It is located on the border between Katsuyama City in Fukui Prefecture, Kaga City in Ishikawa Prefecture (formerly Yamanaka Town), and Komatsu City. The Ishikawa Prefecture side is included in the Yamanaka-Dainichiyama Prefectural Natural Park along with Fujisharigatake. It is said to be a mountain dedicated to Dainichi Nyorai, but no ruins have been found. Since the shape of the mountain is helmet-shaped, it has been called "helmet".
There is a mountain trail from Masago Town in Kaga City (formerly Yamanaka Town) in Shinboji, Komatsu City, but the road from Masago is more maintained. About 3 hours and 30 minutes from the trailhead. It's about 5 hours from Shinbo, but after summer the grass grows so thick that you can't see the way. From Yokokura in Katsuyama City, there is a road to Echizen-Ko (trailhead - Echizen-Ko takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes), but after that, it is like an abandoned road.
What made this mountain famous was the shipwreck that claimed the lives of six young people on New Year's Day in Showa 42. It was feared as a "magic mountain", but on the other hand, the number of climbers increased rapidly after that. An evacuation hut has been set up at the top of Kagako to prevent another distress from occurring.
