MICHELLE. A LOT OF QUESTIONS AND A LOT OF AGENCIES INVOLVED HERE. YOU CAN SEE THAT THERE’S A STATE POLICE TROOPER BLOCKING OFF THE ENTRANCE TO THE VENUE WHERE THIS CAMPAIGN RALLY WAS HAPPENING YESTERDAY. AND THERE IS STILL THAT LARGE AMERICAN FLAG BEING HOISTED UP BY THOSE TWO CRANES. IT’S BEEN ILLUMINATED AS WE’VE BEEN HERE EARLY THIS MORNING, THE LATEST THAT WE’VE HEARD FROM THE FBI, WHICH IS TAKING THE LEAD IN THE INVESTIGATION INTO THE ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT, IS THAT THEY HAVE NOT IDENTIFIED A MOTIVE AT AN OVERNIGHT BRIEFING, THEY CONFIRMED TWO PEOPLE ARE DEAD. THE SHOOTER AND A BYSTANDER. TWO OTHER PEOPLE WHO WERE ATTENDING THE RALLY ARE IN CRITICAL CONDITION. OFFICIALS SAY THERE’S NO REASON TO BELIEVE THERE IS ANY OTHER EXISTING THREAT OUT THERE. BUT IN A STATEMENT, THE SECRET SERVICE SAYS THAT THE PERSONNEL SHOT AND KILLED THAT 20 YEAR OLD SUSPECTED SHOOTER HE ATTACKED FROM AN ELEVATED POSITION OUTSIDE OF THE VENUE. BUT AT THAT BRIEFING LAST NIGHT, A REPORTER ASKED WHETHER THERE HAD BEEN ANY THREATS IN RESPONSE TO THIS. I THINK THE VIDEOS AND PHOTOS WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL, AND I THINK THAT ONCE THE SHOOTER IS IDENTIFIED, ANYONE THAT HAS SPECIFIC INFORMATION ON THAT SHOOTER, THAT WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL AS WELL TO HELP US ASSESS MOTIVE. AND AND AGAIN, AS I MENTIONED EARLIER, WE ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT TAKING FOR GRANTED THAT THIS WAS A LONE WOLF ATTACK. AND SO WE WOULD BE LOOKING FOR ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION THAT MIGHT POINT US TOWARD ANYBODY ELSE THAT MAY HAVE HAD A HAND IN THIS. UNFORTUNATELY, THAT WAS THE WRONG CLIP THERE. BUT YEAH, THEY ARE ASKING FOR ANYBODY WITH INFORMATION, PICTURES, VIDEO TO CALL THE FBI AND GIVE THAT TO THEM SO THAT COULD AID IN THEIR INVESTIGATION. BUT THE OFFICIALS WENT ON TO SAY THERE HAVE BEEN NO SPECIFIC THREATS SO FAR. IT’S UNCLEAR WHEN THE NEXT BRIEFING MIGHT BE. THE NEXT UPDATE FROM THOSE OFFICIALS. AGAIN, THE LATEST INFORMATION THAT WE GOT FROM THEM WAS IN THE OVERNIGHT HO

Former President Trump injured in attempted assassination at Butler County rally; shooter, bystander dead
Former President Donald Trump was taken to the hospital after being shot in the ear Saturday while speaking at a rally in Butler County. Officials confirm that two people, the shooter and a bystander, are dead, and two people were in critical condition following the shooting. Law enforcement officials are saying this is being investigated as an attempted assassination. The FBI identified the gunman as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park. Trump was led offstage around 6:15 p.m. by his security detail to a vehicle after gunfire rang out. AP photos showed blood coming from the right side of his face near his ear. The former president was injured by gunfire, he later confirmed on social media. Trump said roughly two and a half hours after the shooting, "I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Anchor Chandi Chapman breaks down what we know about the shooting in the video below."Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!"Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., told ABC News that he had spoken to his father, who he said was "in good spirits," adding his father is "never going to stop."After leaving the hospital, Trump flew to New Jersey. He landed shortly after midnight at Newark Liberty International Airport and was taken to his Bedminster golf club.Trump was about 10 minutes into a speech at the Butler Farm Show grounds when he reached for his head and then ducked behind the podium for cover. The crowd began to scream and cover their heads.Surrounded by his Secret Service detail, the former president eventually stood back up, pumped his fist and was escorted from the rally. Secret Service put out a statement saying that their personnel shot and killed the shooter. "A suspected shooter fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside of the rally venue," the statement read in part. "U.S. Secret Service personnel neutralized the shooter, who is now deceased. U.S. Secret Service quickly responded with protective measures and Former President Trump is safe. One spectator was killed, and two spectators were critically injured. This incident is currently under investigation, and the Secret Service has notified the FBI." A spokesperson for Allegheny Health Network said those two patients were taken to Allegheny General Hospital in critical condition.ABC News learned from law enforcement that up to eight rounds were fired from an AR-style rifle. The shooter was at a distance of between 200 and 300 yards away. The FBI said that the early indication is that this was a lone-wolf attack.President Joe Biden said he has been briefed on the shooting at the rally and was "grateful to hear that (Trump)’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information."He said, "There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it."Video below: 2 injured people taken from Trump rally in ButlerIn a news conference, Biden, speaking from Delaware, said he had tried to call Trump to check on him. The president further denounced the violence that occurred at the rally, saying, "Everybody must condemn it."A White House official later confirmed that Biden was able to contact Trump as well as Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Butler Mayor Bob Dandoy. The FBI has taken over leadership of the investigation "alongside our partners at the U.S. Secret Service and state and local law enforcement." MICHELLE. GOOD MORNING. YOU’RE EXACTLY RIGHT. AUTHORITIES HAVE IDENTIFIED THAT GUNMAN AS 20 YEAR OLD THOMAS CROOKS FROM BETHEL PARK. RIGHT HERE IN OUR OWN BACKYARD. BUT LIKE YOU MENTIONED, NO MOTIVE YET. INVESTIGATORS TELL US THAT WILL LIKELY TAKE SOME TIME BEFORE THEY CAN EVEN BEGIN TO FATHOM HOW SOMETHING LIKE THIS COULD HAPPEN. NOW, AS WE ARE LEARNING THIS INFORMATION, WE ARE WORKING TO GET YOU MORE DETAILS, MORE ABOUT THE SHOOTER, MORE ABOUT HIS BACKGROUND, AND OF COURSE, MORE ABOUT THE MOTIVE. LIKE YOU MENTIONED. AGAIN, WE KNOW THAT CROOKS IS FROM BETHEL PARK. OVERNIGHT, OUR CAMERAS CAUGHT A HEAVY POLICE PRESENCE ALONG MILFORD DRIVE IN THE BETHEL PARK AREA. WE COULD SEE AN ALLEGHENY COUNTY POLICE BOMB SQUAD VEHICLE STATIONED ON THE ROADWAY, BUT EVENTUALLY OUR CREWS WERE ASKED TO HEAD TO A STAGING AREA AT THE HIGH SCHOOL. NOW, WE ATTEMPTED TO GO BACK TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD THIS MORNING, BUT STILL THE ROAD REMAINS BLOCKED FOR PROBABLY ABOUT A MILE IN ALL DIRECTIONS. AND ONCE AGAIN, WE WERE TOLD TO COME HERE TO THE HIGH SCHOOL. THEY’RE CALLING THIS A, QUOTE, STAGING AREA. NOW, DURING LAST NIGHT’S BRIEFING FROM THE FBI, STATE POLICE AND OTHERS, TOP OFFICIALS REMAINED TIGHT LIPPED, NOT COMMENTING ON THE SEARCH ON MILFORD AVENUE. AGAIN, WE ARE WORKING TO GET YOU MORE INFORMATION. ALL OF THIS RAPIDLY DEVELOPING OVERNIGHT. AGAIN, THOUGH, WE CAN CONFIRM THE ALLEGED SHOOTER, THOMAS CROOKS, IS FROM BETHEL PARK. HE IS DEAD AND THE INVESTIGATION INTO HIS MOTIVES IS ONGOING. THIS MORNING, JUST AS SOON AS WE HAVE NEW DETAILS TO BRING YOU,
