I’m happy to share that I've been working part-time as a support worker at Lifewise NZ and in retail with a wonderful team at one of Repco's many stores in Auckland! I've been supporting an individual with special needs in schoolwork, recreation, and leisure activities. This has come very naturally because of my experiences living with a disability and growing up with siblings who have disabilities. At Repco, I've been helping countless people with their automotive needs, learning more about cars myself, and keeping the store stocked and organised with projects each shift that focus on different sections. These part-time jobs have been great so far, allowing me to finance my uni studies and my first IRL racing meetings in Outlaw Karts. The last meeting of the season at Rosebank Speedway is on the 12th of May!

For the eighth time in less than ten years the LaChapelles are on the move. We can’t afford to live in San Diego on two service industry salaries. We knew that when we landed here but options were limited. Now that Abby has committed to college at a UC school TBA, we need to stay in California to hang on to that sweet in-state tuition. We studied the map and decided to head to higher elevation and a lower cost of living in the Temecula area. Hot, beautiful and only a couple hours away from wherever Abby lands in the UC system. Moving means it's time to make my own luck again. Yesterday I took a 150 mile round trip ride to Temecula to job hunt. I passed out resumes and shook a few hands at motorcycle and automotive shops in the area. (lookin at you Old Town Temecula Harley-Davidson Wise Auto Group) My wife is transferring with her current company. I turned in my resignation letter earlier this week. When I was hired at my shop the company offered to put me on the store manager path. I’m incredibly grateful they saw my prior experience as a leader and felt it would be a great match. I was not so enthusiastic about being a manager, however I wanted to work on cars. They were the shop that gave me an opportunity, so I took the job. I could stay with the shop’s parent company and transfer to a location near Temecula. That would mean continuing through the company’s manager training program. I’ve been in a few situations already, which have made it abundantly clear to me that I have no interest in climbing the management ladder. I want to help customers, solve problems and eat lunch at a gas station. I don’t want to give 130% of my life so I can have the chance at making one more dollar an hour. I discussed my quandary with both Liz and my therapist before deciding it was time to move-on. I’m using moving as an opportunity to test the market as a free agent. I want growth opportunities as a technician and this is the logical next step. That said, letting go of the bird-in-hand means risking everything. Obvious choice: bet on yourself and risk everything. #jobsearch #jobhunt #mentalhealthawareness #relocation #automotive #motorcycles #hustle

3 years ago on this very day I was graced with an opportunity by Andrew Blythe & Sam G who took a gamble on hiring me. By no means was it the smoothest transition into my new found career, but they stuck by me & hopefully it has paid them dividends. Here’s a small recap on my journey… - 16th January 2021 - Began teaching myself📚 residential property (6pm - midnight daily) - 9th February 2021 - Quit job - 15th February 2021 - Hired at STOREYS - 16th February 2021 - 1st Day at STOREYS 36 Months in 3 years 156 Weeks in 3 years 144 Working weeks in 3 years (Mon - Fri) 783 Working days in 3 years (Mon - Fri) 470 Total deals in 3 years📊 3.25 deals per week average over 3 years 13 deals per month average over 3 years 156 deals per year average over 3 years Real Estate degree ❌ >> Negative… - Junior Lettings Negotiator ✅ - Senior Lettings Negotiator ✅ - Head Lettings Negotiator ✅ Success thus far ? Yes & no… Everyone’s perception of success varies depending on the individual. For me personally, “yes” in the sense of I have found my passion, a career at STOREYS that I thoroughly love and enjoy. Vast majority of people tend to despise their jobs, but feel obligated to stick at it solely due to their pay packets they receive at the end of each month. On the other hand “no”, reason being I feel I haven’t even scratched the surface in terms of what I want to achieve in the industry. I am just getting started. Like anything, patience & consistency is everything. There is an ungodly amount of industry knowledge I wish to continue to learn, enabling me to develop and broaden my skillset that will take me to new heights. New & different goals this year 🎯. Watch this space” as people like to say these days.

