Ahhhhh coral fantasy bringing me to a tropical country 😍 I have been wearing this now for about a year and has become my signature scent. It’s stunning!

I remember trying the original before I got fantasy and I absolutely fell in love with the initial spray, but unfortunately as time went on it transformed into this horrible, musky, sweaty scent on me and I ended up selling it

I then tried yellow dream and wasn’t impressed with that one either, I was completely ready to write off the born in Roma collection until I took a chance and sampled fantasy! Oh my goodness, just like the first born in Roma it has the most amazing opening but a completely different one.

I didn’t get my hopes up too much though as I expected it to do the horrible sweaty musky phase. Unbelievably and shockingly it never happened….it stays beautiful on my skin from start to finish. It starts off with a burst of tropical fruits which seem to stay throughout on my skin. As it dries down you can really smell the rose come through (which I’m surprised about that I enjoy it so much as I’m a jasmine lover)

Fantasy is a straight up tropical sun summer fragrance but I like to wear it all year round as it’s so uplifting. I think it’s also good for both day and night time. It has decent longevity, not beast mode but decent. Decent enough that I don’t mind paying the price. Maybe about 4-6 hours. It projects well at first but does become more subtle. If you love fruity, tropical summer fun in a bottle then give this one a go!

A fruity bomb! I own the original Donna Born In Roma but smelled Coral Fantasy on my cousin. I knew it was a Valentino DBIR but I didn't know whether she had layered something together, you know how the girlies are doing these days. But nope. She told me it was Coral Fantasy. To me, Coral Fantasy smells like juicy fruit gum. Everyone's body chemistry wears fragrance differently. Coral Fantasy is a winner for me. I don't mix her with a heavily scented lotion, unscented eos lotion is perfect. My goal is to apply Coral Fantasy on a moisturized body which gives the fragrance something to cling to. I go "nose blind" to the fragrance after an hour or two but I still get compliments at the end of the day which signals to me that it's long lasting.

aeharris

The kiwi and citrus make it so bright, cheerful, and unique, but afterward, you get a generic, mall perfume scent. I don't mind it due to the opening.

share

indigoface

this reminded me so much of some body spray or fragrance from my middle school days - it's VS Bombshell. coral fantasy smells fine but definitely generic and not something that suits me anymore!

share

alexiamnb

Generic, fresh, sharp citrus, not for me

share

eileensheats

idk why I always insist on picking the fragrance as my sephora sample when I know in my heart I am never gonna like a fragrance that sephora is promoting

share

Gladys&Glynnis

This one is a pass for me. I’m not really a fan of the Born in Roma line in general but I’ll spray the original DBIR in a pinch; it’s inoffensive and easy. I’ve also purchased it for gifts. I love the bottles. This one starts off promising with tropical fruits (kiwi and citrus) but dries down a little sour and chemical-like on my skin. Also, like the rest of the line she’s a bit boring and generic. I still think a lot of people will like this one for summer.

share

gardenfairy9

This smells like a fruity tropical smoothie in a bottleeee <3

share

astralmonad870

For a while I thought the Donna line was overrated and didn’t bother trying any. But I’m a sucker for exotic fruit notes and ambrette and this seems joyful to wear. I’m a bit sick of seeing jasmine as a mid note but I might add a mini to my collection

share

LEM922

Mmmm. Juicy kiwi-rose with a touch of ambrette and a slightly woody base. This is really fruity and fun yet sensual at the same time. I find myself decently fond of the born in Roma flankers, which is a nice surprise considering the OG is not my favorite. This is very musky and perfume-y at the base, with the floral opening splash fleeting rather quickly. It has a fresh tinge to it as well. I don’t think I would ever commit to a full bottle of this, but I can appreciate it for what it is, a fun spring summer perfume, fruity without being juvenile. If you like musky fruity florals, I’d definitely give this a try.

share

Floralauriel

I'll need to try this a few more times, but I think I liked it quite a bit. It's very fruity and floral and didn't dry down to a powdery musk like most scents tend to do on me. I agree with others that this smells quite uplifting and sort of sparkling. I really dislike strong musk base notes as they tend to smell way too heavy on my skin, but the musks in this are quite balanced with the fresh fruitiness.

share

booksandcats457

Fun fruity summer perfume. I can detect the sweet DNA of the original Donna Born in Roma, but this scent is brighter and more fruity. This and Yellow Dream are my favorite flankers from the DBIR line.

share

luvfreshfruityfloral

Thought this was gonna be a sweet fizzy fruity scent based on notes and reviews but sadly upon initially spraying and even after letting it dry down for a few hours its too floral forward on me which I don't love 💔 i srsly don't get any of the kiwi/orange which is a bummer

Will be returning :(

share

Rosemary14

Very fresh, juicy, bright, sparkly orange 🍊 and kiwi goodness! It’s very pretty. It does give Escada vibes but it’s more dressed up and perfume-y than Escada which is a good thing in my book. I’m not a huge fan of the OG but love this flanker.

share

liquidangel

an alluring fruity summer fragrance, one of my favourites by Versace

share

Saveria

A very simple perfume ; it smells of flowers and fruits (mainly orange) and it's quite fresh. Not bad in itself, it smells good but it's so simple that you could say it smells like "perfume".

There's a little exotic note in the background but I'm unable to define it (kiwi?). Nothing incredible.

Very weak staying power and no sillage.

share

Suigintou

Refreshing and juicy!

share

HellyKayden

It’s pretty. I love the OG and this is its brighter sister. It’s fruitier. I just think both this and the original are nice and pretty but just a little boring. They’re a safe buy as a nice gift for someone. When I don’t know what to wear one of these always do the trick. But on the regular I’d rather wear something a little more fun or unique.

share

lavieenrose1987

This just makes me want to go to a tiki bar in my best Hawaiian print dress and cork wedges! It has that same kind of inoffensive nondescript Perfume™️ vibe as the original, but with a refreshing splash of kiwi, orange and pineapple thrown in there. The fruitiness fades kind of quickly, though, so if that’s what you’re after, this might not be for you. It’s light and girly and doesn’t take itself too seriously, so if that’s your vibe, this is one to try.

share

Melis.t

Nothing groundbreaking, it's nice but I would rather spend my money on the og. I dislike fruity-musk combination so it's a pass for me.

share

Decode

This is another perfume I like more than I thought I would. The kiwi and orange combo is so fruity and refreshing, perfect for spring or summer. Somehow this smells almost “sparkly” and “bubbly”, like a tropical drink from a tiki bar.

Doesn’t last that long but I don’t mind reapplying this since the opening is my favorite part. Spray on clothes to make it last longer.

share

Emera1d

I agree this could be and Escada summer edition and it has similarities with DG L'Imperatrice. But, it lasts longer than Escada and it doesn't have the sour note in L'Imperatrice that I don't like. Fruity shampoo or not I am getting this for hot summer days and summer vacations! It is a mood booster in a bottle!

share

Beans&Gravy

I like it, a floral fragrance with a juicy fruit beginning. Fades very quickly though, especially the fruit. I think you should try it before you buy it. Really good for the summer, when you want to eat watermelon and go to the beach.

share

scensitive

Not a complex fruity fresh scent.

The 15ml travel size is as amazing as the regular bottles. Doubles as a super good muscle scraping tool for self massage.

