This device appears to work, showing the power, voltage, current, etc when connected. However, either I am doing something wrong, interpreting something wrong, or this device is seriously slowing the charge rate on my phone. When I plugged my iPhone in through it, it showed a power of around 6 watts. Having tried several chargers at various power levels, I'm fairly confidant that my iPhone can charge at 20watts or even a bit higher, so having this device tell me it is only drawing 6 watts is troubling.
That said, it does appear to display the power usage, and my phone did charge, so my best guess is simply that the fast charge circuitry of the charger wasn't triggered, and therefore it was only doing a "slow" charge (5v, ~1.2 amps) - a significant limitation if so, unless there is some way to "fix" it.
If you're curious how much power a low-power USB device is using, or if a USB charger is working at all, this device should be fine for that - it does seem to work. However, it also seems that it doesn't trigger fast charging, so it is somewhat limited in that regard. YMMV.
