i got this a couple of days ago and i love the smell of it, the apple is very prominent in the opening and you get the tobacco in the dry down. the only thing i don’t like is the performance on my skin.

One of the most unique and sexy designer fragrances. Versatility is elite, performance is elite, and smell is elite. Starts out blazing fresh with apple, cardamom, lavender, and bergamot, then dries down into an absolutely heavenly warm and sweet tobacco with vetiver. You can wear it all year I'd argue. Lasts all day on me. People will want to get close to you when you wear this. My girlfriend is obsessed with it. The Born in Roma line just doesn't miss.

I only got this a few days ago (And was initially questioning my purchase) but this scent is constantly growing on me and becoming a favourite. Right from the opening with the sweet, fresh red apple and cardamom to the dry down where the tobacco and lavender come through. For me, it's an all year round scent that could be worn for basically any occasion. I can see why people like this scent so much and it’s one that where the scent cloud smells better than directly off skin. I keep on getting whiffs during the day, it’s just incredible and only gets better.

This has been my signature scent for 3 months now, and I couldn't have chosen a better one. Like genuinely, it's amazing.
This is such a perfect and versatile scent. I've had people say I smell very manly. My girlfriend loves it and my friends also like it a lot.
It's very unique, sexy, has very good projection and longevity... What else could you ask for?
If you were planning on getting it, do it. :)

Very nice scent to me it kinda opens up with a hollister SoCal vibe like the stuff they use to spray there clothes with in the store but mixed with the original Born in Roma DNA. Smells creamy almost kinda tropical. Idk why but this has that SoCal In here.

I have wanted this as a gift for a while and Coral fantasy did not disappoint. As a student I can give you a multitude of reasons why you should wear this. Of course girls like the scent as not every fella walks around with a Valentino line of fragrance on. Secondly the compliments my friends give me are the cherry on top to my ego boost. Thanks to this fragrance they think I am some sort of scent guru. Coral fantasy will go down in my memory as the best cologne I have worn for millennium. All this being said for sure this is a darker less is more scent 3-4 sprays will last you all day may even be a little to dark for school but I like how mature it makes someone smell I can even see some badass girls wearing this. 10/10 worth every penny.

beautiful fragrance that is sweet and aromatic. I like this release a lot but would put it as number two in the Born in Roma line after BIR intense. This is very classy. I just wish it projected more and last longer.

Apple of the top is juicy and not synthetic, so realistic you can tell it’s a red apple just by smelling it, tobacco comes in paired with it shorty after. Doesn’t smell dense or heavy the aromatic fresh notes make it airy.

I slept on this for a few months after smelling it on paper, then went to a store & smelled it on skin for the first time which caused me to think about how this flew under my radar for so long. Now it's in my collection as one of my favorite fragrances that does not sacrifice uniqueness for versatility. I love how the tobacco carefully blends with the apple and cardamom in a smooth and alluring way. It's not headache-inducingly sweet which is a plus.

I think this fragrance is perfect throughout spring and fall as well as summer nights, but can work in most scenarios depending on the number of sprays. I feel as though it can work in the winter too, but there are likely better options depending on what you're going for (this holds its own as a solid winter frag nonetheless). In the peak of summer, I think it's a good choice if you aren't going crazy with the sprays, or wait until evening to rock this (there are fragrances that handle the heat better but that doesn't mean this is unacceptable). This has the potential to be too intense for people very close to you in the office but I think you could get away with it if applied mindfully / conservatively. This fragrance could certainly be dressed up or down, as it's pretty versatile for a fragrance on the sweeter side.

You only need 2 for a subtle uplifting aroma, 3-6 sprays for a nice bubble, and 7+ if you're trying to be noticed from decent range for the first half of its lifespan. Speaking of which, performance lasts me about 8h with the last 3ish hours being still noticeable but becomes more intimate as it naturally transitions into a skin scent. In other words it lasts longer, projects slightly better, and is also sexier than the original 2019 Born in Roma. Coral fantasy is minimum 8.5+/10 for me overall.

It was love at first sniff. The apple-tobacco blend is executed flawlessly. It's slightly sweet but not overwhelmingly so, and it's perfectly balanced... I'm smitten.

if i had to pick from this one and born in roma intense , it would be this one cuz of the apple note its more fresher , they are similar but this one its kinda better smelling to me

Quick review: opening is sweet and fresh, reminds me of Invictus.
Drydown is better, the fruits share the spotlight with the woods. Smells great!
Longevity is pretty good, around 6-7 hours. It sits pretty close to the skin though.
Price is ok if you can buy one under 100.
All in all, Coral Fantasy is a pretty good frag, when coworkers are close enough to catch whiffs of it, I’ll get compliments. This is also a pretty safe blind buy. I can’t see anybody really hating this.

This is great from the first sniff for me. Opening is great, with fruity sweet citrus and the cardamom gives even the opening some depth. As it dries down you get the herbaceous florals while the red apple and tobacco take over in a great and unexpectedly alluring combination. The tobacco isn’t overdone and blends really well with the other notes and there is nothing offensive here. I can see how a lot of people say this would be great for the fall and the winter, because you do get a spiced apple feel out of it, but I think that this is also a great one for the spring as well. In the heat of the summer, it could become cloying and might be too much (especially if overdone), but I could see how you could make it work with the citrus notes, especially in the evenings or going out.

The price is reasonable for a newer fragrance, as you can currently find the 100ml for around $80, which I think is a great deal for the quality and uniqueness of this fragrance. You could easily make this a signature, as it is very pleasing to most people but also unique enough that you won’t smell like everyone else, and the good price means it won’t run you out of house and home for using it a lot. I definitely think it is blind buy safe if you want to do that, and I think it would be a good one to pick up if you want a good 2-3 season frag that is different than a lot of the typical stuff you find out there, but still a great crowd-pleaser/compliment-getter. As far as performance, I’m getting about 8-9 hours and potentially more on clothes, so pretty good. 8.4/10

Really love this perfume, cant stop smelling it. Lasts a good 8 hours on my skin even though its an edt. But I feel like the projection is kind of weak for me since my friends seem to notice it only when I get pretty close to them when im using 5 sprays

It was a love at first try. The apple tobacco combination is so well done. Little bit sweet but not too much, well rounded.... I'm in love

Great opening and on my skin it has great silliage and last for at least 8 hours I love the opening but the dry down is great too, obviously a great bottle

Better version of the original, more fruitiness( while also staying masculine), and much better contrast and better notes than the original. Dries down to be fruity Tobaco with some lighter green notes, not synthetic at all, wont give you a headache great performance and projection 9.5/10 one of my favorites.

Best of the born in roma line in my opinion. Very fruity and fresh in the beginning. Then dries down into a nice smoky fruity scent while still being fresh. To me it smells like a warm apple pie, while still being very masculine. Can wear this for pretty much any occasion and I’d say any time of year. Very versatile. Great compliment getter, the girls seem to love this one. Good longevity and fairly good projection with this one for it being an eau de toilette. I get about 8 hours longevity on my skin and it projects about 4 feet away. Generally I’ll go 5-7 sprays. Price point is decent. 8.5/10 overall

jbfragrances22

This stuff is impressive. Bright juicy Red apple right off the top, that mingles with lavender, clary sage, and the fresh aromatics of the mid. Then It all comes together with the tobacco and earthy notes of the base. The red apple and the tobacco are the superstars here. It’s sweet, with aromatics to balance it out. Leans masculine, but I think a woman could pull it off easily as well. Only gripe is I wish it lasted longer, about 6 hrs on me, maybe a little longer. I guess that’s pretty good for an EDT.