In that TV show from the 80s, Three's Company, when Larry would burst through the door and Chrissy and Janet's shiny Nice 'n Easy glossy hair whipped around in unbelievable shock and delight, the heart leap scent in those seconds is this!

share

RedQueenOfTheSouth

I smelled and tested for the first time today . I think this is my new fave ! It reminds me a lot of D&G L’Imperatrice which I adore but wouldn’t buy bc it faded so quickly . This seems to have staying power ! I will definitely be purchasing.

share

cherryflavoredantacid

The tropical note of the kiwi and the fruitiness of the orange is so good. It's a gorgeous, airy scent. It has a bit of a clean, green essence to it. And I did notice the floral was more on the soft powdery side which I don't normally like, but this one did it beautifully. It's not overly cloying or anything. Initially on first application this is so strong, but on the dry down after maybe 10 or 15 minutes it gets much more intimate, which is my preference. However, after only wearing this perfume for like 3 or 4 hours it practically faded away by that time. So while it smells good it doesn't last that long. And since i'm sensitive to scents that trigger migraines, I haven't tested it long enough to definitively give an answer to that one. But I will edit my review once I give it multiple tries to see if it induces headaches for those that need to know for their own health.

puselabber

Fruity fruity and fruity! Zingy Kiwi 🥝 on top of a sweet whisper of jasmine. Just what I wanted. And what I got. Quite unusual actually, compared to all the ovverripe juicy fruity berry fragrances around. I do not agree with the body-mist or celeb fragrance comparison because I think this is has a certain quality that stands out compared to most celeb frags. Luckyly I bought this in a purse-spray, because it needs to be topped up every hour or so.

share

PhantomBelle

The notes say it all: fruity, citrus, tropical, sweet. This is an absolutely adorable flanker that takes parts of the DBIR original and adds a very fun twist. If you like sweet scents, this is a safe blind buy. I really don't think you can go wrong with this one. It's so pleasant all the way through, I can't really find a fault other than I wish it would last longer and project more. Purchased from: Sephora

share

ayshee_x

A very fruity, fresh and juvenile scent. Ideal for summer. Very much like you’ve just got out of the shower. I do think it’s quite a young scent and you could probably find similar body sprays to this, so it might not be worth the money imo. Still a fun flanker nonetheless.

share

Coccobacillius

It’s my guilty pleasure. I’ve been collecting fragrances and I didn’t want to purchase this fragrance but every time I went into the drugstore I had to put some of this on my skin. It’s quite simple and generic but somehow I fell in love with this. It’s smells juvenile and youthful and it reminds me some of the Escada perfumes. The first few minutes after spraying this on my skin, smells like a juicy kiwi and orange smoothie, after a while it turns into sweet flowers. It’s fresh, sweet and intoxicating. Every time I wore this I’ve gotten compliments. I can’t wait to wear this in warmer weather. Also, on my skin it’s quite long lasting, but it’s a matter of skin chemistry. I like this so much more than the original Born In Roma, and I also own the intense version(this one is my winter signature), but I like this flanker more.

share

LaPetite

It's pretty, but has nothing special. It's quite generic, it could be a celebrity scent.

share

arieschick44

This scent did not wow me at all. It smelled like a heavier body mist. I received this as a sample and I am glad that I did not purchase this. It's OK and I like it, but I don't love it.

share

Nayliut

Totally in love with this scent! Great for summer evening.

share

Elyka21

It smells kiwi on me throughout the day: sharp and bitter in the beginning, sweeter in the dry down. I am not getting much of the other notes but they are there in the background, well blended. Great for spring or summer, very light, almost exclusively kiwi scent on me, neither like or dislike, depends on the mood and season. I do prefer the yellow version though to this one, especially in spring.

share

Charli3

The kiwi is just slightly too sharp, it scratches a bit. Very fun and cute though, like kiwi shampoo!
Decent longevity and projection. Spring/Summer only

share

I am late to the party on this one! Wow! I love this fun, fruity scent- just perfect for summer. I can find nothing to be critical about. Holidays in a bottle! One spray and it makes you feel happy! A fabulous addition to my perfume wardrobe.

share

lucasthiring

VERY fruity!! The kiwi shines through beautifully! A very nice summer scent!

share

vpace91

I love it but be careful spraying on clothes, it becomes rather powdery on my clothes which made me sneeze a couple times. Very feminine scent. I spray it on my arms and love it.

share

verity3

This definitely has a "hairspray" note... but it smells GOOD? Nevertheless it does get old. Too bad. It's otherwise a yummy fruity floral, with Kiwi and Orange, and something that smells like it could be Peony pixie stix. Could have been a "love" for me.

What is it in perfumes that creates that "hairspray" note? Is it whatever chemicals they used for the Jasmine and Musk?

share

dragobwol

Since I first smelled this perfume back in May of 2023, I’ve been IN LOVE. It’s been my favorite since then. I got it as a sample from Sephora (back when they used to actually give samples..) and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I decided to splurge and actually buy the full bottle and I couldn’t be happier. It has an amazing fresh and fruity kiwi and orange smell, but it dries down to smell a little muskier in a sort of way which smells amazing. I do find that it dosent last TOO long, which is a bit disappointing for the price, but I get so many compliments it’s very worth it. The bottle is gorgeous too, but don’t let it fool you, the full size of this fragrance has a LOT of liquid which is undermined by the illusion of a thick bottle. Overall very beautiful and sexy summer fragrance, my GOAT.

share

Gabsp28

This one surprised me, I'm not a huge fan of fruity scents, I own some but don't reach for them often. The kiwi in the opening is quite realistic, I love it, I don't get much rose, I get the jasmine, it's soft and not overbearing, musk is subtle, it's a lovely fresh/ light fragrance with a touch of sweetness. will be perfect in the summer and spring times, even though I wear all my perfumes all year round. It's not as long lasting as I would like, for the price it sells at is a bit disappointing, but a lovely addition to my collection . I must say though, I do prefer the coral fantasy slightly more than the donna intense, which is why I'm so surprised, as the intense is usually more my style.

share

K8lo

Love at first sniff!! My sister in law had this and the smell was perfection: classy, feminine, sexy, sweet and sophisticated. Smells expensive. I had to buy the travel size just to test it out on my body chemistry before buying a full 100 mL bottle. Just finished up the travel size and ordered the full bottle! So excited. Bottle packaging is perfection, cant wait to showcase it in my collection. It is a very juicy scent with fruity notes but has a nice bite as well which makes it sexy and enchanting. It lasts very well on fabric / clothes. Only a few hrs on skin though. OK sillage. I am a huge spring/summer scent person and plan to make this my go-to fragrance. Classy, fruity, fresh, sexy and juicy.

Cons: It has no resemblance to the OG Born in Roma (which for me is great because the original was a bit too heavy / cloying)

share

Contessa01

I’m really liking this one! I kept seeing it recommended and to be honest thought I wouldn’t like it or that it would be a very generic fruity floral. I feel it brings something new while still being familiar. I don’t know of a dupe. I would say it’s like one part Escada taj sunset and one part D&G L’imperatice and musk added. I can detect the kiwi too. Familiar yet unique.

share

NadiasmellsGorgeous

When I read the notes, I immediately was turned off. Sounds juvenile. However, this is the kiwi perfume I didn’t know I needed. It smells better than the original, and adds a very upbeat tropical vibe to my day. Very summery and fun.

share

Emilie1806

Love this! It’s my signature scent during the summer time, and I’m Looking forward to wearing it then. Tropical, fruity, flirty and fresh mermaid vibes. It’s strong and long lasting.

share

Kiwi and orange are the dominant notes. This scent is best described as fruity, tropical and sweet. It is not cheap smelling like a lot of celebrity fragrances in this category. Although a little plasticky on first sprits, this scent is quite sophisticated and is a step up from celebrity fruity fragrances. I do like how this scent is kiwi dominant, the orange doesn't overpower the kiwi although I thought it would. Ideal for spring/summer; fresh, clean, fruity and tropical. It is a happy scent with a positive vibe and projection power is fair for the price. Not very unique, but it's non offensive and a safe blind buy as a gift.

