Handgun 103.5 Skill Builder (4 Hours)

Overview

Understanding the comprehensive nature of Handgun 103, this class provides students an opportunity to get more exposure to the core fundamental principles discussed throughout the Academy 100 pistol series.

Course Outline

• Understanding the importance and application of marksmanship fundamentals
• Competently complete multiple reloading techniques
• Analyze and Perform malfunction clearance procedures
• Incorporate basic movements into shooting fundamentals
• Establish a better understanding of sight picture and its relationship to acceptable accuracy
• Successfully implement "Target to Target" transition procedures
• Practice Single hand shooting techniques
• Isolate and refine Trigger Control

Equipment List

• Quality functional semi-automatic pistol - Full size and compact pistols only (semi-auto center fire pistols only - revolvers or .22 caliber pistols are not allowed)
  • No micro pistols or pocket pistols to include: P238, P938, P365, M&P Shield, Glock 43, etc.
• 3 magazines minimum
• Optional, loading devices
• Dominant side, hip-mounted holster or dominant side, belt-mounted holster
• Magazine pouch(es)
• Sturdy belt at least 1.5" wide
• Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning
• Clothing suitable for training in any weather, pants must have belt loops
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Earmuffs and earplugs

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH, New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Colorado Springs, CO locations.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 300 rounds pistol
• For Epping, NH courses, non-toxic, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping, New Smyrna Beach, and Colorado Springs facilities only
