In Derbent, militants brutally killed the rector of the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, Archpriest Nikolai Kotelnikov, by cutting his throat. Moreover, terrorists broke into the Orthodox Church on Trinity Sunday almost before the church was closed after the evening service.
Archpriest Nikolai Kotelnikov gave 40 of his 66 years to serving God; he was also a participant in the mission to bring the Holy Fire from Jerusalem. In the 80s he was sent from Stavropol to Derbent. The Orthodox priest did not refuse help to anyone. The priest killed by militants is survived by his wife, three children and grandchildren.