A really underrated perfume. At the beginning there is this almost sour note which makes my nose scrunch a bit, which is why i did not like it at first when i tried it in store. But on the skin, after a few minutes, it turns into a sweet tropical kiwi lemonade scent with a hint of blooming flowers, that just makes me happy when i get a whiff of it thoughout the day. Youghtful, happy, bubbly fragrance. Definetely a summer scent, but can be worn all year round in my opinion. So excited to finally have it in my collection.

share

Gionnijulius1820

Headache inducing, kiwi, orange, jasmine musk, mixed with hairspray. very sharp & strong at 1st, but the sillage dies off and your left with nothing but a headache. It is very feminine & very summer appropriate. Not my type of scent. This is coming from someone who isn't that picky, I like a wide range of scents AND I long STRONG beast mode frags & I never get a headache from fragrance...til now. For this price I believe you can find way better. Unless you love sharp citrus, sweet, alcoholic type scents.

share

i tried this randomly at the mall and i loved it sooo much. Its fruity and sweet. I would love to purchase this in the spring or summer, it would be such a lovely scent to wear

share

silverlocusts

This is a lovely and light floral-fruity perfume for spring and summer. In the bottle, the color is so appealing, like a very refreshing drink on a warm, sunny day. The scent kinda captures that vibe as well. It is fresh, fruity, and invigorating. It doesn't last as long as the original DBIR, but it is still a nice scent. And so popular, even in winter. It is an easy crowd pleaser that isn't too over the top, so IMHO it is a fairly safe blind buy if you like zingy fruit punch scents that are still grown up perfumes.

I didn't think I would like this. I sprayed it on the tester strips at Sephora on a couple visits and it never really grabbed me. However, on my last trip, I sprayed it on my arm instead. And I fell in love with it. They dry down is so fruity--like melons and kiwis--and it's just so pleasant and sweet. It's sort of like a yummy shampoo scent. I really like it for days when I just want to smell sweet and I don't feel like making a bold statement. It's perfect for spring and summer, but I find myself enjoying it this winter, as well. I get good longevity from it -- around 6 hours. I love the OG DBIR and I don't think these are very similar.

This perfume is very uninspiring. I kept hearing good things about it, from so many sources, that I decided to get a sample.

Okay. You know when you walk by someone or give someone a hug, and you think, “oh, they’re wearing perfume.” It’s not a negative thought or a positive thought, simply an observation? That’s how this perfume feels. Like — oh. It’s perfume.

Sure it’s fruity, but it’s so artificial smelling. The alcohol is *strong* throughout. I definitely see the coral inspiration, it *almost* smells like a sundress and sandals on a summer beach in Maine, but … it doesn’t. It just smells like perfume. Not good, not bad, just sitting on the skin, never melding with it, announcing to the world that you are, indeed, wearing perfume.

Blegh.

share

CactusBlossom

UPDATE: Afer months of wearing ... It is light, breezy but also mysterious with that unexpected and playful little kiwi note. It leans slightly tropical and does have a clean shampoo aspect to it which I adore. While Jasmine is listed as the white floral, I still pick up more of a Jasmine Tea vibe which fades over time into a very delicate and slightly sweet rose scent.

BONUS: I really enjoyed wearing this all summer. However. To my surprise I have been reaching for it this winter - with two sprays a day on my sweater lasting hours. I receive compliments every single time from both men and women while out and about with this one. I see a lot of people saying it is generic. I think it is just easy to love.

share

Smells like cheap five dollar body mist and hairspray. The original Donna born in Roma is far superior in my opinion.

share

vargadorkaluca

I tried this many times in the store, waiting for a different outcome until...it finally happened!
On the paper strip I thought it was okay but not worth my money, one day I decided to try it on my skin and shirt and gosh I fell in love with this scent.
I don't have anything similar in my collection but if you do it's not a unique scent.
It's for those uncomplicated days when you just want to smell fresh and good.
Juicy orange and kiwi, super fresh. This last for about 2 hours and than it gets muskier and floral.
It is a little bit shampoo like on the initial spray but much less than for example Coach perfumes are to my nose.
It dries down to a musky clean comforting scent, it's laundry like.

I live in warm climate so I can get a lot of use out of citrusy and fruity perfumes so I wouldn't recommend it to someone that has long winter. For me it's a win!

I got it on a sale (55 euro for 50 ml), I would not pay full price for it.

share

DianaDelwo

It’s a basic one, but if you want to smell like a bright, sexy kiwi, this is your girl.

I bought it because I wanted a summer fragrance, and I didn’t love anything else in the store. I can’t say I would buy it again. I don’t think it was worth buying a full bottle to be honest. Not exactly a work of art, and not an attention getter.

Doesn’t last very long…

share

Goldena35

Juicy was the first word that came to mind. For me this is a purely summer scent. Doesn’t really stand out much from similar scents IMO but it is very pretty. I definitely get the jasmine in this baby, so if your not a fan I might avoid this one. Bright juicy floral with a little musk. (I do like these bottles as a side note…can’t pinpoint why but I find them appealing)

share

AuraAngelMuse

Personally I don't think this is worth the money. You can get this same scent in so many cheaper options. This smells like a mix of Ra Ra Rouge from Juicy Couture and Love Dance from La Rive. It opens really fruity and reminds me of the typical synthetic peach smell. Something in the dry down of Love Dance is present in Coral Fantasy and I really don't enjoy it. I'm not sure what note it is, but it's like some underlying musky coconut scent or something that smells super cheap. This scent is at least a good projector but it doesn't last long for me. Overall it's not bad but it's something I won't ever repurchase.

share

AUyliong

Starts of very citrusy and fruity but becomes a slightly indolic Jasmine in the drydown. Comparable to J'Adore In Joy in that it tempts you in the beginning with bright happy juicy fruits then turns around and goes jasmine and white flowers on you.

That said, Valentino had the good sense to keep the indolic-ness of the white flowers tastefully under control. It's there but it's not pungent. With the exception of J'Adore Infinissime, Dior by contrast, seems to like having the most pungent, urine-smelling white flowers they could find in their J'Adore range.

This is a like not love for me. Your mileage may vary. Office safe and very feminine. Projection and sillage is moderate and inoffensive. Longevity TBD.

UPDATE: 1 hr in the jasmine is gone, replaced by a fruity smelling rose.

Donna Born in Roma by Valentino starts with a zesty kick – the kiwi and orange burst forth with youthful exuberance. But as it settles, it takes on a playful, fruity quality that's reminiscent of girly shampoo. You won't find many identifiable flowers here, just a symphony of fruits and a clean musk note that dances in the background.

It's like a tropical vacation in a bottle – sweet, fun, and carefree. While it's versatile enough to be worn by anyone, it definitely carries a youthful charm that shines through. It's worth noting that it doesn't bear much resemblance to the original Donna fragrance, and some might find it a tad generic.

Now, about the price tag – it's a bit on the higher side for what it is, essentially a happy, summery scent. But you know what? I enjoyed it. Sometimes, you just need a fragrance that brings a smile to your face, and Donna Born in Roma does just that.

Finally tried this out at Ulta after hearing so much hype.

I mean ... It's fine? To my nose, this smells like a watermelon body splash. It smells inoffensive, but the price of the perfume certainly offends me, lol.

I just think this stuff is waaaaaay too overpriced for what it is.

share

supergirl9412

Starts off as a more-sour-than-sweet kiwi and jasmine that settles into a somewhat nondescript shampooy scent. Reminiscent of the “Ralph” line of Ralph Lauren perfumes and DKNY “Be Delicious” fragrances, if my memory serves me correctly. (It’s been ages since I’ve smelled either!) Lasting power and throw are not great.

It’s fine … definitely conjures up the feelings of the bright, summer CA days of my childhood. But it’s fairly generic overall and smells like something I would’ve worn when I was 12.

I tested in store and was totally sold on that fun fruity kiwi topnote. Since owning the travel spray, I still very much enjoy the smell but find it’s lacking in longevity compared to the original. It does turn to a musky skin scent after around 4 hours. I probably won’t buy again after the travel spray is out but it’s enjoyable for what it is.

pinkdiamond1

It is fruity, but in a shampoo-like way. It reminds me of a girly shampoo, like Herbal Essences. The type of shampoo that is a translucent pink liquid in a pink bottle decorated with flowers. It is more of a spring/summer perfume. I could see any age group wearing this, but it would be particularly popular among young girls.

share

gory-rilmore

This surprised me. It’s quite airy on first sniff. Like laundry with a strong, fruit-scented detergent. The fruitiness is similar to something I used to wear that I can’t put my finger on…maybe Ralph or Ralph cool? As it dries down, it's not a “love” but a “like” for me personally—maybe too syrupy for me—but it’s a nice flirty, feminine scent.

