Sometimes, features are created with best of intentions, but in practice those features turn out to be an annoyance. One such example is remembering the last used camera.
Whoever at Samsung had the idea to launch the last used camera probably thought they do users a favour because "remembering the last used camera" sounds like a feature at first. But just like mandatory pull-to-refresh, the downside only becomes apparent in real-world use. The utility of that "feature" is far outweighted by its downside.
On several occasions I was unable to capture moments because my last used camera was the front camera, so the front camera was launched and I ended up with a useless selfie as the moment I wanted to capture passed by behind the phone.
I could not find any setting to set the default launched camera. "Settings to keep" only has an option to always launch in photo mode, but no option to always launch on the rear camera.
Is there any way to launch on the rear camera every time? Having to pay attention to exit on the rear camera is annoying.
