This is such a strong hook for the rest of the piece and pretty much grabbed me in to continue reading. I did find it dragging a bit towards the back half of the piece, but I feel that's more a matter of personal preference of writing rather than any sort of actionable feedback I could provide. All in all, though, this is a solid piece. +1
I think this works in theory but is hindered by the fact that the proposals that are there to help Elliot are only put together after he is already effectively dead. Stopping the whole sin transfer thing would be the right thing to do, but it really doesn't matter at that point just as it doesn't really create more 'ethical cost' (a phrasing that I don't think makes much sense) at that point, especially compared to dropping sins on new people.
I think a better way to do this would be to have the requests come after the start of dementia, but before Elliot is effectively dead and probably never let it fully reach that point. Right now, it's a -1
