It’s a smart idea, but idk that 1uppers are willing to pony up the dough for new pinball machines? Those 1up things are $500 new, not $6500 new.
Still, they get enough influencers and people outside the hobby to insist that it’s super cool and the new new…there are certainly sales to be gained. With the inevitable pay-to-play additions to IC, they can get micro-transactional business from those who can’t afford to buy an entire machine.
All smart business moves.

Emulator communities have been a big source of folks going into arcade machine collecting. They play their memories, classic games, nostalgia overload, they then move onto stuff like building cabs and also in some cases getting into collecting even the real things.
I don't think price is that much of a factor when I've seen plenty of game rooms posted on social media that cost a small fortune, and then see they are packed with 1up units. They clearly got the dough, it's all about finding those who got the money and looking to trade up to the real deal.
