A Federal judge today found American Airlines guilty of willful misconduct in the crash of its flight from Miami to Cali, Colombia, in December 1995, a decision that eliminates the damage cap specified by international law.

The judge's decision, which will be appealed, exposes the airline to millions of dollars of damages for each of the 151 passengers who died.

The plane hit a mountain after the crew entered the wrong data into a navigation computer.
