Introduction

During 2022 Citizen released 261 new models. Of the new models twenty were announced in 2021 but not released until 2022. There were also 4 models documented below, but not included in the stats, that were announced in 2022 but will not ship till 2023. There were 63 limited edition models, making up ~24% of all releases, and totalling 65,957 units.

The most commonly used calibre for new models in 2022 was the simple three handed E031 Eco-Drive (14 models), followed closely by the B620 Eco-Drive with 60 minute chronograph, date, and 24 hour indicator (13 models). A total of 58 different calibres were used in new models released during the year.

Citizen has a limited number of model sub-brands compared to many other watch brands. The vast majority of models in Japan are included in the general “Citizen Collection” category. In other markets these models are given alternate branding, but this is not consistent between countries and in some areas is then broken down into a massive number of seemingly random categories. Dividing the general Citizen Collection category into around three different categories would make a more logical division of models and make it easier when searching their websites and allow additional branding opportunities.

It is quite difficult to track new Citizen model announcements as, unlike Seiko, models are not launched globally with a unified announcement. The same model is often launched in different markets months or even more than a year after their introduction elsewhere. Consequently it is difficult to determine what is actually new. 

An example of this could be seen when Citizen USA announced the NB6004-83E and NB6005-05L automatic divers in May 2022, when they had been launched in Europe almost a year earlier. The release delays are also not consistent, for example Citizen Europe announced the JY8078-52L Blue Angels Skyhawk as a new model in November 2022, while the same model had been released to the US market in mid-2018.

The lack of a uniform product launch schedule means that there is no real excitement about a watch release or hype around an announcement. When products ship it is not on a worldwide basis so you do not get that second large push as customers get the products into their hands and share their initial thoughts and excitement. 

Another thing making it difficult to find information on Citizen releases is the inconsistent website designs. It seems that each region has a completely different site design and the information available varies wildly. Some countries have information like release date, while others do not even note which models are new or allow sorting by release date.


Attesa

As part of the Light in Black 2022 collection the AT8049-61W was a limited edition of 1500 units. This is the fourth variation of the "LIGHT in BLACK" series that was first introduced in 2015 and this year the signature color is green. The coloring and dial patterns represent the "vital power of plants" that continue to regenerate toward the future as long as there is light. The watch is powered by an H800 Eco-Drive calibre, with a Duratect DLC Super Titanium case that is 41.5mm diameter and 9.7mm thick.

Created in collaboration with Nissan, two limited edition models are inspired by the new Nissan Z-car models that are marketed as the "Fairlady Z" in Japan. The first model (AT8185-89E) has a tachymeter scale and crown detail in "Ikazuchi Yellow" and a dial pattern representing the dot design used on the seats of special purpose cars. The second model (AT8185-97E) has a "Ceylan Blue" tachymeter ring and crown detail, with a dial inspired by road asphalt. Both models feature the Z logo on the crown and Nissan logo on the case back. The models have Super Titanium cases measuring 42mm in diameter and 10.8mm thick. They have a sapphire crystal and H804 Eco-Drive calibre with radio synchronization capability. These two models are also the first to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Attesa branding from Citizen. Each model is a limited edition of 1700 units.

Citizen Japan has announced the "Blue Universe" series of three models celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Attesa brand. All models have black super titanium cases with blue Duratect DLC details, and black dials with a glittering finish representing outer space.

The AT8187-75E has a 42mm diameter and 10.8mm thick case housing a H800 Eco-Drive calibre with radio sync functionality. This is a limited edition of 1900 units.

A set of pair models were released in the “Dear Collection” with the theme Silent Snow. The AT8240-74L has a stainless steel case, with platinum colored Duratect coating, measuring 41.5mm in diameter and 9.7mm thick. It utilizes the H800 chronograph and world time Eco-Drive calibre with radio sync functionality, and has a flecked blue dial representing falling snow. This is a limited edition of 2000 units and pairs with the xC model EC1160-62L.

Celebrating 30 years of multi-band radio sync watches, Citizen has announced four new DENPA Limited Models in the YOAKE COLLECTION. In 1993 Citizen introduced the world’s first multi-band radio sync watch with the calibre 7400. They followed this with the calibre 9410 & 9415 Eco-Drive model in 1996 where the antenna moved from the prominent center of the dial to the left side of the case.

The first of the anniversary models is the Attesa AT8254-61E, a limited edition of 1600 units that will ship in January 2023. It has a Super Titanium case measuring 41.5mm in diameter and 9.7mm thick, with a H800 Eco-Drive radio sync calibre.

Three models featuring the triple calendar moonphase 8730 calibre were announced in December last year but began shipping in January this year. These were the BU0060-09H with a gray dial on a strap, the BU0060-68E with black dial and bracelet, and the BU0065-64E with bracelet and black dial with golden accents. All three models feature titanium cases measuring 42 x 12.2mm.

The second model in the “Blue Universe” collection was the CB0217-71E. It has a black super titanium case with blue Duratect DLC details measuring 42.5mm in diameter and 10.1mm thick. It utilizes a H145 Eco-Drive radio sync calibre. This was a limited edition of 1600 units.

The white dialled CB1120-50C, and black dialled CB1120-50G have dials with Roman numerals at the 12 and 6 positions The Super Titanium cases measure 38 x 9.3mm, and house a H149 radio sync Eco-Drive calibre.

Another model in the 2022 Light in Black series is the CB3015-53W. This is a limited edition of 1300 units. It has a Duratect DLC Super Titanium case measuring 40mm diameter and 9.3mm thick, with a H128 Eco-Drive calibre.

Two new models were added to the Attesa ACT line. These were the CB3030-76E with a black dial and vertical pinstripe dial, and CB3035-72E with black dial case and bracelet. Both models have Super Titanium cases measuring 39.5mm in diameter and 9.7mm thick and utilize the H128 Eco-Drive radio sync calibre.

Another model celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Attesa range is the CC4044-53E limited edition of 1000 units produced in collaboration with the ispace "HAKUTO-R" private lunar exploration program, that is expected to launch around the end of the year.

The watch uses Citizens Duratect DLC coated Super Titanium, which is also used on the "HAKUTO-R" landing gear. The bracelet and bezel are created from a new material "Crystal Titanium" that forms non-uniform crystallization when the titanium is heat-treating at a higher than usual temperature and then cooled. The distinctive pattern that is created in the Crystal Titanium is replicated on the multi layered dial featuring stacked rings, indexes, and sub-dial rings. The case back features an exploded image of the "HAKUTO-R" lander.

The Super Titanium case measures 44.3mm in diameter and is 16mm thick. The watch is powered by the F950 Eco-Drive GPS sync calibre that is capable of receiving a time signal in just three seconds. Other functions include a 1/20th second chronograph with a 24 hour counter, dual time function, and approximately 5 year battery life from a full charge when the power save function is active.

