing that I spit in my face," and "It's crazy because it's a Korean restaurant next door to Shin-Okubo, a Korean town in Tokyo."

The Japanese also said, "I am Japanese, but I will never go to a store that professes such discrimination," and added, "I hope such a store will disappear from the world." And it's better for the store owner to close quickly and engage in a job where no one is meeting," he said. "It's a disgrace to Japan. He voiced his self-reflection, responding, "What would you think if it said 'Japanese rejection' in a foreign country?"

Not only Korea, China, and Japan, but also the store's official Instagram account (okubobar) has been criticized by users for the store's disgust and discriminatory guidance. A netizen who criticized the store in English said, "We do not tolerate racism. I hope you remember that if this store continues to engage in racist behavior, there will surely be a price for it."

Anti-Korean controversy has often erupted against Korean tourists visiting Japan. In 2016, a sushi restaurant in Osaka purposely put a lot of wasabi (wasabi) in it and gave it to Korean customers, sparking controversy. In 2022-2023, a Korean traveler posted a similar 'Wasabi Terror' online, making headlines.
