Mo Dao Zu Shi Q

The cultivation classes in the Cloud Recesses have started, and Wei Wuxian is as mischievous as ever. From getting in trouble for cheating to tempting the ever-so-cold and stoic Lan Wangji into breaking one of the three thousand strict rules of the Gusu Lan Clan—he's done it all. Although almost everything Wei Wuxian does is against Lan Wangji's principles, an unbreakable bond forms between the two.

This chibi spin-off is a refreshing compilation of the hilarious and adorable moments of Mo Dao Zu Shi that shows not only how impish Wei Wuxian can be, but also the bashful side of the icy Lan Wangji.

This is a recommendation to watch as well as a comment that the guiding voice of this series isn't a voice I think is funny though because the characters of MDZS are SO amazingly hilarious this series is funny. During the first episodes I was overwhelmed by how adorable the chibi characters are and how much fun this anime is. This changed when a couple of stale episodes focused on things I didn't want and in ways I didn't want them to and I started watching these overjoyed by the art and kind of content with the structure/content of the show. I was ... disappointed in the amount of joy I got from this but I did enjoy it a lot.

Preliminary (13/30 eps)

9/10 because, although it's nothing special, it lives up to its marketing. I personally hate cute chibi stuff, but I guess there's nothing else to do when you're obsessed with MDZS.

I really like the length of the episodes. It's quick, light and heartwarming. The sentence "This series hopes to heal the audience who loves the main story of Mo Dao Zu Shi, but were “injured” by the melancholy plot of the drama." is true. It heals with cuteness and gayness.

This chibi series is really like f*ck the censorship. I'm not even going to say anything else, just... is nobody going to mention the advertisement ... where WWX says "everyday" and LWJ's ears grow red lmaooo the production team slyyyyy.

Honestly, MDZS is like a rollercoaster. So you want something healing after the main story and you come here, you heal, but then you see LWJ caring about WWX (which is more prominent than in the main story) and you get reminded how he had to wait 13 years... And you watch how JC and WWX are still friends...
Damn MDZS really isn't letting me rest.

Mixed Feelings

Mo Dao Zu Shi Q is funny, cute, and wholesome, pretty much exactly what’d you’d expect from a comedic chibi series based on a popular franchise. Each episode lasts about 5 minutes including the OP and ED, so the actual content of each episode is much shorter. It cuts out the angst of the series, leaving only relaxing moments and no actual plot. However, we do get to see new sides of the characters that are less pronounced in the main show. It's purely fanservice.

At the end of the day, I know why I’m here, and you probably do too. It’s a fun watch, but ... don’t expect plot development or outright shounen ai.