A pair of chronograph models were introduced with the blue dialled CC4050-18L with a urethane and titanium strap, and the black dialled CC4055-65E with a Super Titanium bracelet. Both models have sapphire bezel inserts and Super Titanium cases measuring 44.6mm in diameter and 15.4mm thick. They utilize the F950 Eco-Drive GPS sync calibre that can receive a time signal in a minimum time of three seconds.

The final model in the “Blue Universe” series was the CC4066-69E. It has a 44.6mm diameter and 16mm thick case with a sapphire bezel insert and blue Duratect DLC details. The model is powered by a F950 satellite wave GPS calibre. This is a limited edition of 1000 units.

Citizen L

Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Citizen L series, a number of models were introduced in the “Ambiluna” line designed around the theme of "earth, water, fire, wind". These are the EM1003-05X “earth” with rose gold colored case, EM1003-48X “earth” with yellow gold colored case, EM1005-00L “water” with a blue graduated dial, EM1005-42L “water” with a different dial transition, EM1006-07A “wind” with white dial and strap, EM1006-40A “wind” with champagne dial and golden colored bezel, and EM1007-47E “Fire” with black case and red dial. All models have 34mm cases that are 7.1mm thick and utilize the E031 calibre. The strap on the watches is made from WHOLEGARMENT® that is partly made of polyester fiber ECOPET® recycled from collected PET bottles and clothing. The dials for all models utilize a "structural color" ink developed by FUJIFILM that shifts in color similar to a morpho butterfly. All models have a single diamond at the 12 o’clock marker, the 10th Anniversary EM1007-47E has diamond markers at 3, 6, 9 and 12, and a golden marker at 10 indicating the anniversary and is a limited edition of 1050 units.

Three models with an offset dial in the case and diamonds were added as the Arcly Collection. The EW5522-46E was a limited edition of 500 units with a golden colored case and black dial with roman numerals and five diamonds, the EW5533-15D was a limited edition of 50 units with a mother of pearl dial and 9 diamonds, the EW5533-23W was a limited edition of 40 units with a green mother of pearl dial and 9 diamonds.

A rectangular stainless steel cased EW5590-62A has a white dial and striped glitter markings. The watch was supplied on a mesh bracelet and also came with an additional blue “ECOPET” strap.

The rectangular cased EW5593-05D has a mother of pearl dial, and the EW5593-13X has a green colored dial. Both models have rose gold colored cases measuring 21.5 x 7.5 x 28.2mm, with faceted sapphire crystals, and the B035 calibre.

The EW5593-64D with mother of pearl dial, and EW5593-72X with green glitter dial, and golden case measuring 21.5 wide, 28.2mm lug to lug and 7.5mm thick and uses the B035 Eco-Drive movement. The watches have golden colored mesh bracelets and an additional red and brown “ECOPET” strap respectively.

The EW5593-81D is one model from a pair of watches that were part of a campaign titled “New TiMe, New Me” supporting women living in Payatas, which is famous as the largest garbage mountain in the Philippines. The watch has a golden colored case measuring 21.5 wide, 28.2mm lug to lug and 7.5mm thick and uses the B035 Eco-Drive movement. The model is a limited edition of 800 units and is provided with an original hand-embroidered towel.

The two tone EW5596-66X has a pink dial and stainless steel bracelet. The EW5597-63L has a gray case and bracelet with a blue glitter marked dial. The model's cases measure 21.5 wide, 28.2mm lug to lug and 7.5mm thick and utilize the B035 Eco-Drive movement. The watches have mesh bracelets and an additional pink and blue “ECOPET” strap respectively.

CZ Smart

Three additions to the Citizen CZ Smart Hybrid lineup were introduced with the steel cased JX1001-51E, black cased JX1006-58E, and golden colored JX1009-50E. All models have 44mm stainless steel cases and utilize the YF20 quartz movement. The watches feature a LCD display for notifications, fitness tracking, world time, calendar, chronograph, and dual time functionality, along with a set of traditional analogs hands for the main timekeeping capability.

Eco-Drive One

Three Eco-Drive One models were announced in late December but began shipment in January. These were the first models to include the new Eco-Drive One 8845 calibre that features a seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock, while maintaining the 1mm thick movement size (previous Eco-Drive One models did not feature a seconds hand).  The black dialled AQ5010-01E and blue dialled AQ5010-01L, both use a stainless steel case with Duratect Platinum surface treatment. The white dialled AQ5012-14A comes with a stainless steel case with Duratect Pink surface treatment. All three watches measure 36.6mm in diameter and 4.5mm thick, weighing 22g. 

An Eco-Drive One model, the AR5064-57W, with a forest green dial was released as a limited edition of 100 units. It has a black Duratect DLC stainless steel case measuring 38.0mm in diameter and 3.88mm thick. The model is powered by the 8826 Eco-Drive calibre that has a thickness of 1mm and consists of 85 individual components. 

Exceed

The AS7156-62E is another model in the DENPA Limited Models in the YOAKE COLLECTION that celebrates 30 years of multi-band radio sync watches. This has a black dial with golden colored markers and hands. The super titanium case measures 38 x 6.9mm and it houses a H113 Eco-Drive radio sync calibre. This model is a limited edition of 500 units and will be released in January 2023.

Celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Exceed brand, two sets of “pairs” models were introduced with the AT9130-69W and EE1010-62W having a silver and blue color scheme, while the AT9134-68W and EE1014-61W had a rose gold two tone design. The larger models have super titanium cases measuring 41mm in diameter and 11.9mm thick, and are powered by a H820 Eco-Drive calibre with world time functionality. The smaller models have cases measuring 29.2mm in diameter and 8.8mm thick. They utilize the H296 calibre with world time and sun/moon functions. All the models feature a distinctive three ring bezel design that symbolizes the past, present, and future of the brand.

Another duo of models celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Attesa brand were a set of pair watches. Both models are inspired by the theme “Moon Road” where the moonlight reflected on the sea surface forms a straight line created before and after the full moon. Both models have a mother of pearl central section that is divided into vertical sections representing the moonlight reflecting off the water. The Super Titanium cases have bezels with three rings with pink gold colored Duratect coated and a central polished ring. The larger AT9134-76F has a case measuring 41mm diameter and 11.9mm thick, and utilizes the H820 Eco-Drive model with world time function. The EE1014-70F has a case measuring 29.2mm and 8.8mm thick, and has a H296 calibre with world time and sun moon indicator. Both models were limited editions of 300 units.