Over the past few days, I've actually had a chance to think about my work New Year resolutions and I've decided to share them with my network so I can be hashtag accountable! 1. Send as many CVs to my clients to no matter if they are suitable or not, everyone knows that's where the true value in using a crew agent is! 2. Don't worry about speaking with the potential crew members, if they've applied online they must be interested, ill leave it to the Captain to do all the talking from now on and save my voice for chatting about how good Liverpool are this season 3. Reference checks? No need for that, I won't be able to send so many CVs out if I waste my time with that rubbish! 4. No more candidate check-ins around here, no news is good news in my books! 5. Most importantly I'll be upping my fees after implementing all these resolutions, less work more play baby! Have a great year guys and if you would like to find out how we actually do things at Goldenkeys, get in touch!

Traffix has plenty to offer in terms of career opportunities. Recent recruit Shannon Cotton is already making plans on how to work her way up our Stepped Career Path. See what Shannon thinks of her time here so far, then visit https://lnkd.in/eVFTy9qB to apply for a position with us… ——————————————— Meet the #TraffixCrew Shannon Cotton - Traffic Management Operative Q: Where did you start? A: I found out about the role through one of my friends who works at Traffix. My initial induction and training were very thorough and enjoyable. I learned pretty quickly what the company ethos is and what would be expected of me to maintain the high standards Traffix expect. I am relatively early into my career at Traffix, but my impressions so far are very favourable. Q: What is your role? A: I am part of the team of Traffic Management Operatives that supports one of our large client contracts for highway repairs and improvements. I arrive at the office for my shift, find out where I will be and what the job entails, then the van is loaded with the equipment required and we drive to the job. Once there I will set the job up, carry out whatever the duties are for the day, then it’s a case of taking the job down and back to the office. Q: Where do you see myself next at Traffix? A: There is a lot more to Traffic Management than I first thought. There are so many opportunities to progress at Traffix, it would be nice to keep moving up the ladder and build a career here. I have already started to progress through the ticket levels which helps your earning potential. Q: Why Traffix? A: I chose Traffix because of the professional way in which the interview process was handled and the career path was very interesting, plus everyone was really nice from the moment I walked through the door. I would say the most enjoyable part of the job is the people I work with, being a Traffic Management Operative is a good job, but the team makes it even better. ------------------------------ #TrafficManagement #Recruitment #Careers #CareerOpportunities #Birmingham #Telford #Derby #Midlands #Shropshire #Derbyshire #Jobs

Robert & Emily’s Success Story: Part 1 Robert was one of the best students when he started looking for a job. With no previous working, but with a difficult life experience, he wanted to find some way to make money to pay for further college education. Robert didn’t yet know what kind of specialist he wanted to become. Anyway, he believed that education would help to achieve a great and promising future. 🌟 Not far from the college, there was a warehouse of goods of one of the e-commerce companies. Robert decided that it would be convenient for him to work here since he would be able to come to work immediately after his classes in college. In addition, there were favorable conditions for cooperation: - flexible schedule 🗓 - stable payment of wages 💵 - paid vacation 🌴 Robert was placed as an ordinary warehouse worker, but he knew he was capable of more. Robert liked the new job, although he believed that it would only be a seasonal side job. However, this story turned out to be much longer than expected. I don’t start my next job until July 5. So what will I be doing with that time? 1. Relaxing. I probably should have taken some more coordinated and planned time while I was still at my last job, because I was definitely burning out. I’ll go hiking, boating, maybe fishing. And I was already on vacation for a week (scheduled before I got laid off). And I’m sure I’ll hit up at least a couple breweries. 2. Working on some stuff around the house There are a few small projects that I just didn’t have the time (or energy) to do while I was working full time — nice to haves, but now that I have some time, why not? 3. Side projects Obviously there’s Valence. We’re in the process of setting up pilots with a few product management organizations to see our software in action. (and we’re looking for more!) I also might do a small contract project, if the right one comes along; in addition, I have some learning/exploring I want to do to keep my skills current and fill in some gaps here and there. — All in all, relaxing and refreshing, but far from boring. #refresh #recharge #betweenjobs
