A momentous day in my academic journey to take over the charge of Director, IISER Mohali from Prof Purnananda Guptasarma in presence of Registrar Prof Jagdeep. Had enriching discussion with Deans n Heads to take IISERM to greater levels of excellence, relevance n global impact

It was my last working day at BHU with which I was associated since 1976. I carry with me values, memories n good wishes of colleagues n friends in Biotechnology, Institute of Science, SATHI, BioNEST n BHU to IISER Mohali to begin my new innings. Salutations to my Alma Mater

Dr S S Bhatnagar was Professor of Chemistry at BHU during 1921-24. On Feb 21 (his birth anniversary) BHU is starting Bhatnagar Memorial Lectures. First lecture will be delivered by Dr Shekhar Mande, DG, CSIR ⁦

President Droupadi Murmu presents Padma Shri to Prof. Prakash Chandra Sood for Literature & Education. An eminent nuclear researcher and scientist, he taught generations of nuclear scientists and was the founder-director of the first computer centre at BHU.

वर दे वीणा वादिनि वर दे, नव गति नव लय ताल छंद नव, नव पर नव स्वर दे। वसंत पंचमी तथा स्थापना दिवस के पवित्र अवसर पर काशी हिंदू विश्वविद्यालय परिवार के सभी सदस्यों को शुभकामनाएँ ।

Touched by the affection n feelings of colleagues in Department of Botany, BHU where I spent nearly 8 years as a student of B Sc, M Sc, n Ph. D.Thanks to Prof Ravi Asthana, Head n other colleagues who invited to felicitate n wish me well for my next innings. ⁦

The fraternity of Institute of Science, BHU feelsgreat joy n pride on selection of Prof P C Sood for Padma Shree award of 2023. He served Dept of Physics for 20 years n was Dean, Faculty of Science. He established 1st Nuclear Research Lab and Computer Center of BHU.

With its 30000+ students, 1600+ teachers in highly diverse subjects,n tight budget, BHU can’t be compared with small n focused institutions like IISc, IITs, IISERs on student-teacher ratio, publications n citations per faculty

Yet another good news for Institute of Science, BHU. Dr Geeta Rai Associate Professor in Dept of Molecular n Human Genetics has been included in the Subject Expert Committee on Life Sciences under Women Scientists Scheme, a flagship program of DST. Congratulations.

It was a prideful pleasure for us in Institute of Science,BHU to hear the story of repurposing 2-deoxy D glucose for the treatment of COVID-19 by INMAS led by Dr Anil Kumar Mishra, an alumnus of BHU. May the blessings of Malaviya ji be with you. ⁦

University is trying its best to make available Uttariya and Saafa for the unprecedentedly large number (37000) of graduands who will receive their degrees in the convocation tomorrow.

It’s matter of great joy n pride that Ms Rashmi Gupta (left), Research Scholar in our Dept of Geology is selected for 41st Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica. Her supervisor Dr Mayuri Pandey (right) had a similar trip to Antarctica in 1916.
