- From https://www.ghacks.net/2019/01/25/mozilla-to-remove-firefox-screenshot-upload-functionality/ :
- > Mozilla revealed that the local saving option is "considerably more popular" than the upload option. The organization made the decision to remove upload functionality to "offer a simpler user experience".
- What a load of crap. Mozilla wanted to save storage. The "simpler" user experience is just an afterthought. One additional button doesn't affect simplicity.
- > Mozilla published overall usage statistics stating that Firefox Screenshots was used by over 20 million people who captured nearly 180 million screenshots in 2018.
- Mozilla didn't want to pay for storing the screenshots anymore. While it is their right, at least they should have been honest about it. They can't even be honest about obvious things like these. They should have told their users "sorry, we can't afford storing your screenshots anymore", none of this dishonest "simpler user experience" nonsense to dodge admitting the reality.
- It's not the removal of the feature I have a problem with, and similar services exist anyway. It's the blatant dishonesty.