All season, 2 sprays in the summer. Great release by Valentino, I might even like it more than Uomo Intense. For as versatile as I think it is, for some reason it reminds of Christmas wreaths

A sweet red apple opening with a hint of Cardamom to give it its spiciness. Once it dries down from there I pick up on more of the lavender and geranium along with some of the red apple making it more floral and fruity. In the base notes I get an aromatic tobacco that is balanced beautifully with the rest of the floral and fruity notes. Projection: 8/10, Longevity: 7.5/10 Scent: 9.5/10. Smells like a vacation in Hawaii, overall great fragrance.

It's great. The few times I've worn this I've received like 4-5 compliments from different male and female strangers respectively. Now I know what some of you might be thinking, "So what? How does that make it a good fragrance?". Truth is, I'm one of those fragheads that doesn't seek compliments – I'll wear something if I want to because I want to, or if the situation or event I'm in warrants it. But let's be real here, receiving an unsolicited compliment is pretty cool too.

Sprayed this at 8pm in the evening, went to sleep and woke up and could still smell this until 5 PM the next day and 1 spray of this fragrance can fill a whole room. Do not recomend this for a Classroom cause you’ll drown them in your fragrance. The smell is also very good. Do not overspray this.

Definitely the best from Born In Roma line. This opens with a very sweet, fresh and powerful red apple, amazing, but also feminine. In my opinion, the best part comes after the top notes, entering the lavender and starting to appear the tobacco note. This makes that feminine part disappear and turns in a very masculine and intense scent, but also a bit sweet and soft due to lavender note.

This is amazing for spring, fall and winter. I would use it only in summer nights, because the sweetness of the strong red apple and the intensity of the tobacco makes it a bit cloying for hot summer days, so it is very versatile.

In terms of longevity, it lasts for 7/8 hours, with a good sillage in the first 2/3 ones. After the 4 hours you will notice the scent sometimes with soft wiffs, but knowing it's still there.

To sum up:
Scent: 10/10
Longevity: 8.5/10
Projection: 8/10
- Overall: 8.83/10

Totally recommend, I would try it first but it's a safe blind buy.

I blind brought this because of YouTube reviews and I had a very interesting positive experience with this one.

I was heading to the Sunrise service on Easter morning so around 4:30AM I got ready and sprayed this on my neck and shirt and blazer. I probably did around 8 sprays. (4 on skin, 4 on clothes). I returned home and took off the blazer and hung it on my home office chair at around 12PM and went about the rest of my day. The next day around 9AM I enter the office room with the chair and I’m blown away because the whole room had become filled with the smell of Coral Fantasy and it wasn’t even a faint smell it was like proper strong fragrance lingering in the air inside the room. Keep in mind I originally sprayed in a completely different room the day before and I only left my blazer in this one. Then I picked up and smelled the blazer it was like I had sprayed on it just moments ago. Incredible longevity on fabric.

On skin it lasted a good 7-8 hours. It could have possibly lasted longer but I don’t remember because I was too busy and just went to bed later. It projected really well for the first couple of hours. After that I was getting whiffs of it throughout the day.

The scent profile is very beautiful as you would come to expect from Valentino’s ‘Born in Roma’ line. Overall it’s a pleasant, sophisticated, masculine and very attractive scent for a man. I’m guessing this will probably last longer in winter based on my aforementioned experience because it’s summer where I live and it’s generally a very hot and humid place to live in.

this ones so good but the longevity is trash on my skin i get like 1 or 2 hours before the smell just dissapears and I say it is preety feminine but other than that its great.

Let me start off by saying all of these are my opinions so dont get mad at me. This fragrance is amazing it can be used in every season but not that much in the summer time. it has a strong longevity, ( 7-8 hours) and a strong sillage. The price for this fragnance is amazing. This is the best fragance out of the born in roma line. Id give this fragrance 10/10. Note: i also blind bought this fragnance.

My favorite Born in Roma. Hell, my favorite Valentino.
I bought this as my first bottle of non-cheap perfume. Prior to that, I was in love with it and still am. I will never get tired of it, and it will stay on my shelf over and over.
Very versatile, perfect signature fragrance; friends love it. Can't get enough.

I see how people say this is female, but the strong tobacco makes it smell more like something a guy with a Hawaiian shirt would wear. I don't know the performance of it, but it smells really nice. Definitely picking this up soon. I also dont think this fits the fall "vibe". It can be pulled off in the summer 100%, indoors, at parties, nights, or just cooler windier days. I would definitely recommend this.

Smells familiar like a little trees air freshener I've used in the best way possible.

Apple and tobacco compliment eachother perfectly for a fragrance that is good for below 80 degree weather, anything warmer and it may become too cloying. Would suit a cool summer night better

I can see someone using this as thier staple frag

This is without a doubt the best fragrance in the “Born In Roma” lineup. When you spray it on it’s super fresh. The bergamot, geranium and clary sage are immediately present. After a few minutes the apple and cardamom make their presence known in this beautiful sweet and fresh spicy way. As it dries down, the bergamot disappears and the apple fades, though it can still be picked up. You’re then left with this alluring sweet, spicy, slightly creamy tobacco, lavender, cardamom scent, with hints of apple, patchouli and vetiver. I don’t know if I’m the only one picking up slight hints of vanilla in the dry down, though it’s not mentioned I definitely feel a tonka or vanilla type of smell in the dry down. The dry down is actually surprisingly similar to Parfums De Marly Layton, but not to the point where it’s redundant to own both.

This is leaning a little youthful, I’d say this scent mainly targets 20-35 year olds, but of course if you’ve tried it and like it, you should buy it.

Valentino Uomo Born In Roma Coral Fantasy is also an extremely versatile fragrance. You can easily wear this during fall, winter and spring. If you’re comfortable with it, you may even be able to stretch it through summer.

Overall Valentino Uomo Born In Roma Coral Fantasy is a great youthful leaning, versatile, fresh, spicy and sweet fragrance.

I spritzed a tiny amount on my sleeves and it lasted 6x longer than all the other ones I tested that day. It was easy for me to become a quick Valentino fan, seems that they do everything right that I like. Bottle Designs, Vibrant Coloured Juice, Catchy Titles.. say it to yourself ""CORAL FANTASY"" and you will be repeating that all day long. At first I thought it was another Invictus, the scent et cetera clone...but boy was I wrong, This is yet another Valentino creation that I like a lot, although I enjoy the women's Coral Fantasy too. Well Done, Valentino.

Excellent & pleasing scent profile of apple x tobacco crossover, with refreshing spices alongside. However longevity is only around 4 hrs on skin.

If an EDP or even parfum flanker is out some day, I'd buy without hesitation (better sillage & longevity expected)

I'd rank the b.i.r line as: coral fantasy> yellow dream> intense

First time I smelt it, it was a bit weird and I kinda didn’t like it but I just decided to buy it impulsively. I’d say it definitely grew on me and by my 5-6th wear I would catch myself smelling myself. Smells like sweet apples and tobacco. Performance, moderate on skin and long lasting on clothes. Highly recommended for everyday wear.

