Are We In Love? 2024. Karina + StarryAI

When I am attracted to a man, I instinctively bat my eyelashes. When I am in love, I want to do everything for him. There is this joy in believing I am making him happy.

Doing whatever a lover asks of us doesn’t necessarily make them happy. But this is how it usually seems to us. This is so for both sexes. Love makes us want to submit to our lover’s requests.

The batting of eyelashes and submissive behavior of a woman in the state of attraction or being in love is what men have historically conceptualized as a woman being feminine (as depicted in art and literature, and now talked about on male podcasts). The behavior of a woman in love is considered the epitome of femininity even though it is usually a transient state and only activated by a given individual.

Men find the behavior of women in this state of ideated femininity highly desirable. Sex workers or gold diggers simulate a woman in love in order to mesmerize men.

Passport bros say they go to countries where women are more feminine. Women who want the funds will perform the expected femininity. Performed femininity is not the same as femininity. Although there can be overlap.

Actual femininty is what happens when a women is authentic with herself. It may appear very different from the fake performative femininity.