A set of "Milky Way" pair watches were released to celebrate Tanabata (七夕) that occurs on July 7th. This is when, according to a Chinese legend, the two stars Altair and Vega, which are usually separated from each other by the milky way, are able to meet. On the watch dials the two stars are pictured, and at 7:07 they are joined by the hour and minute hands. The CB1080-61L has a stainless steel case measuring 38 x 9.9mm, and H149 radio sync Eco-Drive calibre. The EC1120-67L has a stainless steel case measuring 29.2 x 8.1mm, and a H246 radio sync Eco-Drive calibre. Both have blue to black graduated dials with golden flecks and diamond markers at 12 and are limited editions of 400 pieces each.

Two pair models were introduced with a patterned dial inspired by the "Avenue of Metasequoias" located on the Makino Plateau in Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture. This tree-lined road is reflected in the white dial that is contrasted against the golden colored markers, logo and hands. The CB1110-70A has a H149 calibre and 38 x 8.5mm case, and the ES9370-71A has a H060 calibre and case measuring 26.6 x 7.7mm. Both have sapphire crystals and Super Titanium cases and bracelets, in addition to the bracelet each model is also supplied with a brown crocodile leather strap. The Eco-Drive movements in both models support radio sync functionality and a quick Direct Flight mode to quickly switch between different time zones. Both models are limited editions of 300 units.

Two pair models inspired by Cherry Blossoms were released as limited editions of 300 units. The CB1115-50A has a dial inspired by cherry blossoms floating on the surface of a river. The Super Titanium case measures 38 x 8.5mm, has a sapphire crystal, and utilizes a H060 Eco-Drive movement. In addition to the bracelet this model is provided with a brown crocodile leather strap with blue stitching. The ES9375-51A has a Super Titanium case measuring 38 x 8.5mm, a sapphire crystal, and utilizes a H060 Eco-Drive movement. In addition to the bracelet this model is provided with a brown crocodile leather strap with pink stitching.

Another model in the 2022 “Light in Black” series was the CC3057-57W. It has a Super Titanium case with black Duratect DLC that measures 43.3mm in diameter and 14.7mm thick. It is powered by a F150 Eco-Drive calibre. This was a limited edition of 500 units.

A pair of two tone ladies models were introduced with both featuring roman numerals and diamond markers on the dial. The ES9474-67W has a round case measuring 24.8mm in diameter and 7.9mm thick, that houses a white dial with a textured pattern around the outside. The ES9484-55W has a tonneau shaped case measuring 24.7mm wide and 8.2mm thick, with a light pink dial and textured ring pattern. Both models use the H060 radio sync Eco-Drive calibre.

Kii:

The EG7045-62D is a limited edition model with 500 units. The model is inspired by fresh snow and the mother of pearl dial has a diamond at the 12 o’clock marker. The rose gold colored stainless steel case is 14.3mm wide and 7.5mm thick. The watch utilizes a G620 Eco-Drive calibre.

Promaster

Also from the 2022 “Light in Black” collection the AS7146-58W was a limited edition of 600 units. It has a Super Titanium Duratect MRK + DLC case measuring 43.5mm in diameter and 14.1mm thick and is provided with both a bracelet and rubber strap. It is powered by an H112 Eco-Drive calibre.

The BJ7136-00E is part of the Promaster Sky series and has a slide rule bezel and central 24 hour display. The golden colored bezel contrasts with the 42.5mm black stainless steel case and green dial and strap. The watches use the B877 Eco-Drive calibre.

A green colored Promaster "Eco-Zilla" BJ8057-17X has a black 48mm stainless steel case with a water resistance of 300m. The watch uses a reinforced polyurethane band and is provided with a strap extension. An Eco-Drive B873 calibre powers this model and provides a 180 hour power reserve.

The BN0154-01X has a green dial with a black bezel insert and stainless steel case measuring 44mm in diameter. The watch uses an Eco-Drive E168 quartz calibre.

Another green colored model was the BN0157-11X. This watch has a black colored stainless steel case measuring 44mm in diameter and using the Eco-Drive E168 movement.

The new Citizen Promaster BN0225-04L diver was inspired by the whale shark. The model has an E168 Eco-Drive calibre housed in the super titanium case measuring 45.8mm in diameter and 14.3mm thick. The dial has a spotted pattern reminiscent of the whale shark that is pictured on the case back. Part of the sales will be used to support the marine conservation activities of "Conservation International (CI)" , an international nature conservation organization. This was a limited edition of 5000 units.

The BN0226-10P has a golden colored dial and bezel, and comes in a lugless Super Titanium case measuring 45.8 x 14.3mm. It has an E168 Eco-Drive movement, and the watch is supplied with golden colored divers tank packaging.

Another model inspired by their original 1982 diver design was introduced with the BN0227-17X. It has a fully lumed dial and comes in a Super Titanium case measuring 45.8 x 14.3mm with a E168 Eco-Drive movement.

Three models inspired by the classic 2006 “Orca” dive watch with the highly distinctive design style were released. These were the black dialled BN0230-04E with steel case, blue dialled BN0231-01L with steel case, and black dial and black cased BN0235-01E. All models have stainless steel cases measuring 46mm in diameter with an image of an Orca on the case back. There is a heavily domed mineral crystal and the watch is powered by an E168 Eco-Drive calibre.

A trio of models were added to the Promaster Sky Collection, with the green dialled CB5004-59W, blue dialled CB5006-02L, and CB5009-55E with red bezel. All three have 45mm diameter stainless steel cases and utilize the E660 Eco-Drive calibre with radio sync functionality.

The CB5037-17X Promaster Land is a chronograph with a green dial, sapphire crystal, and grey stainless steel case measuring 44.6mm in diameter. The E660 radio sync Eco-Drive calibre has a chronograph, alarm, perpetual calendar and world time functions.

A pair of models utilizing the classic Aqualand design were released with the blue sunburst dialed JP2000-67L and lume dialed JP2007-17W. Both watches have a stainless steel case measuring 44mm in diameter (51mm with sensor area) and 14mm thick. The JP2000-67L comes with a bracelet and the JP2007-17W has a silicone strap. The classic Ana-Digi C520 movement provides dual time display, depth sensor, maximum depth alarm, maximum dive time alarm.

Two European exclusive limited edition Aqualand models were the green dialled JP2007-17X, and the brown dialled JP2007-17Y. These models have the same case sizes as the previous Aqualands and also use the C520 calibre. These models were not limited in production quantity, just distribution region.

The JY8074-11X ana-digi model has a grey ion-plated 45.4mm diameter stainless steel case measuring 13.4mm thick, a sapphire crystal, green dial and golden pilot's rotating slide rule bezel. The radio sync Eco-Drive U680 movement has a 43 city world time function, perpetual calendar, chronograph, alarm, timer, dual time. The watch provides 200m water resistance.