I don’t understand why people say it has short longevity. Everything about this fragrance is amazing, the smell, projection, the longevity, everything. Yesterday, I put it on at around 5:45pm, I got home very late and still smelt it, when I woke up at 10am, I could clearly smell it on my shirt. This cologne also projects very well, Ive gotten complemented using it before by people im not that close with. I definitely recommend it and its one of my if not my favorite fragrance I have. 10/10

Graduation

Very strong red apple, I would NOT recommend this for summer or late spring. I love this scent and it's probably my favorite next to le beau. Projection kind of sucks, people only smell it when up close. Longevity is decent i've gotten about 5-7 hours on my skin and a little more on clothing. The only huge setback is the projection and it isn't loud at all. This fragrance is top 10 date night fragrances and it's worth your money if you know you're going somewhere where you'll have close contact with someone.4-6 sprays is usually what it takes for me

Masculine apples. To me it’s familiar and unique at the same time. Starts off sweet but as it dries down, that vetiver patchouli base takes over with the red apple still lingering in the background. Try it on skin, tester strip doesn’t do it justice. Compliment puller also. Lasted 6-7 hours on my skin with great sillage. Got complimented afew times from 4 or 5 feet away using 5 sprays. It’s versatile and all year round signature scent worthy. It does it all. 9/10 ⭐️

Fruity and kinda herby. This almost smells like a spicy watermelon in the opening, very nice. Although I love it, if it wasn't part of the free bottle with the sample purchase from Sephora, I probably wouldn't own it, but I am very glad I have it in my collection. Should be easy to sample out there.

I so regret purchasing this just because it’s the most difficult flanker to find in our local market. There were only 2 left in the store for $100 and I grabbed one of them. I somehow smelled it before and liked it more than the intense but then I don’t know what happened.

I really like this fragrance it smells great and last decent amount of time, in my eyes three sprays will be plenty for people to smell you but not overwhelm. Only issue is this smells insanely similar to Lataffa Fakhar Black which is $20 and supposed to be a clone of YSL Y EDP. I have never smelled YSL but Coral Fantasy is incredibly similar to Fakhar Black. I would recommend just getting Fakhar instead.

I think Valentino Uomo Born In Roma Coral Fantasy is a captivating fragrance. Its blend of fruity and amber notes creates a unique and alluring aroma that is perfect for various occasions. The inspiration drawn from the sunset in Rome gives it a romantic and vibrant feel. While some users may find the longevity and sillage moderate, I personally enjoy the colorful apple accord and smoky tobacco notes. It adds a touch of elegance and charm to my presence.

dry down lavender and some depth from patchouli good scent bad performance **

I love it. Nicely sweet, lavender, red apple and little bit of tobacco make it a smooth fragrance. I wouldn't wear it in the summer, because of the sweetnes tho. Longevity and sillage decent. Many people say its the best out of the line and I think it could really be possible, altough I didn't test the other ones yet.

If only it had better longevity 😢
Then this had been my only perfume..

Love at first sniff. An aromatic fruitiness to it and it doesn't disappear on dry down which I love. Very mass appeal and blind-buy worthy. I'm new to collecting and I like to associate my fragrances with moments and experiences in life that happened and/or will happen and this one takes me to many places in my mind.

Going to be pulling this one out frequently :)

Love this fragrance, I'd honestly say its safe to wear year round, the scent is very attractive and I can't even lie I didn't know I needed a mix between fruit and tobacco till now 🙏

Can anyone tell me if this can work as a summer fragrance? I just bought it after smelling the opening which did smell like a summer fragrance for me, but the dry down smells a lot more like a winter frag for me.

Sweet fragrance that i would pair with Citizen Jack Absolute by Michael Malul. Very apple cinnamon tobacco like fragrance. good for an evening, but also a calm daytime outting. Personally would say its an all year round fragrance

This is a day to night, light to dark sexy perfume!
I get the bergamot in the opening, it’s bright and sparkling but then it deepens and you get the spice from the geranium and cardamom, sweetness from the apple and the sage gives it that aromatic touch that is smooth so it’s not too spicy nor sticky sweet. It’s exactly like the bottle light then gets deep and dark. It does smell like men’s perfume but I really think women could wear it. Definitely worth a full bottle great for dates or if you want to attract a date. Nothing seriously complex about it but it’s intoxicating and will garner compliments: 8/10.
Summer nights but every other season day and night.

Update:
I’m getting some vanilla and vetiver in the dry down that is so delicious 🤤 the sage and geranium still lingers..
This gets better and better!

Solid scent but I feel like I’ve smelled this scent profile a million times. Longevity is meh. I get about 4 hours after the 1st hour it starts to become a skin scent on me. This is a good Date night fragrance 7/10

This is a really well done designer fragrance and probably the best in the Born in Roma line. The BiR line is known for its mass appeal and easy to like scent profiles, and this is no different. This is actually the most unique fragrance in the line with its aromatic fruity tobacco scent profile. The fruity tobacco mix works so well, and the designer fragrance realm isn't really overly saturated with fruity tobacco fragrances. Lately I've noticed how often the words "generic" and "not groundbreaking" get thrown around in reviews on here. So many great fragrances get shit on because people say they aren't groundbreaking, but I think that's overly harsh criticism because only a couple fragrances a year at most could even be possibly considered groundbreaking.

Performance is also really good on this, especially for an EDT. It lasts on me for over 12 hours and has super loud projection for the first 2 hours.

Lana.Dope.Rey

Despite its synthetic notes, I still have a fondness for this fragrance. In the first hour, it offers a delightful fruity scent with a touch of tobacco, citrus, and lavender. The perfume proves to be highly versatile, suitable for warmer weather and fitting as a signature scent for the office, a date, or casual hangouts. Its projection and sillage are commendably good, above average, leaving a lasting presence. Personally, I find Coral Fantasy to be superior to Born in Roma Intense. In the end, trust your own sense of smell to truly appreciate the nuances of this fragrance.

Test strip zaddy

I tested this fragrance pretty significantly and I LOVE it on the test strip. Initial notes are sweet fruity and sexy. But I was disappointed after spraying it on my skin and it absolutely does not work well with my own skin chemistry. After 30 mins all the fruity notes were gone and all I smelled was a playdoughy, powdery dry scent that wasn’t at all what I was expecting. It’s not linear and I would love it if it was linear

I absolutely love the Valentino Uomo BOR line, and I thought I liked Born in Roma Intense the most but this has to be one of the best smelling colognes I've ever tried or owned. A little bit of everything someone could like, from the citrus, lavender and slight floral touch to the tobacco leaf, patchouli and vetiver dry down making it sophisticated yet still incredibly mass appealing. I'd wear this on a date, in the office, for a daily, and really any time of the year. I think it has to be the favorite out of my entire collection at this very moment.

Might be the best in my collection

Learningtosmell

It's a nice scent but very smells 90% like a lot of other designer fragrances with similar core composition of something like legend spirit or wanted.

Id say this fragrance is inoffensive, pleasant and noone will dislike it. However there is nothing that memorable about it either.

It's good and safe to gift to someone but if spending money on yourself there are probably better scents for the same money.

share

hihero

Sweet and delicious from the very first spray. Cherry red apples come to mind. As the fragrance develops it fuses with the tobacco, saige and vetiver giving it this aeromatic sweet, fruity smooth woods like scent. It's something interesting and unique in its own right. It's a fun scent that can be incorporated into date night or just a day out. Maybe keep it out of the office but for anything casual day or night pull the trigger!

AuGusto87

Best of the Born in Roma line imo. Quite underrated. I tested BIR BIRI and BIRCF. Coral Fantasy is noticeably superior. BIR Intense is hyped everywhere but honestly I would rank it 3rd cuz of performance on my skin.

For me Coral Fantasy smells like the OG BIR but without the saltiness and an amped up sweetness that I very much enjoy on the dry down. Smells very fruity, kinda like a very nice smelling shampoo or shower gel. I keep smelling my arm every time I put it on.

