Cybersecurity certifications get a bad rep nowadays

The market is filled with certified professionals who have every cert under the sun but yet cannot find a job.

Additionally, fresh graduates quickly become certification factories, hoping to land that high-paying job, but nothing happens .

The result has been a bit of a “backlash” against every cert from CompTIA Security+ to the mighty CISSP as just paper certs that do not help with your career.

I thought it would be a good idea to clarify some of these conceptions so that people do not get confused or demotivated when approaching certifications.

Myth 1 — Certification equals Job

There was a time when certifications like the CISSP or the CISA guaranteed a job a week after you attained it.

Certified professionals were in short demand, and employers were in desperate need; hence, jobs were ample.