A trio of Skyhawk models were added to the lineup with the two tone JY8084-17H with golden colored bezel, JY8086-11A with white dial, and JY8086-89X with red dial. All models have stainless steel cases measuring 47mm diameter and 13.9mm thick. They utilize the ana-digi U680 Eco-Drive calibre with radio sync functionality.

The JY8127-59E is a new Promaster Skyhawk A-T black model. The black ion-plated stainless steel case is 45.6mm in diameter and 13.8mm thick. The watch is powered by the ana-digi U680 radio sync Eco-Drive calibre.

Another Skyhawk A-T model was the Blue Angels JY8128-56L with a 46mm diameter stainless steel case with a blue ion-plated bezel and blue dial. The watch is powered by the ana-digi U680 radio sync Eco-Drive calibre. The Blue Angels insignia can be seen on the case back, and the watch comes in a yellow flight helmet styled box. The watch is a limited edition of 9999 units.

A Citizen Asia exclusive model was the NB6008-82X “Green Anaconda” diver. The model has a green dial and 46mm diameter DLC titanium case with a golden colored bezel insert. The watch has a sapphire crystal and is powered by an automatic 9051 calibre. It meets the JIS2 anti-magnetic standard and has an exclusive box.

Two Citizen mechanical 200m ISO compliant divers were released with the black dialled NB6021-17E and blue dialled NB6021-68L. Both models are powered by the 9051 automatic calibre and housed in super titanium cases measuring 41 x 12.3mm with a sapphire crystal. The design for these watches were inspired by a Citizen Challenge Diver produced in 1977 that was recovered from an Australian beach in 1983 still operational despite being covered in barnacles.

Eight automatic Promaster dive models were announced continuing the range of colorways available for this design. These were the white dialled NY0150-51A, green dialled NY0151-59X, blue dial two tone NY0154-51L, green dial and black cased NY0155-07X, lumed dial and black cased NY0155-58X, black dial and red bezel insert NY0156-04E, blue dial and black cased NY0158-09L, and black dial with black/blue bezel insert NY0159-57E. All models have 44mm diameter stainless steel cases that feature a drawing of a Fugu (pufferfish) on the case back and a sapphire crystal. Each model uses the 8204 automatic calibre movement.

Series 8

To commemorate the first anniversary of the restart of the Series8 range with the 870 mechanical models, Citizen launched the NA1025-10E. This limited edition has a Duratect DLC coated stainless case measuring 40.8mm in diameter and 11.4mm thick, that houses a 0950 automatic calibre. The dial is made from carbon and the display case back shows the rotor marked with 1st Anniversary. This model was a limited edition of 700 units.

A blue dialled version of the Series8 831 mechanical models was added to the line up. This is the NB6010-81L that uses the 9051 automatic calibre, has a sapphire crystal, and a stainless steel case measuring 40mm in diameter and 10.1mm thick. This model is very similar to the previously released black dial NB6010-81E or white dial NB6010-81A.

The NB6011-11W has brown dial with spiral textured dial and a brown leather strap. The stainless steel case measures 40mm in diameter and 10.1mm thick, it houses a 9051 automatic calibre.

The Citizen

An indigo colored Washi paper dialled AQ4091-56M is powered by the Eco-Drive A060 calibre that has an annual accuracy rated at ±5 seconds, and is housed in a 40 x 12.2mm super titanium case.

Four new models of "The Citizen'' were released as part of the Iconic Nature Collection. The models have super titanium cases measuring 38.3 x 12.2mm, and house the Eco-Drive A060 calibre that is rated at ±5 seconds per year. Each of the models have Washi paper dials that are inspired by the seasons they represent. The models are the green Ibuki AQ4100-06W Spring, blue Kompeki AQ4100-14L Summer, brown Ayanishiki AQ4100-22E Autumn, and gray Shijima AQ4102-01X Winter. Each of the models are limited editions of 250 units

The AQ6032-03P features an 18K gold case measuring 37.5 x 9.1mm and has a display case back showing off the 0100 calibre that has a rated accuracy of ±1 second per year. The dial is made from high-quality handmade Japanese "Tosa Seicho Paper". This model is a limited edition of 50 units.

The second model with an indigo colored Washi paper dial was the AQ6110-10L. This model is powered by the quartz Cal. 0100 with an annual difference of ± 1 second, and housed in a 37.5 x 9.0mm super titanium case. The black ruthenium plated movement can be seen through the display case back. This model will be available through limited dealers in Japan.

Featuring the 0200 mechanical calibre with a 22K gold rotor, the NC0206-18E is housed in an armor inspired stainless steel case, measuring 40.0mm in diameter and 10.9mm thick, with a black zirconia ceramic bezel. The black dial has a unique textured finish that is reminiscent of a hammered metal surface. A Himeji Kurozan “black diamond leather” is used for the strap and is produced by applying lacquer by hand to the leather and allowing it to dry before applying additional layers. This model will be a limited edition of 90 units.

Another set of pair watches were announced with the "Night walk in Paris" models. Both models have gray dials with an outer ring pattern inspired by a stone pavement. The CB1020-62H has a Duratect coated stainless steel case measuring 38mm in diameter and 9mm thick. It utilizes the H149 Eco-Drive calibre with world time functionality. The EC1010-65H has a case measuring 29mm in diameter and 7.6mm thick, it utilizes the H246 Eco-Drive calibre with world time functionality. Both models are limited editions of 1800 units.

The EC1160-62L is a pair watch from the “Dear Collection” with the theme Silent Snow. The flecked blue dial represents falling snow and this is in a stainless steel case measuring 28mm in diameter and 8.5mm thick, utilizing a H246 Eco-Drive calibre. This model pairs with the Attesa AT8240-74L, and is a limited edition of 2000 units.

The smallest model in the DENPA Limited Models YOAKE COLLECTION celebrating the 30th anniversary of Citizen multi-band radio sync watches was the EC1166-74E. This model has a rose gold colored super titanium case and bracelet measuring 28 x 8.5mm and utilizes a H246 Eco-Drive radio sync calibre. This model is a limited edition of 1500 units and will begin shipping in January.

Part of the Daichi collection, the EE1004-57W is a limited edition of 1700 units. This has a dial inspired by cherry blossoms in full bloom. Eight small diamonds are used as markers on the dial and a sun and moon display. The watch has a rose gold colored titanium case measuring 29mm in diameter and 8.8mm thick. It uses a H296 radio sync Eco-Drive movement with world time functionality.

Also part of the "Daichi Collection", the EE1006-60W features a lab grown floret diamond in the center of the crystal. The brown dial has diamonds at the 3, 6, 9, and 12 marker positions and this is housed in a rose gold colored super titanium case measuring 29 x 9.4mm. It utilizes a H296 Eco-Drive calibre. This is a limited edition of 1200 units.

