Creators don't migrate to other platforms, because moving to other platforms that are not Google related, are against the terms of service, and can get you banned from them. YouTube has the largest possible viewing area, the most creators, and the most video uploads daily compared to much smaller spaces like Odysee and Rumble. YT = More rules, but more views.

I think you misunderstand. The new youtube ads will be baked into the videos during the upload's processing, so downloading the video with yt-dlp or something similar is still going to download those baked in ads

why do that when you can just set up a proxy on a Linux box and have yt-dl handle anything you send as it parses links your send it via ssh?

I use combo of Adblock Plus and AdBlocker Ultimate. But hopefully their new experiment will really backfire on them and viewership is lost. Maybe then more content will jump ship onto Odysee, etc.

This is about server-side ad injection directly into the video file. Ad-blockers won't work in this case.

Regarding alt tech Bitchute is another alternative that allows private viewing (no private information needed for an account) and virtually no censorship, or at least it does for now as it has effectively been bought off by venture capitalists recently..

I am very happy to see this site being built on an open source code to preserve freedom of speech going forward (I assume this is still the case?), but am a bit surprised to see the relatively small amount of content creators here. Is this due to some censorship on this site discouraging people, or coming along after sites like Bitchute and Rumble, or something else? I would be curious to know as this seems strange and I don't really want to mess around with a site that would censor outside of extreme violations of decency or legal reasons.

I was told that Bitchute was censorship free, Post Covid. I started to host videos to break the Genocidal Covid narratives and then I discovered that my comments on my own content went missing. After that, I deleted ALL my content from the platform and moved here. I also have hosted a few things on Rumble because I enjoy their comment system, but I have observed videos going missing there as well.

To this day, I have yet to see anyone who remains impartial with opinions, observations and content. Seems that they all Censor in one way or another. Internet is getting very bad with book burning the last four years, although it has been bad for the past 25 years at least.

It's sickening. Content creators who upload purely out of compassion shouldn't be forced to have that crap on their videos. Plus, being non-monetized means you don't even get any of the revenue from those ads, I think (I'm not an expert, that's just a logical assumption).

I had reworded a response over a dozen times, and still the comment got deleted. There was a time I could evade deletion but the algorithm is so triggered that nearly everyone has their comments removed. I do not understand why they do not remove comments entirely and only allow mainstream Media to host content. Would be like ripping off the band-aid and letting it bleed to death.

Strangely, local copies of the data also mysteriously disappeared of my computer as well. I since have two copies of everything, one offsite, so I can audit what files changed. Since doing that, I haven't had issues with my files going missing, but my videos do go missing on this platform.
