To all in the United States of America, At the core of our nation's foundation lies the fundamental principle of due process—a cornerstone of justice that ensures fair treatment and protection of individual rights. The right to due process is not merely a legal formality; it is a moral imperative that safeguards against arbitrary deprivation of life, liberty, and property. As we navigate the complexities of our modern world, it is essential that we reaffirm our commitment to the principles of due process. Whether in matters of law, governance, or personal conduct, adherence to these standards is paramount to preserving the integrity of our nation and securing a prosperous future for generations to come. Our children are the inheritors of the world we shape today, and it is our responsibility to create a society rooted in values of fairness, integrity, and respect for human dignity. By living up to the standards of due process and embracing principles of justice and equality, we lay the groundwork for a future built on strong family values and a commitment to the well-being of all. Let us come together as a nation, united in our dedication to upholding the rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution. By living by these standards and principles, we ensure a brighter and more promising future for our children and the generations yet to come. Sincerely, Jacob Russell Boyce https://lnkd.in/gA5WbzVs

As Congress prepares to wrap up its summer recess following Labor Day, it is time to raise our voices about the issues that matter to us. If you are a supporter of arts and culture, advocacy efforts must focus on the imminent floor votes on upcoming appropriations legislation that will significantly impact crucial cultural programs, including the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), and arts education. It is important that you encourage your elected Members of Congress to rally behind the President's FY 2024 budget request, which calls for $211 million each in funding for NEA and NEH. In the previous year, the arts community united successfully to advocate for an impressive increase in NEA and NEH funding to a historic sum of $207 million for FY 2023, reflecting a notable 15 percent rise. Unfortunately, this year the House has proposed diminishing these budgets to $185 million each, whereas the Senate has approved consistent funding at $207 million. Please reach out to your Members of Congress today to express your support for the President's budget proposal and your opposition to any measures hindering our artistic community's growth. Simplify the process with the Arts Action Center! They've streamlined the procedure for you. They've composed a pre-written message; just input your information, and it will identify your congressional representative and deliver the message. It's advocacy made efficient and hassle-free, taking just a few minutes of your time. https://lnkd.in/gWM-G_SF

On the heels of Juneteenth, we wanted to share information about a group that's doing the hard and important work of ensuring every American - no matter what race - has the right to live in a thriving community: The Redress Movement. The Redress Movement initially emerged in response to Richard Rothstein's book, The Color of Law, which documents the intentional laws, covenants, and processes that created housing segregation along with other seminal works published in recent years. Awareness of these truths, coupled with the unprecedented participation of 20 million Americans of all races and ethnicities in the spring and summer of 2020, in Black Lives Matter demonstrations, convinces us that a new movement to redress racial segregation is possible, if only we take the steps needed to help organize it. In response to the book, a group of national civil rights leaders, convened by Ted Shaw, the former President of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and Director of the Center for Civil Rights at the University of North Carolina, decided to create an organization to take on redressing racial segregation. The New Movement to Redress Racial Segregation, as it was initially named, was formed. 2021 was spent raising the initial funds that would allow the organization to be formally launched in early 2022 as The Redress Movement. Drawing on her lifetime of social justice activism, Fania Davis depicts the essence of Restorative Justice, an emerging approach that seeks to move us from an ethic of separation, domination and extreme individualism to one of collaboration, partnership and interrelatedness. Rooted in Indigenous views of justice and healing, this rapidly expanding global movement invites us to make a radical shift from either-or, right-wrong, and us-versus-them ways of thinking. https://buff.ly/3ujtFwm