The final model from the 2022 “Light in Black'' collection was the EE1007-59W. It has a Duratect DLC Super Titanium case measuring 29mm in diameter and 8.8mm thick. It utilizes the H296 Eco-Drive calibre with sun and moon display. The green dial has a leaf pattern and diamond at the 6 o’clock marker.

The two tone EE1007-67W has a mother of pearl dial featuring cherry blossom shaped markers at the 3 & 9 o’clock positions. There are also diamonds at the 12 and 6 o’clock positions as well as the center of the crystal.

Two tonneau shaped cased models were added to the xC range. The golden colored ES9354-69B has a titanium case measuring 24.4 x 8.3mm and the two tone ES9364-57W has a case measuring 24.9 x 7.2mm. Both models use the H060 Eco-Drive calibre with world time functionality.

The ES9445-73W has a rose gold colored bezel with a super titanium case measuring 27mm diameter and 8.9mm thick. It uses a H060 Eco-Drive calibre and has a mother of pearl dial and diamonds at the 12 & 8 o’clock positions with another diamond in the center of the sapphire crystal.

The second model in the New TiMe, New Me campaign is the ES9464-52B. This has a golden colored case measuring 29mm in diameter and 8.2mm thick that houses a H060 calibre. It has a white dial with roman numerals and lab grown diamonds at the 2 and 7 marker positions. This watch is a limited edition of 1800 units.

Continuing the models with lab grown diamonds positioned in the center of the sapphire crystal is the ES9464-61W. This two tone model has an elegant lace-patterned white mother-of-pearl dial in a super titanium case measuring 29 x 9.1mm. The model utilizes a H060 Eco-Drive calibre and is a limited edition of 250 units.

Another model with a diamond in the sapphire crystal and on the dial also has a mother of pearl dial. The ES9466-65W has a 29mm diameter super titanium case 9.1mm thick, with rose gold colored bezel.

Three models with quick change bracelets were released with the silver EW2631-55A, golden EW2633-50A, and rose gold colored EW2635-54A. All models have 28mm diameter cases that are 8.1mm thick and utilize the E011 Eco-Drive movement. A range of sevel quick change leather straps were also released at the same time for use with these models.

Citizen Collection

On April 30th and surprisingly not May 4th, Citizen announced five models of Star Wars themed “Tsuno” bullhead chronographs. These are the Star Wars AN3667-58E (LE 400 units), AN3666-51A R2-D2 (LE 600 units), AN3662-51W C-3PO (LE 600 units), AN3669-52E Darth Vader (LE 600 units), and AN3668-55W Darth Maul (LE 400 units). All models feature a custom case back design with a logo and character image, and utilize the 0510 quartz calibre. They each have stainless steel cases measuring 38mm in diameter and 11.7mm thick.

Another Tsuno model was an Evangelion based model from Japanese online retailer RADIO EVA. The black color scheme on the dial and case is contrasted with yellow from Unit-00, purple from Unit-01, and red from Unit-02. The same pattern from the dial is replicated on the case back.

The AN8184-89E is a two tone chronograph model with a black dial and bezel. The watch uses a quartz 0520 calibre with a sixty minute chronograph and 24 hour indicator, and is housed in a 44m stainless steel case.

A pair of Asian multi-hand models were introduced in different colorways. The AP1055-87L has a blue dial, and the AP1055-87X has a green dial. Both models have black cases measuring 42mm in diameter and utilize the 8651 quartz calibre. These have a moon phase, pointer date, day and month display.

Based on the long selling VO10 models that have been available for over 10 years, a new pair of chronograph models were released. The AT2500-19A has a white textured dial, and the AT2500-19W has a green dial. Both models are provided on nylon straps and have stainless steel cases measuring 40.6mm in diameter and 11mm thick. The models use the H500 Eco-Drive calibre that provides time, date, 24 hour indicator, and a 60 minute chronograph.

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of Citizen in Taiwan, to commemorate the occasion they released two limited edition models. The AT9124-88E (LE 700 units) has a rose gold colored bezel and red world city ring, while the AT9126-82L (LE 1000 units) has a blue dial. The models both have stainless steel cases measuring 44mm in diameter and are powered by the radio sync H820 Eco-Drive calibre.

A Disney model with Mickey on the dial was the AU1095-57W “Mickey Fiesta”. The dial features Mickey with fireworks, and this has a yellow and blue lume. The watch has a black stainless steel bracelet and case measuring 40mm with the Disney logo on the case back. It is powered by a J165 Eco-Drive calibre.

Three classically styled models that look to have taken inspiration from the vintage Crystal Seven models. These are the champagne dialled AW0100-19A, silver dialled AW0100-86A, and the silver dialled AW0102-13A with a golden colored case. Each of these models have a case diameter of 40mm and use the J800 Eco-Drive calibre.

The AW1594-89X is a two tone model with diver style case. It has a green dial, and stainless steel case measuring 45mm in diameter providing 100m water resistance, and utilizes the J810 Eco-Drive calibre.

A new Disney collaboration model was introduced with the AW1595-78W Tee Time Mickey. The watch has a green dial featuring Mickey playing golf and a green black bezel insert. The stainless steel case measures 43mm and houses a J810 Eco-Drive calibre. The case back features the Disney logo.

Continuing the Marvel Classic Avengers collection was the AW1668-50W Black Panther. The watch has a Super Titanium case measuring 41mm in diameter, with a gray resin stamped bezel and sapphire crystal. The watch is powered by a J810 Eco-Drive movement and the text “Wakanda Forever” on the case back.

The AW1708-57W “Avatar Wave” has a blue dial with a Leonopteryx aerial predator that is surrounded by a teal ring representing waves. The stainless steel case measures 46mm in diameter and houses a J810 Eco-Drive calibre.

Three sporty models were introduced with the back dialled AW1720-51E, black dial and rose gold colored cased AW1723-02E, and the blue dialled two tone AW1726-55L. All models have 42mm stainless steel cases, sapphire crystal, and utilize the J810 Eco-Drive calibre.

Two models with a plane image on the dial were the AW1733-09E with a black dial and rose gold colored case, and the AW1735-03X with green dial and black case. Both models have a large 45mm diameter case and are powered by a J810 Eco-Drive calibre.

Two models with dials featuring a textured pattern in the center portion and an interesting stainless steel case and bracelet were introduced to the range. These were the AW1740-54H with a black dial and rose gold colored hands and markers, and the blue dialled AW1740-54L. These models also utilize the J810 Eco-Drive calibre.

The Mandalorian inspired AW2045-57W has a black stainless steel case with a Mudhorn signet in the center, and a saber texture design on the dial. The model has a J830 calibre and the caseback has a Mandalorian helmet

Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Spider-Man the AW2050-49W was added to the Marvel models. The watch features a blue dial with web pattern and Spider-Man at the 12 marker with lumed eyes. The red highlights on the bezel insert, crown, and hands complete the characters trademark colorway. The watch has a 43mm diameter stainless steel case with the text “Beyond Amazing” and Spider-Man on the case back, it is powered by a J830 Eco-Drive calibre. The watch is a limited edition of 1962 units to match the year of the character's introduction. It is supplied in a special box along with two Spider-Man pins.

