The problem of low viewership
Dear Odysee Community,
Today, our point of discussion is focussed on the unfortunate truth that in present day experience, posting to Odysee doesn't necessarily gain much viewership compared with YouTube.
We hear comments such as "I post to Odysee and I get no views" or "On YouTube I get 1000 views and on Odysee I get like 5".
These concerns are valid, and it would be disingenuous to deny them. However, when comparing to YouTube, it's important to remember that while YouTube boasts hundreds of millions of users, the distribution of content across its user base is actually quite low.
We are also committed to not inflating view counts with fake views to create a false impression of popularity, a common practice in the social media space.
This means, we really need to put in the work together to become a meaningful force in the world.
The best things that we can do to gain views really are the most obvious:
- If you're a creator, emphasise as much as possible that the best way for your community to watch you is through Odysee.
- Try releasing on Odysee before other platforms and encourage your community to watch you on Odysee instead of elsewhere.
- Release exclusive only to Odysee and letting your community know that they have to come to Odysee to watch everything you've got.
- Tell your favourite creators to join Odysee and post more to help the growth of platform and network (More on this network later).
- Tell people about the Watch on Odysee plugin - the benefit provides viewers with the ability to circumvent ad
A lot of these ideas essentially come down to word of mouth, but these principles are effective.
What do you guys think are effective ideas for gaining viewership?