Performance is nothing mind blowing but def above average for me.

For BIR Intense, it comes quite faded to my nose, with no well defined character, unlike the other 3 BIRs. Scent is nice but it kinda has a blurry character.

BIR would my my 2nd favorite or 3rd since I also like Yellow Dream. Has better performance than Coral Fantasy, but the saltiness annoys me a bit.

Great sweet and sexy fragrence. Last long and projects pretty good. Probably better for the evening and when it’s cooler out. I would think the heat would make it to cloying but I haven’t worn in heat so I’m just assuming, I am going to try it in the summer though because I just love this fragrance. It reminds me of John varvatos xx. More so on the dry down. But defiantly more intense. But if you’ve tried JV xx and didn’t like it you wouldn’t like this so save your money.

My girlfriend loves the original Born in Roma on me, so I went into Sephora to get her the Donna version for Christmas. While I was there, I had Valentino on the mind. I checked this one out, and let me tell you: if you like the original Born in Roma, you will love this one.

Initially, like everyone says, it's very sweet. Almost cake-like, but not to the point of it being nauseating or gourmand. Just very sugary. The lavender and tobacco start to come through after about 30 minutes or so, and the dry down becomes sweet and irresistible.

It's not as woody, salty, masculine, or refreshing as the original Born in Roma, but if you're looking for something sweeter than that one, this is a great fit for you.

Performance could use some work. Definitely not as long lasting as the original.

Whateverwhocares

Has the makings of a dank fruit compost. Mild makeup vibes as it dries which is typical. Great idea but not the best execution. Smells good enough. Strong meld of fruit, spice, lavender and patchouli. It's one of those just good, almost great scents. Overall, just makes grade. A decent scent.

i like this fragrance, but when i spray it on my clothes it gets too sweet and smells too flowery and When i spray it on my skin it becomes a smooth darker smell, that is perfect and quite likeable i could say but the clothes part is not for me.

This fragrance is alright, nothing entirely spectacular or awe-striking. From first whiff, it isn’t much different than what I would consider AXE haha. Regardless, it’s not bad! I’m a fan of the apple note here especially. ( also, this bottle feels so good to hold. It’s very pretty)

Smells like floral attars that you get in neighbourhood perfume stores in India. Not for me though I’m sure many would like this.

I just wanted to weigh in on this one. Hopefully it will save you some money, and give you some things to think about. First I want to say. This is a decent fragrance. Key word being, decent. Now possibly my thoughts will change on this fragrance in the future (I will explain what I mean later in this review). What's wild to me is in the list of fragrances this is like. I don't see listed what should be obvious to all that have smelled this fragrance. However, it was pointed out extremely well by one Youtube Reviewer. I forget the guy's name off of the top of my head. However, he's the guy that does a lot of middle eastern frag reviews. He has super curly hair in the front, and often times wears a baseball cap. If you run across his review for Coral Fantasy. It's spot on, as I just tested it today. This thing dries down to almost an identical, Mont Blanc Legend EDT not the EDP. Now the reviewer didn't say Mont Blanc per say. He said Fierce or like a Hollister fragrance. However, what I think he meant to say was Mont Blanc Legend. As Fierce is a bit more on the brighter side then Legend is. However, he was basically saying, Abercrombie-ish or Hollister-ish, and he would be 100% correct with that assessment. Now the opening is a bit different though. At least to some degree. It's a fresh yet sweet apple with that Legend smell in the background. All in the opening! Then a couple of hours later (if that). All you get is Legend, with a tad hint of that sweet apple (the apple is barely noticeable at that point) . Now to be fair. I just spayed it on my hand. However, I did spray my hand 3 nice healthy sprays though! I say that because it might wear on clothes a bit differently. We all know how things go with that. But here's an important thing to consider. I believe the folks at Valentino have come up with a great marketing plan with this line. Now though we know this spiked bottle design has been around for a bit, from UOMO and it's flankers, and these bottles when you think about it are collectable. However, the average person likely wasn't buying them, because they didn't know they existed. Most of the people buying the originals were those that were in the know, and fans of Dior Intense. So Valentino changed the color scheme with the eye popping pink! And with a release like Coral Fantasy, they made sure it was super fresh and clean smelling! Which is what normally sells well to the masses. However, it's fresh smell with the eye catching bottles, is what also makes the enthusiast compelled to collect all of these nice bottles they can! Even if it smells like something they already own! Designers like this are smart to put some effort into their bottles. Because these are the type of bottles that a collector will keep and hang on to. So on one hand you have the newbie that will find this appealing because of the eye catching bottle. Along with how easily it is to like the fragrance inside of the bottle. Then the collector might just blind buy it, because they want to collect the bottle itself. However, if you are in between. Meaning you have a decent amount of fragrances, and you are doing your best to not buy everything you see, haha! You might test this at your local fragrance counter first, and then likely pass on purchasing it. Simply because it smells like something you likely have for most of the life of this fragrance. As that opening doesn't hang around very long at all. Again, it's basically Legend with a twinge of apple (the longer the fragrance sits, the less apple you get). Now here's where I might change my mind. I will go to test this fragrance again. This time on clothes. However, I think I will still pass for now, even after testing again. As I don't believe it's worth the price tag. That is unless I see this show up in the wild at TJMAXX for $69.95. or in that range. Which would be the price I would expect them to sticker it at. Now with more testing's will it change a bit more then a Legend smelling fragrance with a tad bit of apple in the air? Maybe, maybe. I just find this a fragrance is something I don't need to run out and get, simply because it has a cool bottle! And when you think about it. The way this bottle looks can really push someone into buying this fragrance! Even when it's truly not needed for most. With that said. It's still a decent to good fragrance. Now, who is this fragrance for? A mother or girlfriend or wife that is wanting to buy a nice birthday or Christmas gift for their son or boyfriend or husband. Likely they don't know much on how to purchase fragrances, and they normally just go the mall and buy what's new and what's recommended by the sales associate. If I got this for a gift I would be very happy! However, I just wouldn't run out and buy it with my own money unless it was at TJMAXX at a big discount! This is for the man that doesn't have many fragrances, and his current bottle of whatever he has is almost empty, and someone that loves him in his life wants to give him this as a very nice gift!

Huge Valentino fan so I thought I would get this since the grade is really high. I’ve smelled some of the others in the Born in Roma collection. Valentino definitely went in a different direction with this line. It’s definitely more unisex. Well, this one is along those lines. I’m not saying that it’s bad. I still like it, it’s just not very masculine.

Maybe after some more wearings it will grow on me a little more. Yellow dream was in the “smells like” section so I figured it would smell similar… but It doesn’t.

But if you like fruity scents with a touch of tobacco you will probably like this.

One of the top three most hyped Valentino scents behind Uomo Intense and Born In Roma Intense. I tried this off a tester strip at Macy's and thought it smelled great, so I committed to buying a full bottle to get the whole experience. Here's how it went;

Scent:
Opening is fruity, sweet, and spicy. The main notes I get are apple and cardamom with tobacco and lavender underneath. The strongest of the notes is the apple, giving it a sweet and fruity scent, followed by the cardamom giving it a warm, cozy, spiciness. The dry down is still sweet, spicy, and fruity, but in a different way. The main notes I get are tobacco and cardamom with apple and patchouli underneath. The strongest of the notes are the tobacco and cardamom, giving it a sweet and spicy warmth, followed by the apple and patchouli for a dark and fruity sweetness.