The Avatar themed AW2060-02W has an image of Pandora on the dial and has a stainless steel case measuring 42mm in diameter. It utilizes the J810 Eco-Drive calibre.

The Chewbacca inspired AW5008-06W has a black dial with the Millennium Falcon at the 12 marker and the text Chewie and “It’s not wise to upset a Wookiee.” on the case back. The watch is powered by a J810 Eco-Drive movement and has a 43mm diameter case.

The Han Solo AW5009-03W has a blue dial with an image of the Millennium Falcon in a stainless steel 43mm case. The caseback has a silhouette of Han Solo and the quote “Sometimes I even amaze myself.” It is powered by a J810 Eco-Drive calibre.

Three basic models were introduced with the blue dialled BI1031-51L in a steel case, the two tone BI1036-57L, and the golden cased BI1039-59L. All of the models use the quartz 1112 calibre and have a 42mm stainless steel case and mineral crystal. The models are rated for 100m water resistance.

A set of pair models were introduced to the Citizen Collection series. The BJ6486-20E has a black stainless steel case, and dark gray dial with rose gold colored hands and Roman numerals. It has a case measuring 37.2mm in diameter and 7.1mm thick housing an E031 Eco-Drive caliber. It is a limited edition of 1000 units and pairs to model EM0406-12E.

Celebrating the 100th birthday of cartoonist Shigeru Mizuki, a pair of limited edition models, each with 340 units available, were released in Japan. The designs are based upon the Citizen Kinder Time models, first released in 1968 when the animation GeGeGe no Kitarō (ゲゲゲの鬼太郎) was initially broadcast. The watch designs are also influenced by a specific character, with the BJ6540-34L inspired by Kitarō and the BJ6540-42A inspired by Medama-oyaji. The BJ6540-34L design has a luminous Hitodama (fireball) design on the dial. Both models use an E031 Eco-Drive movement housed in a stainless steel case measuring 35mm in diameter and 7.6mm thick. A second strap featuring designs from the animation is also supplied with both watches, and the packaging is reminiscent of a VHS tape box.

Another Light in Black model was the BL5497-85W that is a limited edition of 1500 units. It has a stainless steel case measuring 39.5mm in diameter and 11.1mm thick. It is powered by an E820 Eco-Drive calibre.

The Star Wars themed BM6839-06W has an image of Yoda on the dial and the characters Y, O, D, A at the 3, 6, 9, & 12 positions. The black ion plated stainless steel case measures 42mm in diameter and houses an E111 Eco-Drive movement. The case back has an image of Yoda with the text “Judge me by my size, do you?”

Continuing the range of Marvel character based watches is the “Thor” BM6987-50W. This model has a black case, bracelet, and dial with yellow accents. The case back has a hammer logo and the text “Find Your Power”. The watch is powered by a E111 calibre and has a diameter of 42mm.

The BM7569-89X is a simple model with green dial and basic Eco-Drive E111 calibre. The watch has a 41mm stainless steel case and a polished and brushed stainless steel bracelet.

A trio of simple three handed models with sunburst dials and arabic numerals were introduced. These each have a 42mm diameter titanium case and use the E111 Eco-Drive movement. The variants were the black dialled BM7570-80E, blue dialled BM7570-80L, and green dialled BM7570-80X.

The blue dialled BM7580-51L pairs with the EW2670-53L, golden cased BM7582-56E pairs with the EW2672-58E, and dark grey BM7587-52H does not appear to have a smaller variant. All have stainless steel cases measuring 40mm in diameter and are powered by the E111 Eco-Drive calibre. These models are released under the Axiom branding in the US.

A JDM model created in collaboration with Chari & Co, a fashion retailer and bike store founded in NYC in 2008, was released with the BM8477-12E that has a dial pattern showing a street map of NYC with the Chari & Co store marked in grey near the 4 marker. The watch has an E101 Eco-Drive movement housed in a black stainless steel case measuring 42 x 10.5mm, and is supplied on a nylon and velcro strap.

Another addition to the classic Disney range was the BV1089-05W Batters Up Mickey. The watch has a black ion coated stainless steel case measuring 43mm in diameter and housing a B690 Eco-Drive calibre. The dial has an image of Mickey catching a fly ball over the seconds sub dial.

Building on their partnership with Disney, a pair of Mickey Mouse silhouette models were introduced. These were the black and white BV1130-03W, and the golden toned BV1132-08W. Both models have 40mm diameter cases and use the B690 Eco-Drive calibre.

A new Star Wars themed model was introduced with the CA0761-06W “Rebel Pilot”. The watch has a black dial with a rebel alliance logo, X-Wing, and pilot's helmet. It has a 44mm case, 22mm width lugs, and is powered by a B612 Eco-Drive calibre with 1/5th second 60 minute chronograph, date, and 24 hour dial. The case back has a Jedi Order logo and the text “May the Force Be with You”.

Five Eco-Drive chronograph models were introduced with the black dialled CA0790-83E, blue dialled CA0790-83L, green dialled CA0791-81X, black dialled CA0797-84E with a black case, and the CA0797-84X with green dial and black case. All models have 43mm diameter stainless steel cases. These models use the B612 calibre that provides a 60 minute chronograph function. Note the dial at 9 o'clock is not linked to the chronograph but is a 24 hour indicator linked to the time.

A trio of models utilizing the Eco-Drive B612 calibre, that provides a 1/5th second chronograph with a maximum recorded time of 60 minutes. Each model has a dial featuring both arabic numerals and stick markers that is housed in a 44 x 11.6mm titanium case. These models are the black dialled CA0810-88E, blue dialled CA0810-88L, and green dialled CA0810-88X.

The CA4211-72L is an aviation inspired blue dialled chronograph model. It has a stainless steel case measuring 45mm in diameter and is powered by the B620 Eco-Drive calibre.

A trio of Asia region specific models were the gray dialled CA4417-85H, blue dialled CA4418-82L, and green dialled CA4418-82X chronographs. All models have black stainless steel cases measuring 41.7mm in diameter and utilize the B620 Eco-Drive calibre.

Two Eco-Drive chronograph models were released with an aviation design. The green dialled CA4477-08X is provided on a leather strap, and the blue dialled CA4478-56L is provided on a bracelet. Both models have 44mm stainless steel cases and use the B620 Eco-Drive calibre.

Three chronographs featuring a weave type pattern on the dial were the blue and black CA4510-55L, black CA4512-50E with a golden colored case, and the two tone CA4516-59A with gray dial. All models have stainless steel cases measuring 41mm diameter and use the B620 calibre.