This is such a fun fragrance. Was thinking it might be a basic citrus but its Definitely not, it smells very pretty, great summer scent

This is the third of three Donna Born in Roma travel sprays I am trying, and finally we may have a winner. Both Born in Roma intense and Yellow Dream were not anywhere near what I was expecting (or hoping for) and both of them were scrubbed off after less than half an hour of wear. One made me smell dirty, one was like I just got done polishing the furniture. Big no. The first spray of Coral Fantasy, however, is very promising. It is the closest in "feeling" to the original for me, but with enough note differences to make sense to have both. So far, so good.

On my skin this smells just like La Rive Love Dance / Escada Rocking Rio - that is to say that it smells like quite a typical tropical fruity syrupy summer perfume. It smells young and fun but not very chic. It doesn’t really suit the bottle it comes in and could easily be worn by young girls. Don’t get me wrong, I’m 41 and I like it but I had the original rocking Rio back as a teenager and I’ve now got Love Dance for summertime tropical fun, but it’s not an expensive smelling perfume and it’s not worth Valentino prices when you can get the same profile for under a tenner. Depends how much £ you have and how much you like the pretty bottle!

..you know, I really think the name of a scent affects how it smells - how you perceive it - before I knew what this one was called I was going to say it smelled cheap and generic with an undertone whiff of public toilets/pee but then when I saw the name Coral Fantasy - and the pretty colour the scent literally changed on me - now it smells sweet, feminine and musky - I note a red berry with tropical musky/milky pineapple - that must be the mix of musk with kiwi and orange..
Interesting how the mind changes things like that :)

When i first smelled this, i LOVED it. It opens sweet and fruity from the kiwi, but dries down super citrus on my skin. The citrus holds throughout the whole performance for me. It’s really great summer scent as far as fruity, yet citrusy. However, i find that the longevity is very short and becomes super intimate after just a couple hours. I use about 4 sprays, but i mostly find myself layering this with Escada Santorini Sunrise to help it stay longer. The combo is just unbeatable for a summer mix.

Overall, i’d say 7/10 with scent, longevity and total performance. Definitely worth it if you like this type of fragrance.

Headache inducing florals in this fruity, breezy scent. Jasmine and rose kill fragrances for me and Donna swathed in Coral does exactly that for me. Thumbs down.

This is very youthful, fruity and fun. Very non offensive in my opinion. If ur looking for something mature then this isn't it. This is very sweet and innocent. The kiwi gives it a tropical feel. I like it but this strikes me more as something I'd likely wear to bed after my shower. It puts me in the mindframe of the Ed Hardy perfumes when I was a teenager.

Scent wise- i LOVE it, the kiwi and orange notes are so pleasant in the summer. But it doesn't just have a body spray type smell which sometimes ends up happening with fruity fragrances, its very feminine and perfumey. HOWEVER probably the worst staying power of all my perfumes.

share

north43star

I hate the orange in this one. It’s bitter, overpowering and unpleasant to my nose. I tried layering with other fragrances but all of the combinations are taken over by the orange note. Hard pass for me.

share

This is a nice, girly fragrance. It’s fruity, with a shampoo quality and slight laundry vibes. It smells like being clean and happy to me. I interestingly smell a berry note even though it’s not listed, perhaps that’s the kiwi.

I like this scent when it’s right from the bottle. But when it’s applied to my skin, it smells like powder from a barber shop. I then paired it with Layali Rouge from Swiss Arabian and the smell has gotten better. I wear this to work only and I always get compliments. I’m definitely going to let this sit once summer is done and hopefully it’ll be better by spring next year

Update: So my first impression in Ulta was “yuck, bug spray!”. Then I got a vile sample, hated it but I forgot about it for a couple months, and really liked it. Bought a full bottle- hate it. I don’t know whether it needs time to macerate or if it’s going to just be a no. Sad because I LOVED the vile.

This is okay- likable but not particularly exciting. Coral Fantasy basically smells like kiwi shampoo. It's certainly not a bad scent, as it's super girly and fun (although I think if you want that nostalgic watery/fruity shampoo scent Dolce + Gabbana's L'Imperatrice is superior, in my opinion!) I think this can be a great scent for teenagers or adults who want that nostalgic youthful girly vibe.

This is definitely a hot weather scent, and I mainly get juicy kiwi and a little musk. It's nice, but a bit one-dimensional and just not quite my type of fragrance.

share

bekah.beth

I LOVE this fragrance! You have to like the OG to appreciate this. It is strong and I pick up the the spicy note. This has a smoothness the OG doesn’t have and I pick up the fruit the OG doesn’t have. I originally didn’t think I needed both but for summer I much prefer this!

share

CJJLOVESFUMES

Beautiful, bright, fresh top notes get my attention every time. The kiwi is really unique.

I purchased this in winter and was disappointed by longevity so I tucked it away for summer. Over the last 6 months it’s definitely improved and now I get 3-4 hours.

I must say this comes alive in hot weather! Everything is amplified more projection and longer wear time. It’s a love for me!

share

CactusBlossom

This surprised me. Pretty, delicate, juicy, fresh, feminine, flirty. A total love. I tend to lean towards bright citruses (think Atelier Cologne Pomelo Paradis, Pacific Lime etc.) and light soapy florals (think Clean Reserve Lush Fluer, Aqua Neroli or Polo Earth). I feel I get both preferences here with Brazilian Orange/Kiwi at the top - a very pretty jasmine tea in the middle - and an ambrette that is soft (most ambrette perfumes have made me feel ill in the past). The musk is enticing and not overbearing. My skin does not pick up a lot of Rose or Wood notes here. Lots of projection for me the first two hours. And it lasted a solid 4 hours on my skin, a little longer on my clothes.

Update: On me Coral Fantasy does not smell like D&G L'Imperatrice - even though they both have kiwi as a note. With my body chemistry the D&G frag goes sour like wet rotting fruit. Coral Fantasy stays bright and eases into a slightly sweet and warm "your skin but better" dry down. Someone else called the dry down elegant and slightly sexy. I totally agree.

This beautiful summer scent smells pleasantly tropical and fresh on me all day, and I’ve received many compliments while wearing it. My boyfriend loves it too!

share

cats_eye

My coworker wears this and Idole. I can barely tell them difference between the two.

share

vibrant.girl

Came here to say, this is *almost exactly* like L'Imperatrice from D&G but with kiwi instead of watermelon in the top note. Currently wearing one on each arm and after the first 15-20min, you get the same vaguely watery-musky fruit. Both are lovely and easy to wear! But I don't think you need both.

I think the entire DBIR line can be summed up as: "lovely, highly-wearable scents with moderate performance." They're a safe buy as a gift - my little cousin (17) and my mom (58) both love and wear one of the versions. Because they're not challenging or groundbreaking, they're lovely to have for a day you don't want to think about smelling 'nice'.

share

supremejasminefan

I bought this as an everyday summer fragrance and it certainly fills that niche! It's youthful and well-made without requiring any sort of pretense to wear. I wouldn't consider it "signature scent-worthy" for most people, but during hot weather it's definitely a frequent wear for me.

On me, it's a refreshing fruity floral that really does invoke the sea in the summer. My skin can be weird with musk, so on me it's more of a creamy fruit/floral scent than a musky one, but I would test it if you're worried (or excited) about the musk to see what it's like on you. In terms of longevity, it has decent sillage indoors for about 2-3 hours before fading to an intimate skin scent with just a hint of a trail. I mostly reserve this one for the outdoors, because a sunny day really helps it pop if you're looking to wear it for longer than that.

It's a fun summer scent -- give it a try!