Performance:
Initial projection is strong and noticeable at around 6 feet. Sillage is strong as well and leaves an easily noticeable scent trail. After a few hours the projection was around arms length and there was still an easily noticeable scent trail. At around the 8 hour mark the projection was gone and the scent trail was barely noticeable.

When to wear:
This is an all-season fragrance suitable for day or night time wear. I wouldn't recommend it for office wear, but it would be an excellent pick for a date night.

Blind buy:
If you like tobacco scents that are balanced with sweetness, this is a safe blind buy for you.

Final verdict:
This is a solid fragrance to have in any collection. It's versatile, it has respectable performance, and it smells great. I don't really pick up on the comparisons to some of the Spicebombs that people get, but I can somewhat pick up on the comparison to PDM's Layton. I can't say this is my favorite Valentino scent, but it's in the top 3. If you want a fruity tobacco scent for your collection, this is a great place to start.

Scent: 8/10
Longevity: 7/10
Sillage: 7/10

VERY GOOD. Reminds me of drinking hot mulled apple cider at a Christmas market and opening a fresh box of cigars. Unique combo; a bit complex but also familiar and welcoming.

I like it a lot as an an everyday or date night scent. Not a beast mode fragrance for clubbing IMO, but you can use it that way if you want to.

It's very different on paper strips vs skin. This is not overly sweet to my nose after a few minutes. The Tobacco note is very prominent. Had a friend compliment sitting next to me 4 hours after applying. Dry down is the best part and lasts as a skin scent for 6+ hours.

This is a great crowd pleasing scent. It may be redundant if you have Most Wanted/Stronger With You, but it's worth trying for the Apple Tobacco combo. Signature scent worthy 9/10.

P.S Much better than the intense version, which gets too vanilish for me in the dry down

Very nice clubbing fragrance. You won't see it on best of lists alongside stuff like Eros, Le Male etc. but for me it's perfect for that application. The apple is the most dominant note, but the tobacco and cardamom give it a darker evening vibe instead of a fresh sunny fruity one. Slightly feminine-leaning too. Yeah maybe I'm unique in this interpretation but it smells like a club to me.

I have a sample of this and I think it's a very enjoyable fragrance, especially in the opening. The opening it's super fresh, it smells a bit like a good aftershave, but it also has some spice to it. It's like a great mixture between the fresh à la Dior Sauvage and the spice of something like Dolce and Gabbana The one. I hope it makes sense. After it dries down it smells like amber and tobacco to me, I hoped it evolved in a different direction. It reminds me of most tobacco scents, so it becomes a bit generic. Still it's a nice fragrance, a bit different from the rest.

I love it. I got a compliment just the first day I wore it. It's very sweet, and the opening is a bit cloying, but after 30 minutes, you'll get a very strong and sweet apple on a complex tobacco base. Not your regular masculine scent, but perfect for the confident and extravagant man vibe. The projection is good, not great, but the longevity is very good, I've got around 10+ hours still being able to smell it on myself easily, and it stays in clothes for weeks. It's way better if you smell it in the air or on someone rather than very up close (within less than 2 inches). One of my favourites, and all around this Valentino line has great profiles and distinctive styles, even if some don't have the best performance.

Personally, I think is a great fragrance, people that says this is one million (?), I dont understand some reviews I have seen here, somehow its different, within all mainstream fragrances. I had smell this on other people and Its good, and I have received many compliments (when I wear other fragrances that the comunity loves, nobody tells me anything). It is what It is, but if you say this is terrible, maybe you didnt try It properly, or whatever. Sometimes I think some people wants to have the most unique taste and opinion... Maybe its just some kind of snobbism.

I just got a 15ml bottle recently and the opening smells weird to me I can't really describe it. I'd say its not bad the dry down is a sweet and woody tobacco. The projection and longevity is disappointing in my opinion its below average. It just smells weird and the performance is mid imo. Personally I wouldn't buy this, sample it first before you buy it, if you like it go ahead and get it. Not my taste. 6/10

Another confusing gourmand bomb, which is very nice for the first 20 seconds citrus opening.
Then it becomes more of the same:
Warm, sweet and clinging on the repetitive notes everybody else is using to satisfy the very same audience, which is constantly begging for something STRONGER, SWEETER AND LONGER-LASTING.
Nothing new under the sun
Nothing to write home about...
As we hear in contemporary music, the zeitgeist for the perfume industry is just the repetition of sickly sweet itself. Ouch!
...NEXT!

I really don’t get any of the fruity notes on my skin from this whatsoever, not even in the opening. This stuff just smells like tobacco/patchouli for me… I get the spice, nothing else. I guess I can see how people might like it, but it’s definitely not for me. Longevity was okay (4-5 hours) but projection was pretty abysmal. Pretty much a skin scent for the majority of the time I had it on.

Red candied apple, fruity, tobacco infused fragrance bomb.

Superior projection and longevity. Strong sillage and performance.

Sample before going for a full bottle.

Go to your retailer. Spray yourself 4-6 times. Admire the opening. Let the fragrance dry down on your skin. Spend a day with the scent.

Then you will know if it was right for you as it was for me.

This has that fruity sweet quality you can find in most paco rabanne fragrances. Completely overdone and honestly just disappointing. Been getting into Valentino Uomo fragrances lately and found a good deal on this, out of curiosity I picked it this up and the original. This honestly smells like 1 Million Lucky, but with added tobacco. One of the most wearable tobaccos for a younger guy that I would recommend. Sweet, spicy and delightful on skin. Lasts a good 8 hours and great for a night out. Worth it at discount but irrelevant if you already have Paco Rabanne 1 Million fragrances.

I love this more and more...I liked it upon skin test and on paper strip I took home it lasted for days and days so I decided to purchase it and after a few more wearings I like it even more...the red apply bursts off the top and is what lured me innitially,it does seem to hide away during the mid but, thankfully it returns upon the drydown, just perched on the tobacco leaf.
This fragrance is a lot more unique to me than people give it credit for... (I own quite a few so I wouldn't of bought it otherwise) the mere fact that 4 or 5 of the apparent 'smells like' nominees dont smell remotely alike in themselves... should tell you two things;
1. This doesn't really,smell like anything else
2. Everybodys enterpretation of this fragrance is completely different.

Is it unique enough to deserve a place on a shelf? Yes.
Is its performance relative to its cost? Yes.
Is it worth you forgetting what your favourite fragrance youtuber said about it the next time you go past it...and spraying it at least one more time to see if you might actually disagree with them every now and then? Yes!

Smellybutgood

I won't waste anyone's time here with a long and analytical review of something that most of you won't even want to try, so here's the scoop: Smells good.....very similar to the likes of Armani Stronger with you and it's peer fragrances.

Here's my rant:

Valentino Uomo (2014) was subverted by the Valentino Uomo Born in Roma (2018) range to be more-commercial, and has since spawned its own flankers-of-flankers while the original Olivier Polge-penned scent languishes; this is another such release that does nothing even remotely worth seeking out unless you are an influencer that makes your money hyping releases like this, and have to spend money to get your bottle because big designers usually don't put YouTubers on PR lists like niche brands. Here's your "latest banger" for all of maybe 4 months, then forgotten and discontinued by L'Oréal like every YSL fragrance these days.

Not only does this scent have absolutely nothing to do with its coral theme, but just about nothing to do with anything other than being an exercise in insanity, doing the same thing over again and expecting different results.

