Recently, out of curiosity, I began researching what it takes to become a New York Times Best Seller.

I discovered that the criteria for this prestigious list can vary depending on the genre and the specific week in which the book is launched.

Generally, an author needs to sell between 5,000 and 15,000 copies in a single week to have a chance of making the list. These numbers can fluctuate based on the competition and the popularity of other books released at the same time.

Just for a rough estimate:

  • 7500 for Non- Fiction
  • 4000–8000 for Fiction

Now, let’s explore which are the books that have sold 100 million copies and beyond.

# Books sold in Billions

Remember, religious books like the Bible and the Quran have had a big impact across the world. They have been translated into many languages, which makes it hard to know exactly how many have been sold.

But what we do know is that these books have touched the lives of billions of people everywhere.