Four more chronograph models were introduced with the white dialled CA4540-54A, black dialled CA4540-54E, green dialled CA4542-59X with golden colored case, and the blue dialled CA4544-53L with a two tone case. All models have stainless steel cases measuring 43mm in diameter, with a sapphire crystal. They are powered by the B620 Eco-Drive with a 60 minute chronograph and 24 hour dial.

As part of the Pokemon themed Eevee Friends Collection, Citizen released nine different models. These were not limited to a set production number but instead were available for preorder from December 17th to January 17th and then delivered in July. The first three were the CA7024-06W Vaporeon in black and blue, the CA7024-14W Jolteon in black and yellow, and the CA7024-22W Flareon in black and orange. All three models have cases measuring 42 x 13.6mm with a picture of the Pokemon character on the case back. They are powered by a B624 Eco-Drive chronograph movement.

Three simple models using the B642 Eco-Drive calibre that provides a 1/5th second chronograph capable of measuring up to 60 minutes were introduced. All the models have sapphire crystals and titanium cases measuring 43mm in diameter and 11.3mm thick. The three variants were the black dialled CA7090-87E, blue dialled CA7090-87L, and red dialled CA7090-87X.

The final model in the DENPA Limited Models YOAKE COLLECTION, celebrating 30 years of multi-band radio sync watches, was the CB5876-60E. This limited edition of 1600 units has a stainless steel case measuring 43mm in diameter and 12mm thick. It utilizes the E660 Eco-Drive radio sync calibre, and will begin shipping in January 2023.

An Asia exclusive model is the CB5888-87E chronograph. This model has a black dial with golden accents to match the golden colored bezel, crown, and pushers. It has a stainless steel case measuring 42.5mm in diameter and utilizes the E660 Eco-Drive calibre.

The CB5889-84L is a Taiwanese exclusive limited edition. This model was released in collaboration with baseball player and now coach Chien-Ming Wang. He played for the Taiwan national baseball team as well as MLB teams the New York Yankees, Washington Nationals, Toronto Blue Jays and Kansas City Royals, before moving to a coaching role. The watch has a stainless steel case 42.5mm in diameter and 13mm thick. It is powered by the E660 radio sync calibre. Chien-Ming’s uniform number through much of his career was 40 and this is replicated on the top right sub-dial. The watch is a limited edition of 1000 units, comes in a dedicated LE box and is supplied with a co-branded baseball cap.

Three chronograph models with titanium cases measuring 42 x 12mm utilized the E660 Eco-Drive radio sync calibre. The CB5945-85L has a blue dial with red accents, the CB5946-82X a green dial with red accents, and the CB5947-80E with black dial and yellow accents. All models have a black bezel with the different city codes listed.

The smaller model EM0406-12E has a matching design with black dial, case and Roman numerals, to pair with the BJ6486-20E. This smaller variant measures 27.7mm in diameter, is 7.1mm thick, and utilizes the E031 Eco-Drive caliber. It is also a limited edition of 1000 units.

The next three Pokemon models were the EM0790-04A Eifie Espeon in purple, the EM0792-09W Blackie Umbreon in black and gold coloring, and the EM0792-17P Eevee in a golden color with crystals on the dial. These models all had cases measuring 32 x 8.6mm, featured an image of the Pokemon on the case back, and were powered by a E031 Eco-Drive movement.

The blue dialled EM1020-57L, and mother of pearl dialled EM1022-51D, both feature crystals on the dial, case and bracelet. They both utilize the E033 calibre and have 34mm diameter stainless steel cases.

The final three models in the Eevee Friends Collection were the EW2590-00W Glaceon in blue, EW2592-04W Leafeon in green, and the EW2594-09W Sylveon in pink. These models all measured 29.2 x 8.9mm, featured an image of the Pokemon on the case back, and had a E011 Eco-Drive movement.

Two pair models were released alongside their larger sized versions. These were the blue dialled EW2670-53L that pairs with the BM7580-51L, and the black dialled and golden cased EW2672-58E that pairs with the BM7582-56E. These smaller models have 32mm diameter cases and use the E011 movement.

The FD0002-57D had a mother of pearl dial with nine diamonds at the hour markers. The golden colored case measures 37mm in diameter and houses an 8651 calibre with pointer date, day and month sub-dials, and a moon phase display.

The Gardening Minnie FE6087-04W has a colorful design with flowers surrounding the dial. The golden colored case is 36mm in diameter and it utilizes the J810 Eco-Drive model.

Minnie is featured again on the FE6106-52W Disco Minnie model that has a blue dial, a mirror ball at 12, and crystal markers. The watch has a 37mm stainless steel case and utilizes the J810 calibre.

Part of the Disney Villains series is the FE6107-68W Evil Queen model. It has a black stainless steel case measuring 37mm diameter and uses the J810 calibre. It has a reflection of the Evil Queen on the dial and the text “Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?” on the case back. A heart and dagger pin is also provided with the watch.

The Belle and the Beast FE7048-51D model is part of the Disney Princess collection. It has an image of the characters on the mother of pearl dial and crystals on the markers and bezel. The case is 36mm in diameter and the back has the text “Open your heart to new adventures.” The watch is also provided with a pin of a bell jar containing a rose in yellow and rose gold-tone surrounded by crystals.

The FE7105-09W Avatar themed “Tree of Souls” model has a purple dial with four crystal markers, and black case measuring 36.6mm in diameter. It utilizes the J810 Eco-Drive calibre.

Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the release of Disney’s Aladdin is the GA1072-07D. It has a mother of pearl dial with golden filigree detailing, jeweled markers and a lamp at 6 o’clock. The watch is powered by a J015 Eco-Drive calibre housed in a 30mm golden case with the line “Life’s a magic carpet ride” on the case back. The watch is also provided with a golden jewelry pin with the genie's lamp surrounded by blue zircon crystals.

The second model produced in collaboration with fashion retailer and bike store Chari & Co was the JG2105-00E. This was an ana-digi model with a digital camo design on the sub-dials and the crystal. The watch measures 32.5 x 8mm, is powered by an 8989 quartz calibre, and is supplied on a nylon and velcro strap. In addition to the watches Chari & Co also produced a range of Citizen branded apparel with black and white t-shirts, sweatshirts, and a black baseball cap.