I sure hope Jean-Christophe and Nicholas got paid well for this, and had a good drink after making it, because I'd need one if I were them. This is sheer consumer-capitalist dystopian Hell in a bottle, and the absolute embodiment of olfactive purgatory for anyone with a vested interest in men's perfume.

easily one of my favourite fragrances, fresh, fruity, candy apple with some tobacco. i can’t think of a single occasion this fragrance wouldn’t work in, it’s fresh and fruity enough to rock in the summer, but the sweet, woody, and tobbaco make it perfect for any cold occasion aswell. on top of that it’s extremely unique and not very talked about online, making it a great signature scent.

Really enjoy this. Very youthful in nature and sharp out of the gate with the apple. Though the tobacco and aromatics set in to give some great balance and backbone. Sillage and performance are both solid. This is a really good 'going out' style fragrance.

All season versatility in my opinion, as well as relatively unisex.

This is a great overall scent.

Designer, the bottle is quite nice and is unique without being excessive (CH Bad Boy is what I consider a little too much), the name is cool although admittedly there isn't anything really "coral" about it.

Apple note is really nice, the opening is very solid. The middle is the best though, when the opening mixes with that tobacco dry down, it's amazing.

Value is ok, it did hurt a little bit to see the money go, but I definitely felt like I was getting good value for what I paid.

I will say, this seems to be either generally inoffensive with the ladies or an absolute hit. One or the other, very little in between. Personally, I wear it because I like it, but the complementary aspect of it doesn't hurt - the person who recommended it to me said this: "I wish my boyfriend would buy this, this is how I want my man to smell in bed".

My only critiques? Not super unique, but remember that uniqueness is relative. Most guys don't wear cologne, and most of the population don't even know this exists (excluding the fragrance community).

Also wish it was a little longer lasting and had a bit more projection, but really I can't complain. This is definetly intended to be a very versatile scent that is invited, not announced.

8.5/10, love it.

edit: Ok I just had to edit this, IF YOU USE VASELINE ON YOUR HOT POINTS IT PROJECTS SO MUCH MORE. 5 sprays, behind the ears, one on the wrist and then pressed (not rubbed) together, two on the front of the shirt. Also, it lasts far longer on clothes, particularly cotton. I sprayed on a normal shirt, and on a 100% cotton shirt, its been 16+ hours since I sprayed its still.strong. enough. to. notice. if you're right there.

definitely a 9 with the vaseline, 9/10

It took me a while to fully appreciate this frag, but it really is fairly unique for a designer frag. It smells fresh, smells clean, smells like candy apples and tobacco. Sillage is fairly strong, it’s maybe a bit more moderate in terms of how long it lasts, I don’t think it really projects all that well, could be wrong though. Hard to tell. Anyways, just apply more throughout the day if need be. It’s a nice scent and you really can wear it year round night or day. Personally I’d say it would really shine during fall. Just due to the candy apple note. If you don’t want to commit to a full bottle, just check your local frag dealer and see if they have any samples, if they don’t you can always order from eBay. I have about 10mls left of my 50-60ml bottle, and I will definitely be purchasing a 100 ml when I can afford it. You never know when things are going to be discontinued, and if genuinely miss this if it did.

Pretty strong stuff on the initial blast, a beautiful opening. I wished that fruity sweetness from the opening stayed a bit longer. Primarily because the sage/tobacco green earthiness gets too prominent overtime as the sweetness fades into the background. Its still good, but would be even greater if that sweetness stayed a bit longer to balance things out.

Edit: after giving it a lot of time, I noticed spraying it on the back of your neck prevents you from going noseblind as fast. Thus, the sweetness stays longer and the sage is more subdued. Very pleasant overall.

For an EDT amazing performance about 6 to 8 hours but for projection, 3-4 hours solid ( 3 sprays). Don't believe people that whine that it only last 20 min, its either nose blind or poor skin chem. For price, if you can get it under $100 worth it !

This one is simply fantastic, so elegant and sexy (I'm a sucker for cardamom in fragrances). The tobacco, apple and cardamom take a sweet turn, making this perfect for date night (although I think you can wear it all year round as long as you don't use it on scorching hot days). The performance is fantastic for an EDT, lasts on me for 6/7hrs with constant whiffs throughout. Don't really know about the projection since I haven't been complemented by people in arm's length, just by people I hugged and said hi to.
10/10 scent.

Has this been reformulated? Find myself very alarmed since I smelt it recently and it's intensity seems to have decreased.

I purchased Valentino Coral fantasy about a week ago and I love it, its an amazing fragrance for the price. It has a sweet fruity opening from the apple and the cardamom adds a seductive element to the fragrance.
Although tobacco leaf is listed as a base note I can smell it in the air straight away and all throughout which I love. I find it somewhat cloying for a really hot day but any time other than that it works perfectly.
Some reviews criticise the longevity and projection, I get about 8 hours (I use around 8 sprays) and the projection is like an arms length away.

Flameseeker

I prefer more mature scents but as far as sweet scents go this is amazing. I have a sample, will definitely be getting a full bottle. Compared to something like Afnan 9pm which is very sweet and fruity (too much for me) this is slightly less sweet and much more balanced with the tobacco. It's a banger.

Spiky bottle, fantastic scent.

Performance is decent for an EDT.

So I decided to blind buy this based off of the reviews about this being a sweet apple scent…
Luckily I’m not disappointed ( but I don’t recommend blind buying) .
Yes this fragrance is marketed towards men, but I think it could be worn by women also.

Review:
So on initial spray…. I get apple but it only last for 20 seconds, then I’m met with sage and spices…. then after a few minutes the apple reappears with the spices. I don’t pick up the tobacco note ever ( at least on my skin).
I only get apple, sage and cardamom the whole wear time…but luckily they work nicely together.
I will say on initial spray, the apple smacks you in the face somewhat awkwardly; so you have to let this develop for a few minutes, so the other notes can pull through.
This fragrance is nice, but it’s pretty safe ( especially for a man). It’s an easy reach and great for casual wear. However fellas and ladies; if you’re looking for a sexy tobacco try Tom ford Tobacco Vanille, or Red Tobacco by Mancera 💯💯💯
But this is nice for a everyday scent and for summer❤️
*Projection and staying power is good 7/10 👍

I really enjoy the opening which unfortunately is the best part. Sweet and slightly crisp apple with tobacco undertones. The dry down is generic to me with that clary sage. If you just want to smell good (nothing wrong with that) then pull the trigger. It really is a great option.

I tend to prefer more mature scents, but this one is really addicting. I think the tobacco note is what really does it for me - it really balances out the sweetness nicely. Would probably get a little cloying on a hot summer day (wearing it outside), but you can wear this pretty much any time, any season.

This smells great! Can't wait to wear this daily. I got this as a gift from my kids and its such a wonderful surprise. I never knew of this line before I smelled this. I have gotten many compliments from it. It last 8+ hours on me and projects well. Its great for any time of year or any situation.

this flanker and Yellow Dream are my top 2, amazing

A coworker of mine wears this most days and it smells great. I'm planning on getting a bottle for myself because I like it so much. It smells like warm sweet musky tabacco to my nose

@Maverlck No, this is not discontinued.

share

I love this fragrance especially the tobacco sweet base. I don’t usually like a tobacco note. This got me compliments on the first day. Is this discontinued though?