Smells very upbeat and zesty! I love perfumes like this for summer. Am I the only one who's getting the green vegetal scent in the dry down? It's almost like fresh cucumber.

share

Hmm, what to say. I absolutely adore this perfume. It has everything I was looking for in a new summery scent. I've tried it twice with 2 generous sprays on each arm, and 2 on the decollette, and I was really sad that it didn't last with my skin/pheramones. I definitely recommend trying it on in a store to see if it lasts for you, because I COULD smell it on the sales gal - but unfortunately it just didn't work for me. Gorgeous scent, very much a well crafted DNA.

share

ina.rem

Coral Fantasy is a light and modern fragrance that is reminiscent of the popular L'Imperatrice by D&G. Kiwi is in the opening. While the scent is pleasant, it does require replication throughout the day as it does not last long. Decent fragrance for those who are looking for a light and refreshing scent for summer. I will not invest in the full bottle as I have D&G in my collection.

share

I absolutely love this, fruity florals are a win win for me, this will definitely be one of my spring/summer 2023 easy grabs. It's true that it's nothing groundbreaking, it's simply simple, and for me that's awesome; This plays well with my skin chemistry, it's a summer fruit bowl of goodness, the florals sit in the back where I prefer they'd be, and the musk is just pretty and feminine; most of all, it doesn't give me a headache. It's a keeper for me.

share

Ursula-Rod

I just got this one and it doesn’t smell how I remembered it in store. I like the opening but I’m not a fan of the dry down. I was hoping the fruits stayed a while longer smells woody with a hint of sweet tooth paste to me. I’ll play with it a little longer and decide if I’ll return it.

share

Sreza7

This is going to be my summer 2023 fragrance. I absolutely adore this. It opens up very fruity and juicy (think Fiji sunshine bath and body works), but as it dries down the kiwi, ambrette and musk really come out (i get a slight chlorinated pool water vibe) It’s super unique and sexy IMO. it gives me summertime by the pool, i can smell the pollen in the air as a warm breeze flows by me, next to me is a bowl of kiwi, guava, oranges and a vase of flowers.

share

briannadedrew

Somehow it manages to be even more boring and generic than the original, just in a fruity musky way instead of in a woody vanilla way. It’s not disruptive or unpleasant, it’s not going to offend anyone. But I would never smell this on someone and think “wow, they smell so good!” I’d just think “yeah they’re wearing perfume”. There’s Britney Spears fragrances that are more interesting than this line. Heck, there’s even Bath & Body Works scents more compelling.

share

mussulisa

This is nice and fresh, little bit floral, good for spring and summer. Lasts an ok amount of time for me. I wished it was more sweet though. The notes are accurate to what it smells like. Completely different from the original born in roma, which I absolutely love. Compared to that one this is nothing special, but I still think it's a good scent and something most people would like. Same family of scents as l'imperatrice but they're not dupes.

I tested this at macys and after wearing it for a whole day I bought a 3.4 oz bottle. I usually test perfumes for longer, but this was just so simple and likeable. There's nothing odd smelling or too complex. It might be too simple for people who want more uniqueness, but I really enjoy it. The opening is quite citrusy and fruity. It's very bright making it perfect for the daytime and especially warmer months. I get a heavy splash of sweet fruits. The kiwi and orange are blended perfectly, it's hard to detect exactly what kind of fruit it is. Within 30 mins to an hour the citrus softens up and you get some of the floral notes, but the fruit is still there which I like. On my skin it doesn't fully shift to floral. And I prefer that because I don't like dominant florals. I like them more in the background as supporting notes. Once it starts to dry down you get more of that original Donna Born in Roma DNA, but coral fantasy isn't as strong or nauseating. The jasmine is really pretty mixed with the musk and woody notes. It becomes warm and almost like a skin scent with hints of fruits and sweetness. Personally, it's a really wearable perfume. I can't see many people disliking it.

share

Laralaritaaa

The opening is actually really good, to my nose it smells like candied watermelon. Very fruity and juicy. The drydown is basically some watermelon + white florals + heavy clean musk.
This a fruity, clean, easy reach type of scent. On me, the longevity was pretty good and projected really well. However, I can't help but find the scent profile unimpressive and forgettable.

Not bad, but also not good.

Ok so I loved this in the store.... It was bright & pretty. Well, I don't know what happened but after I now own it... Omg that Texas Cedar note or the rose in the middle just ruins it. It is so pungent. I'm wearing it right now and it's just wayyyy too strong & musky for me. I just don't get it because it wasn't that musky when I tried it in the store. 🫤 Smells like I'm wearing orange scented irish springs bar soap.

This is what I want to smell like in the summer. I know everyone thinks this is basic and generic but that's kinda what I like about this perfume. It's not doing too much, just smells like a fruity, fun and fresh kiwi shampoo. I've been on the hunt for a good summer perfume that's fresh and feminine but not old or too musky/musty smelling. I'd like to have this perfume but I'm not willing to spend 85 bucks on it. If someone gifted this to me I'd use it up but that's about it.

share

jazzscent13

The kiwi note only last the first few minutes in the opening, then you’er left with a citrusy musky scent. The performance is extremely poor for the price point. Save your money, and just buy bath and bodywork’s in this case….

It’s not bad, but smells fruity flowery and veery generic.
Not the best choice, if you want small collection or even one perfume to use only.
For teenage girls can be great. I don’t hate it but wouldn’t buy it and use it for sure.

share

noneya88

Coral Fantasy is what I would consider a "graduated" body mist... it has inferior longevity (2-3 hours) and sillage (personal to moderate), but smells well blended and "perfumey". It's very fruity and clean which makes it ideal for the Spring to Summer months, but mostly I feel like it's the perfect choice for a beginner, or someone who is looking for an inoffensive Spring to Summer fragrance.

share

MonicaLV

Smells like a generic orange/peach/mango body spray. It does have staying power but it’s nothing special that you can’t find for a way less expensive price tag.

share

ScreaminBeeman

This seems to be an unpopular opinion, but this is my favorite DBiR flanker. I tested this in store, and was immediately in love. I was looking for a new citrus scent to bring me into the warmer months and one whiff of this had me sold. The kiwi and orange combine to give me more of a grapefruit feel, so I was instantly thinking about sitting out on a patio with friends laughing and drinking a refreshing Paloma as the spring temps rise. You can definitely smell the jasmine and rose, however they're not too weighty, and they do offer a depth that you don't usually get with citrus based fragrances.

My only gripe is the same one I have with every other citrus based fragrance is its staying power. I lose it after about 4 hours, but I'm happy to reapply this one for sure.

smccmurphy

Smells like a random body fantasy spray from Walgreens. Nondescript sweet fruit and musk. Not horrible but definitely not worth the price to me.

share

To me, this smells like something peachy (peach, apricot, nectarine), something boozy (Prosecco or champagne) and sunshine. Like a fruity drink on an Italian vacay. Sweet and pleasant, but nothing to write home about in the wide field of fruity florals flooding the market.

It is similar to L’Imperatrice by Dolce & Gabbana but it is only because of the kiwi note as I used to own that one. I prefer Coral Fantasy. It is sweeter and super tropical with a blast of kiwis & oranges. I agree with the review below that it gives Caprisun Strawberry Kiwi vibes. A lot of people find it basic and uninteresting but I love this so much! It’s my perfect summer fragrance and not a lot of people wear it. Wear this when you’re wearing a sundress, a bikini on the beach, even on those humid summer nights.

It is interesting to note that many people say it has no similarities to the original DBIR but I sprayed both and could detect the white florals. DBIR dries down to a vanilla bomb while Coral Fantasy takes the musky fruity route. It is the fruitiest and sweetest one out of the entire Born in Roma line.

Edit: I’m surprised this isn’t as laidback as I thought it would be. I tend to only really reach for Coral Fantasy on summer days when I’m dolled up in a sundress. I love wearing it when I’m laying by the pool, having brunch with girlfriends, hot summer nights in a beach lounge. Wearing it casually makes me want to abandon my responsibilities and get a tan LOL it’s so tropical.

Love how these last two releases have been more bright beautiful and musky floral fragrances that aren’t as heavy as the original BIR. They add a clean element, and while the Yellow Dream is one of my absolute favorites this Coral Fantasy utilizes a more sweet top note so if you prefer a little more sweetness balanced with the fresh facets this is the one I’d recommend. The Yellow Dream is a little more powdery and beautiful in my opinion, with this one being a little more fun but also sexy. Neither are as provocative as the original BIR, but for my nose and taste I much prefer them, with the edge going to the YD. I will say upon smelling this CF I knew I would immediately be getting it for my Fiancé so it’s definitely some great smelling stuff that offers a different dimension to the line. Overall I gotta say I am a huge fan of what Valentino is doing with the BIR line for both men and women, all the releases have been really strong.

