Junior Water Polo Trials

Please read all the information below before registering. All players need to be fully committed to play.

Registrations close 1st March 2021.

Your son has shown an interest in joining one of the Junior Water polo teams at WBHS. A great choice! We have two junior teams made up of Year 9 and 10 students.

Trial dates and venues:

Sunday 7^th March AUT Millennium 11:30am-1:30pm and Sunday 14^th March National Aquatic  1:00pm – 2:30pm

These will be run by Patrick Chambers – Head Coach of Junior A team along with his assistant James Houliston and the Junior B Coaches Bailey Clague and Devon Bibb.

We run two junior teams with 13 players in each. Your son will need to attend all of these trials if he would like to play for either Junior teams.

Term 2

Both teams will play in the Junior North Harbour league in terms 2, 3 and 4. Games in Term 2 and 3 will be on Friday afternoons / evenings and Term 4 they will be Thursday evening only at AUT Millennium. They will train once a week – Time to be advised by North Harbour Water Polo.  

There is an expectation that all players are working on their swimming fitness outside of these training sessions.

Term 3

A Saturday morning training will be added to the schedule at MISH from 10:30-12:30pm each week of the term.

Term 4

Both the mid-week training and Saturday trainings continue. Both teams will continue to play in the North Harbour Junior Comp and will also play in the Junior Auckland competition on Friday and/or Sunday nights at pools around Auckland. They will also play in North Islands Year 9 and 10 Cup 25-28^th November in Hutt/Wellington.

Water Polo Fees

The fees for each team will vary and will be charged each team include: pool hire, entry fees, coaching fee.

These will be between $280-$350 per term. You will receive an invoice once teams have been finalised.

The cost for Wellington at the end of the year is likely to be between $1000-$1300 based on the cost of taking a senior team to Wellington in March of this year.

Uniform

Players need to wear the WBHS green water polo togs (that they would also wear for the Senior A2 team) which can be bought from the uniform shop once teams are finalised. They are also expected to wear the junior PE/sports uniform to and from games.

We have a proud tradition at Westlake with our Water polo programme and want to keep building on our team culture and commitment to this sport. We welcome you to our Westlake Water polo community and hope that your son enjoys not only his time at Westlake but also enjoys playing for his school.