As a collector of 25+yrs and close to 100 fragrances , I rarely fall in love with fragrances like I did with this. I love it so much that I try not to wear it too often haha. This is absolutely beautiful and the best of the Roma line. Yellow Dream would probably be tied with this but YD doesn’t have the sillage/projection that this does. I do see the similarities to Stronger With You but the Armani his more vanilla dominant. I’d say you could wear Coral year round , YD is more of a warmer weather daytime frag while Armani is a colder weather frag.

share

RhettB27

I can’t pick a favorite between this and Yellow Dream for the Born in Romas. Damn. Both are awesome, but I’d say Yellow Dream for day and this for night.

share

Lhomme_Juanco

Smells good but honestly this is a smell I’ve smelled so many times and other houses have done better. This is not a similar fragrance to 1 million but invokes that feeling and honestly the 1 million line is just so good you’re better off going with that. Additionally, the SWY line also has this sort of style and is way better for the price imo.
Not a bad fragrance just a bit redundant
And if you insist on tobacco with fruits, just get Wanted By night, it has beast projection and longevity for 75% of the BIR coral fantasy

share

zefragrancec

Think of This as a Stronger With You + A cardamom Note and A Red Apple Instead of Pineapple note.

share

Sundog

Beautiful how this changes from a not so exciting opening to something I can't stop smelling in the dry down. Works on my clothes best. I wouldn't say I could pick out any notes specifically. Probably my inexperienced nose. a well blended fragrance and very pleasing. You know how sometimes a plain girl is the most beautiful? That's this fragrance for me

Quick take:

Normally I’m not a fan of apple notes in men’s fragrances. But this is such a playfully waxy apple. Puts a huge smile on my face. I’m gonna have to pick this up for summer.

waxy spiced apple
when you smell this compared to the other BIR scents, it will smell like a fall candle, the apple note is obvious, and crisp

smells good on my clothes
more complex on skin, but certain points of the drydown are not pleasant to me, strong bitter fuzzy powder, becomes more mature smelling to me

share

Remy_Hall

My favourite from the Valentino collection. Sweet enough but not overpowering. Very versatile, perfect for summer.

share

Lhomme_Juanco

Best BIR flanker. This fragrance is just amazing. It’s nice and juicy sweet with the little powderiness the tobacco offers and it’s got this sparkling feeling to it almost like cinnamon. Even though cinnamon isn’t even a note. Performance is a bit below average for todays standards but if you moisturize before applying you’ll get easy 8 hours on this.
Downside of this scent is that it’s not all that versatile and honestly speaking if I wanted a fruity tobacco I would go for Wanted By Night. Completely different vibes but still very similar.

share

jlog23

Legit smells like a yankee candle that you would light during Xmas. Waxy and synthetic. Pass for me.

share

Ceau de Parfum

Gorgeous, safe, apple-tobacco sweetness.

Distinct Valentino vibe that feels high class.

UPDATE 8/18/23 Had a co-worker ask me about this, he got himself a bottle.

share

Roman86

This reminds me of Valentino Uomo Born In Roma Intense that I tried a week prior just less heavy. It shares a similar sweetness but instead of vanilla this one has apple. These Valentino releases aren't too inspiring and they're all starting to smell similar to one another.

share

ChiliOfTheValley

If you are looking for a sweet masculine scent, this fragrance is a great option. The first time I sprayed this on my wrist I couldn't stop smelling it. Fantastic sweet red apple with a perfect balance of tobacco, lavender, and patchouli in the drydown.

I think this release is one of the best in the Born in Roma line. You could say this is a bit generic since it's similar to other popular men's fragrances in this genre, but this is one of the best fragrances out there for colder weather.

The only problem with it is that it can be a bit cloying in the first 30 minutes, then it only projects for about 1 to 2 hours before quickly becoming a skin scent that fades away after roughly 8 hours. The scent lasts for multiple days on clothes, though.

Smell: 9/10
Projection: 7/10

I was looking for a sweet scent for spring and came accross this one in the shop. After smelling this one all other fragrances I was testing weren't very noticable because of the strong sweet opening of coral fantasy.

Was kinda suprised about the smell. Opening is very smeet and it kinda smacks you in the face with the sweetness of the red apple. In the dry down it becomes more musky and floral. I really like how this scent shapes itself in the drydown.

Longevity is very good I get up to 10 hours. Sillage is little bit up from average.

8.5/10 for me!

share

hellogoddag

From initial blast it's very very sweet and loud. Sweet synthetic apple and red berry scent.
Not a fragrance for me I thought.
But after an hour or two - love. Amazing.
Floral musky heaven - at least on skin. On clothes it's still the sweet topnotes.
Overall I find the fragrance quite daring and feminine. That's fine by me.

I just noticed that it smells like Layton after thinking about what it smells familiar with after my first two wearings. Longevity is about 6-8 hrs on my skin with good projection for about 2-3 hours. Compliment getter. 👏

It’s just a sheer people pleaser, draws people into and gets compliments, a great summer fragrance and going out in general with fiends and family.

This scent was an amazing purchase. I went in at 7pm on new year’s eve to spray a sample on my arm and could still smell it the next morning at 9am. It opens sickeningly sweet with a lot of apple, but in about 15 minutes it becomes more tolerable and subtle. I feel that it can be worn anywhere any time, it is gentle and warm enough to be a winter/fall fragrance but it’s also sweet and sort of flowery and citrusy enough to be summer and spring. This became my signature scent as soon as I bought it and i get compliments quite frequently. It projects about 4 feet for near 6 hours i’d say. The scent also lingers on clothes, I go to wear a jacket days later and find it still smelling like Coral Fantasy. This is a 9/10 for me I’d say. Perhaps try it on before buying to see if you like it.

Valentino Born in Roma Coral Fantasy.
A crisp red apple and cardamom opening that melts into a soft candied apple with the bourbon geranium, lavender and Clary sage with a touch of tobacco for roundness in the mids. Then everything melts together in the dry down with the semi sweet patchouli and vetiver.
The lavender and Clary sage with a touch of vetiver in the mids and drown down reminds me of Ralph Lauren’s Ralph’s Club dry down (which I absolutely adore) along with the apple, tobacco and patchouli give it a slightly fruity/sweetness to it.
Some may say it’s uninspired or an average mass appealing scent, but so are 90% of designers frags made for the masses. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t smell good. And at the end of the day that’s all that matters. If it smells good to you then it’s worth the purchase.
I would suggest testing it on skin. In the air and on strip it may come off a little too sweet for some. But on skin it is magical.

share

Dark Owl

I tried this again after first trying it in April last year and I like it as much now if not even more. Without getting too in-depth it's in a similar style to crowd pleasing, youthful, modern fragrances such as The Most Wanted, Stronger With You and Ralph's Club, particularly the first two perhaps but I am reminded a little of RC too. It may not be re-writing fragrance history it seems but it's an excellent scent in my opinion, fantastic presentation too.

Edit; Also above average longevity & projection for me.

Another nice addition to the Valentino Uomo family. While it reminds me of other fragrances, it doesn't leave me feeling like it's nothing special. I see the comparisons with SWY and Yellow Dream and I don't think this smells like them at all.

Upon first spray, the apple note is very prominent and pleasant. Really sweet, like a sexy sweet. Not picking up too much cardamom but I know it's there. An underrated aspect of fragrance notes in my opinion is how a fragrance transitions from opening notes to heart notes and so on. The sweetness from the apple goes to an aromatic sweetness from the sage seamlessly and it's hard to tell that the apple is totally gone. I really enjoy this, and while there are niche offerings in this similar category that I would prefer, there are few design offerings that are better than this. 8.5/10

share

BigBroNaki

Juicy and fruity opening, warm tobacco drydown. Great scent for cooler days. Bottle is sexy. Price is acceptable at a discount. I got my 100ml bottle for 75 euros. Only problem is projection.

