The City of Butler is dismayed, shocked, and appalled over the July 13th shooting at the Farm Show grounds in Butler Township.
No matter what our political stance may be, we must all recognize that the people at the rally were engaging in both their right to assemble and their right to free speech. We must remember that any attack on these rights is an attack on all of our rights.
It is imperative that our citizenry feels safe as they exercise all fundamental rights. Violence is unacceptable.
It is with the deepest sincerity and sadness that we extend our sympathy and wishes for comfort to the family and friends of Corey Comperatore who lost his life in an inspiring demonstration of immense bravery.
We extend wishes for healing and strength to President Trump, Mr. David Dutch, and Mr. James Copenhaver who were all injured in the shooting.
The events of this day do not reflect the people of the City of Butler who extend to all wishes for comfort and peace.