I don’t like assigning seasons to scents, but realistically most people will probably prefer Coral Fantasy in the spring and summer. Personally, I enjoy it all year round and find it very versatile. Do not assume that you’ll like this if you like the OG, they’re not even in the same family. Personally I like the original, but not enough to buy a whole bottle. It smells like a bunch of other perfumes I have…mixed together. I can’t explain it, but it’s much more boozy and spicy than this. Also I get berries from the original, while this one is citrus/kiwi dominant. The only thing this has in common with the OG is that whole “smells like a mix of everything else” quality in the opening, however it’s the kiwi that starts to set it apart after about 30 minutes. The citrus, rose, kiwi, and musk just smell so good together.

I don’t think it smells like anything in the “reminds me of” section. I don’t really care for D&G L’Imperitrace, I find it to be much more fleeting and uninteresting than this, and it has a sour note that I can’t put my finger on, maybe the rhubarb. This has much better staying power, it’s more interesting, and it’s really well blended. It’s very easy to wear and I think if you like any of the musky citrus florals like Bright Crystal, you’ll probably enjoy this…just keep in mind that the kiwi is quite distinct, but it’s also what sets it apart and makes it more unique.

This is smells sooo good! It's like a sweet, serious strawberry. It opens heavy on the sweet citrus. Most people will probably want it for only spring and summer, however the citrus muskiness with cedar reminds me of fall spices and orange apple cider at Christmas. It's very fresh and pleasant. The sweetness tips over the nausea point for me, I wish it didn't.

As another reviewer stated, jolly ranchers is a great description of Coral Fantasy. Its bright and fruity. I get a lot of the orange and jasmine to follow it up. Perfect for summer, whereas I'd say the original is more for fall. Yellow Dream falls somewhere in between for me.

I have not worn this yet but i got the trio of travel sprays. I am wearing yellow dream now (and i really like it). Very different from anything else i have.
Update: i did wear this and i really like it, but yellow dream is my fave of the three.
When i sprayed coral fantasy i definitely get like a watermelon bubblegummy scent, or like others have mentioned, jolly ranchers/sweet tart type confections. I think both yellow dream and coral fantasy are very youthful feeling, probably a bit more youthful than the OG BIR. That is not a bad thing - it is just the family of scents i would put this in. Both yellow dream and coral fantasy are the kind of scents i would wear to walk the boardwalk at the jersey shore😁 and that is a huge compliment actually bc i hold the jersey shore in very high regard! I have great memories of wildwood nj and it has a certain vibe you cant find anywhere else. This is what these 2 scents are perfect for!

Nondescript fruity floral musk. Rather generic. While the original born in Roma wasn’t the most original scent, it at least had some sparkle. I’d stick with the original.

This is a fun, fresh, watery floral! It’s pretty different from the original Donna Born in Roma - far lighter and not as sweet. It does have an ending note that reminds me of synthetic fruity shampoo, which could be better, but the kiwi note is still really original! The drydown is much muskier. This scent still isn’t anything to write home about, but it gets the job done.

share

Jojo Ali

I absolutely love the scent, it was my favorite during summer 22, however the only problem I have with it is the longevity. I don't think I'll buy it again next summer since the price is way too much for a weak performance. It's such a disappointment that such a beautiful fruity, and clean scent has a bad performance.

share

Woodlaw08

Very pleasant fruity scent! I feel like this would be really nice on warmer weather and perfect for daytime.

share

AlliCat1215

As others have said it’s a pleasant, fruity, summery scent, but overprice considering the sillage and longevity. Nothing super remarkable or impressive.

share

cookygirl

Lovely, refreshing fruity scent.
The fizzy opening is the best part but the drydown is very nice too and pretty faithful to the opening.
However, as others have pointed out, this is just not unique enough to command the outrageous price that it is sold for in many countries including mine, moreover it has very weak staying power.
L'Imperatice is close enough, at least in concept, and it literally costs here less than 25% of what this sells for.
I'd love to own this if it ever gets heavily discounted, but even if it never does come down in price I won't be heartbroken. There are and will be many others like it..

Edit 15/1/23 - So, I actually was able to snag a 15 ml. travel spray quite cheaply. Really surprising how reasonable the travel sprays of this series are here considering how disproportionately expensive the full bottles are. I'm saving it for summer and I'm really looking forward to using it then.

share

Britt24

Omg I simply love this perfume! It’s my go to Summer scent,I got it in a travel size & instantly brought the full bottle. This is my favorite flanker out the whole line I don’t really care for the original because to me it smells like a typical sweet floral scent I tend to either go for sweet gourmand or fruity scents which is exactly what this perfume is. When I first spray it I get the fruity opening of the kiwi&orange and the dry down gives me a nice clean scent thanks to the musk& cedar. I think this scent is perfect it just doesn’t last too long but I still reach for it every time I go out!

share

bella99bella

A very fruity and fresh opening which I love. However, I’m very disappointed to find out this fruitiness only lasts up to half an hour until it changes into something musky and shampoo-y. A few minutes later I cannot smell it all. So, it’s very weak in terms of longevity.

If I could return it I would, only because it’s nothing special and I have other fruity smells that last longer and I would rather spend my money on other perfumes that perform better. I had really high hopes considering its retail price and that it’s an EDP, but to me this performs like an EDT if not even like a body mist.

Definitely not worth its retail price, but if you somehow find it for much cheaper and you like light, fruity scents and don’t mind reapplying throughout the day, this would be a good go-to-scent for those summer days I think.

Valentino Donna Born in Roma Coral Fantasy has got to be one of the most unremarkable fragrances I have ever tried. It was first teased last December and it's taken me almost 9 months to get my hands on a sample. Sadly, this was not worth the wait. It's true that I hyped this fragrance up in my mind and that's no fault of the fragrance itself. But, even if I hadn't hyped this up there is NO WAY I would be satisfied by this fragrance. Considering this is a flanker of Donna Born in Roma, I expected Coral Fantasy to retain SOME of the DNA from DBIR, but no. Nothing. At first spray I smell very faint kiwi and orange, but that completely disappeared within a half hour. All that's left now, 3 hours after application, is a very faint rose and musk smell that is only detectable when I put my nose right up to my wrist. I really hoped this would smell like DBIR, but with kiwi and orange added LOL. I'm sure I can get that effect by layering a more fruity fragrance with my bottle of DBIR, but the concept of Coral Fantasy was a nice one and it's not fun to be letdown.

Maybe my sample needs awhile to macerate (has this been debunked as a myth?? I'm honestly not sure) so I won't write this fragrance off completely...but my goodness I was NOT expecting this to suck so damn hard.

I would never buy this or even ask for it as a gift. I'm so glad I didn't blind buy this when it came out!

This reminds me of L’Imperatrice slightly. In store I really liked this. It smelled bright and delicious, like green jolly ranchers. It was beautiful! But when I got home and sprayed it on my skin, I was so disappointed. It literally smelled boring on me lol! I was so confused! It smelled like oranges and kiwi but in a flat way. I was so upset lol Figured it just didn’t work for my body chemistry.

This smells exactly like the garnier fructis sleek & shine shampoo. Would be a pleasant crowd pleaser for the summer months but not something I think is worth the retail price. A pass for me at the moment.

Tried it - forgot it. After like half hour, it was gone.
Valentino’s are nit famous for great longevity, but this one is particularly weak.
Smell is just a regular summery sweet juice, not remarkable at all

This is one of those scents where I was really torn if I should rate them as a like or as ok. I like the kiwi note, it's really recognizable and it's not as overused as some other fruits. But the rest of the scent? Totally unremarkable and okay. It smells like a sweet, fruity shampoo with a hint of rose. There is a lot of clean white musk in this, which makes it feel a little creamy. Like a white shampoo, not a transparent one, if that makes sense. I would actually love to wash my hair with something in this scent family, but I wouldn't chose it as a perfume when there are so many other options.