Projection seems strong only in the first hour or two and then it becomes a skin scent for about the remaining 4/5 hours. After that I can smell it very slightly but probably not enough for people to pick it up anymore. Wish it was a bit more potent like the intense version of Valentino Uomo (coral fantasy intense would be perfect).

People bash it for lacking identity and what not but an average person is not a fraghead and you'll impress them easier with this fragrance than some hyper complex niche oud fragrance, especially if you're in a younger age category. That said I don't even think this is generi at all. Never smelled someone who smelled like this.

If you want a winter fragrance but aren't a big fan of the heavier and darker fragrances out there and want something a bit lighter than that this is a great buy. It can be a bit too sweet for someones taste so try it out. Also try out the other flankers and see which one you like most, the intense version is stronger but less fruitier. Very sexy drydown still (better than coral fantasy I'd say) which is more prominent and stays longer on your skin. It is a bit darker however.

share

Phresh Man

Not gonna lie, this is very interesting! It's not like the typical stuff that's out now, the opening is so fresh yet so deep and dark. I actually applied this at Sephora to see what the performance would be like and I'd say it's a very solid release! It has a mature sweetness mixed with your tonka bean dry down-

share

FragStar

Opens with an airy red apple, cardamon, and slightly boozy geranium. The feeling is fresh, fruity and lightly spiced. The dry down brings out the tobacco and lavender, which blend to add a clean and warm accord. The geranium adds a rose scent which gains strength throughout the dry down. Vetiver blends with the patchouli to add a stylish facet. Good for the colder seasons, but not as good as Yellow Dream, with is fresh and has a more accomplished fruit and spice combination. A solid fragrance, but not as daring as it could have been.

share

surfyrig

Loving this!!

Many called it generic but I disagree. Maybe safe and not too risky or unusual to smell, but still a very unique mixture of wintery, sweet and yet masculine.

Especially recommended for nighttime but works during the day too.

Long lasting and with very good projection, people notice it in a positive way and room still smells like it after you leave.

recommended for men who are looking for something that will be enjoyed by everyone around them, but still make them feel special, as it doesn’t resemble anything of the usual designer men’s party/club/bar perfumes and has its own character but will still have a highly enjoyable and approachable smell.

8/10 Smell 8/10 Longevity

share

Kinda redundant if you have stronger with you or the most wanted from azzaro , nothing groundbreaking but if you can find a good deal it's solid for cool weather .

Shon LV

Fragrance projects for around 3 hours and lasts up to 7-8 hours. It's okey scent but nothing groundbreaking. The freshness of Apple lifts up a bit Stronger With You DNA and tobacco dry down gives interesting twist. But overall it lacks naturals and up close smells quite synthetic.
I rate it 6.5/10
Batch number 38W501L
If you can get 50ml under 50euro then it's worth it if you don't have similar scents.

When some people say that all men’s perfumes smell the same, this is probably the smell they’re thinking of. Like previous comments stated, it smells very generic and lacks an identity.

share

Funky_Monk1988

Completely agree with Kelvintran2297: this lacks some identity. It smells very generic (the apple/ lavender/ cardamom), BUT longevity is very good here. Especially when you compare it with with the YSL Y line. So if you're looking for a sweet boy with good performance, this one won't let you down. Same goes for the original Born in Roma (smells a bit more soapy in the dry down).

share

Young Scent

I honestly don’t know where to begin with this fragrance. I’m sort of a newcomer to this whole business but I absolutely adore this fragrance. It’s so perfect in every aspect and truly does give you different notes throughout the day. Some people may think this doesn’t last long, but boy does it last a long time for me. I put this fragrance on around 4 o’clock and can still smell it at 1 o’clock the next day! That’s 21 hours!! The opening is sweet but not too sweet which is a plus for me because I personally dislike very sweet fragrances. When you smell it you really do get those Apple notes and once you take your nose off of it you can smell an ever so slightly hint of spice that gives me a kick. It is absolutely delightful. If you haven’t bought this fragrance yet I don’t know what’s gotten into you but you HAVE to check this out.
10/10: Price

10/10: Sillage

I got a decant yesterday, and It was a disappointment for me.
The beginning is a bit cloying, full of sweetness, with apple notes and some lavender, which you can easily smell from sweet other fragrance like YSL Y EDT, Ultra Male, Spicebomb Night Vision, or Versace Eros. I was expecting a lot from the dry down as many comments said the tobacco will appear, but it actually doesn't. The dry down is actually more pleasant than the opening, but it still lacks identity. Beside the notes listed above, I recognize musk and amber as well.
The projection is good, last abut 8-10 hours on my skin.
It's not a bad fragrance, it is still a good choice for young people who like sweet perfume, but for me, it is just too mainstream.

share

Mciccone

Bought this along with uomo intense and the original at the same time. It’s def not a love for me and as others have mentioned it has some similarities to Night Vision although I like that fragrance more. I was a bit surprised by this considering Uomo and some of Valentinos older offerings. I guess I was expecting something a little more original than what the born In Roma line is doing as I’ve always had a high regard for Valentino as a designer house for there more daring designer releases. I will say that I prefer the original born in Roma to CF and YD; which smell basically the same with the exception of the candy apple opening in CF. There is nothing here to hate, unless you steer away from sweet fragrances. Unfortunately, for me, there is also nothing here to love and it probably won’t get much use.

Wow! Wow! Wow!
Amazing fragrance!
Very masculine fresh and fruity sweet,
The apple tobacco combo is unmatched,
Very unique fragrance except of the opening with kind of reminds me of Eros Edt, definitely not a bad thing or a downside tho.
Projection beast!
Last around 7-12 hours on my skin which is great,
Very versatile you can wear it all year round except for really hot summer days.

Definitely recommend this one.

I think this one is a BEAST! I’m not a huge fan of dark heavy scents like tobacco vanille, tuscan leather, noir de noir etc. so this is up my alley.
Found this one to be a really fresh frag with autumn-vibes from the red apple. Leans toward night time but def daytime friendly.
Seems to stick for quite a while aswell.

Let me know what you think!

share

Llaszlo

What a disappointment.... Why? What was the point of this release? It smells like a dozen of other scents. And where is the tobacco note? The bubble gum sweet apple (synthetic, of course) dominates this fragrance! Nothing unique, nothing interesting here, just a blah same thing all over again... I was expecting way more from Valentino! I highly suggest to avoid this latest issue of Born in Roma flanker. Not to mention the poor longevity... It becomes a skin scent in 2 hours :-(

share

Nate_915

Sprayed this on skin at a Macy’s. The opening is super sweet and juvenile smelling, but the dry down is nice with the tobacco coming out. The sweetness dials down some from the opening and this gets warm and spicy while still having some freshness on top. Overall I think this is nice, but I can’t really see when I’d personally wear it. It’s casual and playful. I think it’s too sweet and spicy for the heat of summer and not dark and rich enough for the cold, so really it could fit every season or none at all. Probably best for 21-25 yr/old guys going out to bars.

share

Jando_859

I’m gonna say one thing. WOW! Didn’t think I would like this frag at all but man was I wrong. Tried it on as soon as I got it and it smells delightful. The sweet red apple just punches you in the face but it settles down nicely with the vetiver and tobacco. You notice the sweetness of the apple, the freshness of the lavender and the boldness of the tobacco right away. The longevity is great, going on 8 hours and it’s still strong. Sillage is good so far, haven’t tried it in public yet but with a scent this pleasant and strong I’m sure to get noticed. I can see my self using this year round on a casual day or night out. Don’t know how it’s gonna act with the Texas heat yet but I’ll know that with time. Blind bought it and I don’t regret it!