Based on their classic thermosensor model first released in 1983 eight new watches were released. In 1982 Citizen released the world’s first watch with an integrated temperature measurement function and in the following year an updated design (DAB66-0033) was launched that became one of the company’s best sellers. It is this classic 1983 design that these new models are modeled after. The watches all have stainless steel cases measuring 33.4mm wide and 9.7mm thick. They use the 8989 ana-digi quartz calibre with dual time, perpetual calendar, chronograph, and alarm capabilities. The JG2120-65A has a white dial, the silver dialled JG2120-65H is a limited edition of 200 units that is available through "Ontime Move" retail stores. The JG2120-65W with green dial is exclusive to TiCTAC, the all black JG2125-61E is exclusive to Beauty and Youth. The JG2126-69E has a black dial and is a standard non-limited release. The steel with black bezel JG2127-66H is exclusive to Journal Standard. Finally the JG2129-63E with black case and steel bezel, and JG2129-61H with steel case and black bezel are both exclusive to the retailer BEAMS.

Celebrating the 150th anniversary of the first Japanese railway that operated between Shimbashi and Yokohama from 1872, Citizen has announced three new ana-digi models. Each model is inspired by a specific locomotive that ran on the line. The JG2135-68E has a black, red, and gold color scheme that reflects the first train that was originally imported from England. The JG2130-61E has an orange vermilion color scheme inspired by the 201 series of trains that ran through the Chuo Line for about 30 years. Finally the JG2130-61F is based on the Yamanote Line E235 series that started commercial operation in 2016, featuring a dial with a gradation of black dots and green that accurately reproduces the front of the train. All models have stainless steel cases measuring 32.5 x 8.0 x 40.6mm and utilize the 8989 calibre. The models do not have a fixed production quantity but are available for order between 21st September to 7th December and will be delivered in June 2023.

Two models with dials combining the traditional techniques of "lacquer" and "silver leaf" were introduced. The NB1060-04A has a silver dial and cordovan strap, while the NB1060-12L has a graduated blue dial and calf strap. Both models have stainless steel cases measuring 38.2mm in diameter and 12mm thick, and are powered by the 9011 automatic caliber.

An additional variant model utilizing a silver leaf dial was the NB1062-17W. This model has a green dial, brown calf strap, and rose gold colored Duratect coated stainless steel case measuring 38.2mm in diameter and 12mm thick. It was powered by the 9011 automatic caliber and was a limited edition of 300 units.

A pair of models inspired by the 1965 Crystal Seven models were released for the European market. These were the green dialled NH8390-03X and blue dialled NH8390-20L. Both models are supplied on leather straps and have stainless steel cases measuring 40.2 x 13.1mm and utilize the 8200 automatic calibre.

Five models in the Citizen Record Label C7 series were introduced. These were the silver dialled NH8391-01A with a leather strap, black dialled NH8391-51E, blue dialled NH8391-51L, and green dialled NH8391-51X on bracelets, and the sunburst blue dialled NH8391-86L with a mesh bracelet. The models were inspired by the original "Crystal Seven" that first appeared in 1965. The watches have stainless steel cases measuring 40.2 x 13.1mm housing an automatic 8200 calibre.

Four different colorways were introduced this year with the blue Kami dialled NJ0151-88L, teal dialled NJ0151-88M, graduated teal dialled NJ0151-88X, and the NJ0153-82X with rose gold colored case and red graduated dial. All models have stainless steel cases measuring 40 x 11.7mm and utilize the 8210 automatic calibre. These models join the white, black, blue, green, and yellow dialled variants, along with the two tone and black camouflage dialled models that were all released last year.

Six diver style models with 100m water resistance were introduced. These each have 43mm stainless steel cases and utilize the 8210 automatic calibre with a 40 hour power reserve. The models are the light blue NJ0170-83X, yellow NJ0170-83Z, gray NJ0171-81A, green NJ0173-18X, dark blue NJ0174-82L, and black NJ0176-10E.

Announced in 2021, two models were introduced to the Kuroshio ’64 series and released in 2022. These were the green dialled NK0007-88X and blue dialled NK0009-82L, with stainless steel cases measuring 40.7mm in diameter and 12.6mm thick. The watches use the 8310 automatic calibre. Both models are limited editions of 1959 units reflecting the year of release for the first Citizen waterproof Parawater model. In 1964 Citizen had a campaign to promote the water resistance of their watches by installing them into buoys that were placed into the Pacific Ocean to track the currents. The packaging of the watch replicates the buoy design.

Inspired by the scenery of cherry blossoms blooming on a moonlit night, the two tone PC1014-60L has a stainless steel case measuring 34 x 11.1mm. The sapphire crystal covers a blue open heart dial with flowers and diamond markers at 3, 6 and 9. The watch is powered by an 8229 automatic calibre. This is a limited number of 800 units.

Other Citizen Brands

Citizen has a range of products released under other branding but I will just focus on brands that are primarily released in Japan.

Campanola

The Cosmosign Moon Time AA7804-10E is a limited edition of 150 units. It has a black stainless steel Duratect DLC case measuring 45mm in diameter and 14.1mm thick. The 4386 calibre provides an accurate moon phase display, sunrise and sunset indications. The sapphire dial layer with the moon phases rotates over a 24 hour period, while the inner moon age scale rotates over a period of 24 hours, 50 minutes and 29 seconds. The different rotation speeds allow the current state of the shape and position of the moon to be displayed. The moon image itself accurately represents craters such as Tycho and Copernicus and there is also a display showing the annual trajectory and exact positioning of the sun.

A pair of Campanola models celebrating the 20th anniversary of the brands "Grand Complication" series were introduced. The AH4086-05E "Hoshi no Ame" has a black lacquer dial with gold powder sprinkled on the surface. The AH4086-13L "Soha" has a dial utilizing metal powder mixed into a blue lacquer. Both models have stainless steel cases measuring 43mm in diameter and 16.5mm thick. They utilize the 6772 quartz calibre that has moon phase, chronograph, 24 hour display, perpetual calendar, and minute repeater functions. Both models are limited editions of 120 units.

Two additions to the Campanola Moon Phase collection were introduced. The EZ2002-01W Akane is inspired by the red sky at dusk and utilizes a vermilion lacquer mixed with titanium metal powder for the dial finish. The EZ2000-14E Ritsuki represents the night sky with mother of pearl pieces on a black lacquer dial. Both models have a 36 x 10.1mm stainless steel case with sapphire crystal, housing a calibre 6324 quartz movement. The moon phase at the lower part of the dial has two facial expressions that alternate.

A new Campanola Global Art Collection was introduced with two new models. These are the blue dialled "Sky" NZ3000-01L and brown dialled "Earth" NZ3000-19P. Both models have hand lacquered dials by traditional craftsman Tetsuo Gido, and have 18K white gold cases measuring 42m in diameter and 10mm thick. The watches are powered by a Y392 calibre with a flying tourbillon featuring the Campanola Bell on the carriage. The movement is produced and assembled by watchmakers at La Joux-Perret SA of Switzerland. The watches are available through the Citizen Flagship Stores in Tokyo and Osaka and are each limited editions of 5 units.