I see no relation between Coral Fantasy and the original Born in Roma, and I also don't get any coral vibes from this. Green and pink maybe. The naming seems so random, I'm curious which color they will do next.

When I saw how many people voted this is as similar to my beloved L'Imperatrice I was a little shocked. I guess I can see where they're coming from, both have the sweet kiwi note and smell really fresh and clean, but I like L'Imperatrice so much more, it has a such a mouthwatering texture that I just don't get here.

So fruity and bright. This reminds me of Bath and Body Works Fiji Sunshine Guavatini 2022 which I LOVE. That smells like sweet orange juice to my nose and I guess alittle guava. So it makes sense that Coral Fantasy smells alike because they both have orange in it. I get a lot of orange and kiwi from this. Sweet

Okay I LOVE THIS oh so much! The name is right, the smell is right it’s summer in a pretty bottle. Funny enough, I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE almost all of the Escada fragrances that get put out but I never once thought this smelled like ANY of those but yet so many people find this similar to a wide variety of Escada fragrances and I just don’t get it, love them both but it’s not there! I wish this wasn’t so expensive because it’s $146 dollars CAD at SDM for the 50 ML size or something absurd like that and I refuse to pay that much, well I would if I wasn’t laid off right now and inflation wasn’t driving me up the darn wall (sorry I will end my rant or try to at least lol) for now it’s just the refill of my travellos at SDM the occasional time I get out of the house, I use to go almost daily but since gas prices are so high I’m usually only there once a mo th now, it’s such a bummer because fragrance aisles are my happy place, ya know??? Anyone else miss pre-inflation life? Or better yet pre Covid ? Oy!!!! What a hell of a few years!!!

Completely pointless after the triumph of Born In Roma. This is yet another sour, kind of fresh, jammy rose.

share

likesleet

ehhhh the musky dry-down is kind of a jumpscare compared to how bright, young, girly, and fruity the top notes are. random af, idk who this is for.

Smells like a shampoo, even has a feeling of "I just breathed in some suds" when I smell it. Definitely pick up the kiwi, musk, rose. Smells cheap like a BBW or Victoria secret mist.
Not a safe blindbuy imo, smell before you purchase.

Edit: also poor longevity. Maybe got 2 hours out of 8 sprays (I was really trying to use my sample vial up ha) my coworker said it smelled good but also agreed it smelled like a bath&body mist.
however!! I do have to say I noticed the high comparison to D&G 3, and 3 smelled so bad and sour on my skin but this did not (alot of things turn sour on my skin for some reason) so if you have that issue too but want something a little fruity you might be able to get away with this one.

fruit is a little overwhelming, smells more like pear/apple to me like a golden apple tree

I tried mixing with Juliette Has A Gun Not A Perfume and it's perfect now

Got a sample and cannot get enough. I don’t get shampoo vibes.. I would say Marc Jacobs perfect has more shampoo vibes for me. I also cannot distinguish the notes.. it smells well blended in me,. Cannot get kiwi or rose., it smells citrusy musky sweet for me.. sweet not syrupy fresh sweet like a fruit. I also have no issues with how long it lasts.. I sprayed it this morning and can still smell it 8+ h hours and I showered. I like Valentino born in Roma and I don’t smell the same DNA. I will be looking into purchasing a full bottle myself. I don’t like white florals much and I have been looking for a summer perfume and everything I come across is white florals. . This is great!

mon_cherri

This was love at first sniff, but something about it comes across as screechy to me now. I don’t know if it’s the kiwi, but I feel this is a fruity scent that isn’t well balanced.

It’s a fruity explosion, and that’s saying a lot, considering that I’m a diehard fruit lover. I try to avoid over spraying this because it can easily give me headaches.

Fruity shampoo. Can't see anyone past 16 years old wearing it.

Very fruity & girly - think of weird mix of strawberry, kiwi, ice lolly, like some old Escada perfume, i dislike it on my skin. Cannot believe it’s Valentino.. scrubber 🧽 for me but deliciously fruity for others 🫣

Update: on clothes, it is fresh fruity strawberry and it's really now growing on me <3

Oh my! The fruity opening is lovely! I really get juicy watermelon and grapefruit if I needed to guess...not at all mandarin and kiwi. But you know? I'm learning that fruit accords are so subjective, and they really vary from fragrance to fragrance, oftentimes the aromachemicals overlap anyway. I *personally* smell watermelon and grapefruit,. It's really refreshing and enjoyable, and I wish it lingered more 🍉

As it dries, my interest fades somewhat - it becomes a pleasant musky floral. I find it less sharp than Yellow Dream was, but you can absolutely tell that they're sister fragrances. YD is the sharper, spikier younger sister who acts out for attention, but Coral Fantasy is the middle child who remains diplomatic and polite in all circumstances (the original BIR is the oldest and adopted, she's not of the same DNA), all 3 are crowd-pleasing, but they go about it differently.

This isn't really remarkable past the opening, but since it's such a clean musk I think it's suitable for hot summer days. I think it's overpriced personally, but if it were half the cost I think it would qualify as a decent easy-reach purchase.

Super juicy and delicious kiwi top notes! Unfortunately that disappears really quickly and then you're left with a pretty generic floral scent.

🪸C O R A L F A N T A S Y 🍑🥝 definitely smells DIFFERENT from all the other BORN IN ROMA flankers, BUT this is NOT a UNIQUE or special creation. A Lighter, Fun, Pretty, SAFE & VERY likable… enough to be an everyday signature scent

A sweet fruity floral with a bit of musk. This is easy fragrance to wear, and VERY appropriate for wear during the hotter days.

I got a delightful opening with the Kiwi 🥝 & mandarin orange at the top followed by florals in the dry down. The musk creates a powdery effect at the end but the fruitiness stays throughput on my skin..

When over-sprayed & layered it lasts a little more than 4 hours. There is some projection, a scent trail & sillage which got me compliments.

It"s pretty I enjoyed my sample but I do not know if I'm gonna get a full bottle. I do smell the kiwi in here and love it but I find the whole concotion a little too sweet for hot Italian Spring and Summer seasons.Projects mildly snd stays strong ish for a couple of hours and then fades. I much prefer the BIR Yellow dream which was also a little sweet but with gorgeous citrusy roses.

this doesn’t last on me i only get two hours I won’t be purchasing a bottle

This opens pleasantly, fresh & fruity albeit very shampoo-like as mentioned by several others here. Unfortunately there’s something in the dry down which doesn’t agree with me and reminds me of stale sweat. Fortunately it doesn’t project very well!

My nose must be broken because I'm not getting kiwi at all. It's definitely floral, musky, powdery for sure. I agree with other reviewers that it reminds me of Idole, there's almost no sillage since you have to put your nose right where you sprayed, it fades very fast within an hour or 2, and it's really nothing special for the price.

Edit (11/29/22): Tried this again now that it's colder and the scent and performance is pretty much the opposite of my initial review. The fresh kiwi blasted through until this dried down. One spray in the crook of my elbow had endless lasting power and wafted around me, even through a long sleeve. I went from thinking this was very "meh" to loving it.

Coral Fantasy smells really good. It is sweet, juicy, a little tropical from the kiwi and very light. It is the least similar of the BIR flankers. It is missing the bourbon vanilla in the drydown. She does not have the presence of Born in Roma or Yellow Dream (I love both of those!)

Performance is the issue here for me. There is no sillage that I can tell and she does not last for more than 2 hours. Although it is a really nice 2 hours, if I want to smell it, I have to put my nose where I sprayed. I feel like she behaves like an EDT. A Valentino EDP should perform waaaay better.

Pretty but nothing special for me. It's sweet and juicy, but I would never be able to distinguish it if I smelled it somewhere.
Might shine brighter in warmer weather!

