Becalm: Intelligent Monitoring of Respiratory Patients
IEEE
Ver publicaciónThe Becalm project is an open and low-cost solution for the remote monitoring of respiratory support therapies like the ones used in COVID-19 patients. Becalm combines a decision-making system based on Case-Based Reasoning with a low-cost, non-invasive mask that enables the remote monitoring, detection, and explanation of risk situations for respiratory patients.
The minimal canonical form of a tensor network
Ver publicaciónTensor networks have a gauge degree of freedom on the virtual degrees of freedom that are contracted. A canonical form is a choice of fixing this degree of freedom. For matrix product states, choosing a canonical form is a powerful tool, both for theoretical and numerical purposes. On the other hand, for tensor networks in dimension two or greater there is only limited understanding of the gauge symmetry. Tensor networks have a gauge degree of freedom on the virtual degrees of freedom that are contracted. A canonical form is a choice of fixing this degree of freedom. For matrix product states, choosing a canonical form is a powerful tool, both for theoretical and numerical purposes. On the other hand, for tensor networks in dimension two or greater there is only limited understanding of the gauge symmetry. Here we introduce a new canonical form, the minimal canonical form, which applies to projected entangled pair states (PEPS) in any dimension, and prove a corresponding fundamental theorem. Already for matrix product states this gives a new canonical form, while in higher dimensions it is the first rigorous definition of a canonical form valid for any choice of tensor. We show that two tensors have the same minimal canonical forms if and only if they are gauge equivalent up to taking limits; moreover, this is the case if and only if they give the same quantum state for any geometry. In particular, this implies that the latter problem is decidable - in contrast to the well-known undecidability for PEPS on grids. We also provide rigorous algorithms for computing minimal canonical forms. To achieve this we draw on geometric invariant theory and recent progress in theoretical computer science in non-commutative group optimization.
Explanations on Smart Stores
CEUR WS
Ver publicaciónNowadays, it is common to encounter artificial intelligence in most automated decision-making systems. A great example is the recent introduction by many companies of smart stores that completely automated the checkout process, eg Amazon Go or Tao Cafe. However, although there is a clear call for a better understanding on how automated decisions are taken, there is no research available regarding explanations on smart stores to the best of our knowledge. In this paper, we address this concern…
Nowadays, it is common to encounter artificial intelligence in most automated decision-making systems. In this paper, we address this concern by introducing a simple and effective way to generate human-understandable explanations for different smart store users. To achieve this, we propose a CBR system that reuses templates of explanations that are retrieved and adapted to match new situations.
Smart Stores Technology
Ver publicaciónSmart stores technologies exemplify how Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things can effectively join forces to shape the future of retailing. With an increasing number of companies proposing and implementing their own smart store concepts, such as Amazon Go or Tao Cafe, a new field is clearly emerging. Since the technologies used to build their infrastructure offer significant competitive advantages, companies are not publicly sharing their own designs. For this reason, this work…
Smart stores technologies exemplify how Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things can effectively join forces to shape the future of retailing. With an increasing number of companies proposing and implementing their own smart store concepts, such as Amazon Go or Tao Cafe, a new field is clearly emerging. Since the technologies used to build their infrastructure offer significant competitive advantages, companies are not publicly sharing their own designs. For this reason, this work presents a new smart store model named Mercury, which aims to take the edge off of the lack of public and accessible information and research documents in this field. We do not only introduce a comprehensive smart store model but also work through a feasible detailed implementation so that anyone can build their own system upon it.
