Woot! has the Fire TV Soundbar on sale for $79.99, a new all-time low, and other Fire TV deals

Woot! currently has several deals on Fire TV devices including the Fire TV Soundbar for $79.99, which is 33% off its regular price and the new lowest price that it has ever been. While I’m not a fan of the Fire TV Soundbar at its list price of $119.99, at $40 off it’s starting to make more sense for those that want a very basic soundbar. Woot! also has the Refurbished Fire TV Pro Remote for $21.99 and the Refurbished 1st-gen Fire TV Stick 4K for $16.99. There are also some deals on Amazon-branded Fire TV Smart TVs and Fire Tablets to consider. All items ship for free if you’re a Prime member, since Woot! is owned by Amazon.

2nd-gen Fire TV Stick 4K is now available in India for the first time

When Amazon launched the 2nd-gen Fire TV Stick 4K late last year, it was available in nearly all locations globally where Fire TVs are sold, but one exception was India. That’s now no longer the case as the latest 4K Firestick is now available to preorder in India for the first time. Unfortunately, you still can’t buy the Fire TV Stick 4K Max or the Fire TV Cube in India, so the 2nd-gen Fire TV Stick 4K is the most powerful Fire TV you can buy in India. It’s available for ₹5,999, which is about $70 USD, and will be released on May 13th.

Walmart’s Onn 4K Pro Remote has a Backlight and a Remote Finder

A few features of Walmart’s new Onn 4K Pro streaming device that weren’t immediately obvious when it debuted earlier this week have to do with its remote. While the remote looks a lot like the standard Google-designed G10 remote that ships with many Google TV devices on the surface, it’s packing a few more new features than just the addition of a customizable star button. Those features are a backlight and a remote finder. Read more ›

Walmart finally lists the new Onn 4K Pro for sale on its website

Even though the Onn 4K Pro has already been available to buy in select stores for a few days now, Walmart has only now gotten around to listing it online. The Onn 4K Pro listing on Walmart.com is now up with a price of $49.88. However, it’s either not quite ready to be purchased yet or has already sold out, as it is currently showing as out of stock. The images in the listing do show a remote with the big “Free TV” button, even though some customers have received units without the button, so it seems like the button is here to stay. You can use the SKU item number 5193222892 to call your local Walmart to see if they have any in stock or you can enter your email address on the product page to be notified when it’s back in stock online.

Walmart’s Onn 4K Pro box with Google TV comes with a built-in speaker and far-field microphones for hands-free “Hey Google” voice control, but the feature is disabled by default. Turning it on isn’t entirely obvious, as the setting is buried in a menu you might not expect to look into. Google TV’s new ‘Magic’ Star Button can launch any app or change TV input — Available first on the Onn 4K Pro remote

Rumors and leaks of a “magic” star button for Google TV remotes stretch all the way back to 2020 when leaked marketing material for the, then-unreleased, 2020 Chromecast 4K showed a mysterious star button on the remote. The 2020 Chromecast remote eventually launched without the star button, but leaks of alleged Google TV star buttons persisted throughout the years with, most recently, the Android TV 14 beta release containing diagrams of an unreleased Chromecast remote containing the star button, yet again. This week, Walmart released its brand new Onn 4K Pro streaming box and, in addition to a giant “Free TV” button, the included remote is the first to ship with the elusive star button, so, here’s what it can do and how it works. Walmart has released its new Onn 4K Pro with impressive specs. Despite having a relatively low price, compared to other similarly specced streaming devices, performance expectations are set a bit high since Walmart chose to put “Pro” in its name. Walmart’s Onn 4K Pro remote has a giant stupid “Free TV” button on it

The brand new Onn 4K Pro Google TV streaming box from Walmart released this week has been looking like a killer device. With specs like 32GB of storage, 3GB of RAM, hands-free controls, quad-core 2 GHz CPU, hands-free controls, and much more, all for under $50, it’s quite compelling. Unfortunately, my excitement took a nosedive the second I took its remote out of the box because there was a giant stupid blue “Free TV” button smack-dab in the middle of the remote. Read more ›