Initial spray gives me Loreal kids shampoo in kiwi scent. Yes. The fish shaped bottle. The dry down however is playful and feminine and just everything I wanted from Yellow dream but this one did it. It smells like fresh kiwi on the beach with just a hint of musk. Its fruity at first but the drydown is less juvenile and makes it okay for lets say a “professional setting” The silage and longevity however are just shameful for a Valentino scent. Normally i can smell the OG DBIR as im putting something i wore days ago in the laundry. With this one i get nothing. Even my deodorant drowns it out. If they just went a bit more intense with this one i would have bought another one on the spot.

This was unexpected! I wasn’t a fan of the other born in Roma’s but this one surprised me. It’s a fruity kiwi shower gel type scent, it may not be the most sophisticated scent but on a hot summer day you don’t necessarily want a heavy complex fragrance - on those type of days this is perfect! Fruity, tropical, uplifting and like you’ve just taken a shower with a gorgeous smelling shampoo.

Would recommend to anyone who loves fruity fragrances particularly tropical ones (anyone who likes melon would probably enjoy this).

I was so excited to add this to my collection based on the notes because the other Donna's just didn't work for me, but I still wanted the bottle for aesthetic. I'm not sure what I expected it to smell like, because kiwis don't have much of a scent. I think we more so relate to the sweet taste of kiwi.. To me, the top notes are practically nonexistent. I pick up mainly on rose & ambrette. If I want to wear a predominantly "musk mallow" fragrance, I can wear others at half the price. Coral Fantasy is headed back to the store✌️

The opening of this one was a beautiful kiwi and I was going to purchase but decided to walk around for a bit and wait for the dry down. Unfortunately, the dry down didn’t work for me. I was left with nothing but musk. If you love a strong, musky scent this is for you.

Kiwi, rose, wood, and musk. It's a fruity rose scent. Smells like a kiwi rose shampoo. Almost verging on too much rose for me personally but it's nice. At first I was like whoa this is really light but over the past couple of hours I get whiffs of it here and there. It's nice.

Kiwi is a first for me, and I love eating them. 2022 Summer Fragrance for sure! This fragrance is 10/10 for me. Valentino always makes quality fragrances, they manage to make masterpieces without having anything off-putting. The opening is a bit citrusy, but after 15 minutes it calms down and the dry down becomes mouthwatering. I can't explain this in words, but every time my girlfriend sprays this on her, I just want to come close and smell it over and over. Something about the fragrance is so alluring.

The longevity is there, around 5-7 hours. This is great for a citrus, fruity fragrance. Usually those don't last as long as the heavy dark fragrances.

However this one is a bit expensive though, but that's most likely because it is a new release.
If you see this one at a store, please go and try it out for yourself. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Got a sample and the opening is very citrusy and I’m not much into that.. but then it evolved into this aquatic fruity citrus scent. I am very surprised I really like this. I prefer it better than the orig born in Roma and actually I don’t get any of the DNA notes. Dry down is still fruity. I don’t get any musk and I would prefer for it to have a sweeter note or a woodsy note to town down the fruitiness and make it more mature. I don’t feel like it’s body spray material but def not a signature scent either. If you like Versace crystal (pink or yellow) or one of the fruity perfumes from juicy couture this is something similar. Inoffensive summer frag. I would say it is a safe blind buy.

aligda99

uplifting summery fruity citrus scent. Definitely basic and mass appealing, but there's nothing wrong with that if you enjoy it. It reminds me of the old bath and body works scent called Pure Paradise. This is a good basic summer scent that could definitely work for younger people - there are no overly mature musky notes or anything here

A lovely scent! It's floral with a bit of fruity sweetness to balance it out. I definitely feel like I've smelled a body spray like this before. Regardless this still a nice fragrance, well blended! I personally don't find it similar to D&G 3, this one has a very prominent jasmine note

kjswimmer8

I am absolutley in love with this. The kiwi is such a unique note and it shines through the entire time it's on my skin. I got compliments about the smell and I honestly just love it. For me, it's better than the original and the perfect spring/summer scent.

Reminds me of a retired fragrance by Bath & Body Works. It smells almost identical to Pearberry. The only reason I know that is because that was my sig scent as a teenager. Lol

Very happy go lucky type of perfume. Will definitely brighten your day. That Kiwi note just adds something fun and different. I don’t usually see Kiwi in perfumes. But it’s beautiful.

Smells very very similar to D&G l’imperatrice. So you don’t need both.

Lovely, uplifting fresh fruity scent for summer. Nothing groundbreaking but perfect for those days when the sun is out and you just want to feel and smell really good. Could easily be layered over something like Idole as well so very versatile. The perfect easy reach for warm weather.

Loving this. I actually prefer it to the original. To my nose and on my skin… beautiful fruity floral with great sillage.

share

whimsyandhoney

A nice fruity floral for summer. Nothing remarkable, but it’s pleasant and seems to last longer than others in its category… L’imperatrice by D&G, I’m looking at you.

The citrus in this is nicely blended in. It’s not giving me lemon toilet cleaner vibes like Yellow Dream did, thankfully.

It doesn’t have a ton of similarity to the OG (hot pink) Donna Born in Roma, but it does carry that sweetened floral undertone, without being too sweet.

mermaidylady

Reminds me a bit of Idole. Fruity top notes followed by rose and musk. Longevity is not great. Definitely for spring and summer wear.

I get Kiwi Rose and Musk.

share

stefani valini

Kiwi, roses and jasmine are the strongest notes. Its perfect for summer and spring. It as something aquatic. I prefere the opening. The drydown is very basic, not my type of scent (opening yes). In the dry down roses are stronger, too much for my taste.

The longevity and projection are great. The original is way better. Valentino could have given another name, because they are really different and this one does not have the same DNA

I tried this in Sephora and I was amazed by the opening. It was so juicy, fresh, and sweet. It felt heartwarming, beautiful, and pretty sexy. It was so oddly delicious I thought it must have vanilla up top. I want to get it for my gf if only for that amazing opening since the dry down seems pretty standard, although I didn’t get to experience it thoroughly. I’m guessing this is going to be one of the better daily freshies that will uplift and increase confidence during warmer temperatures.

The only other scent that I smelled today that was a close second was Si Passion Eclat, that one was similarly uplifting and just felt so adorable and comforting, it made me smile. YSL Libre EDP and Intense were great but were more so calming with the prominent lavender. Intense leaned a bit more clubby with the vanilla in the base. I was honestly more impressed by Bright Crystal Absolu with the sweet pomegranate in the top. I suppose Spring is beginning to warm up in NYC, so it’s fair these scents appealed a lot to me as a guy.

My gf pretty much agreed with all my sentiments. I’m definitely going to keep smelling this when I visit stores.

This is a clean, fresh, right out of the shower fruity scent. The original Valentino Donna, and Donna Born in Roma are both so unique and unforgettable. This is NOTHING of the sort. It smells very generic, and I actually totally see the similarity to VLJ Soiree others have pointed out. It reminds me of so many other fragrances that have a generic fruity floral clean shower vibe. I get the slight fruity orange opening note, and then generic florals. I don't spell any of the other specific notes listed here. This is such a disappointment from Valentino who always makes unforgettable unique scents. Also they put like ZERO effort into the bottle lol?? They could've done so much more creative stuff with it.

share

DonDonna

I bought it because I love the original born in roma (pink bottle).
It's a fresh scent so great when the weather is nice, but I feel like it can be overwhelming in a hot day. The orange is a bit too much for my liking. When I first tried it I enjoyed it but over time the only thing I could smell on my skin was orange.

share

Joshhiggins32

This had a tough bar to reach with Donna born in Roma being in my top 5 favorites out of collection. That being said I really like this! It’s got the fruity side of BIR but it doesn’t carry the same smell. It’s distinct enough on its own to want it as well also the bottles are very pleasing having them all lined up. This is a fruity floral musk but has a unique twist about itself that makes it better than many others I’ve tried! I find the kiwi to be sweet instead of sour and the orange is not bitter or sour either! It’s a sweet delicious fruity smell. The performance is just like the born in Roma. Lasts well and projects nicely! I think it’s worth the money, give it a try if the notes speak to you or if you like the BIR.
