Less than 25 years ago. About when the movie The Matrix came out, the thought of the government demanding to know your assets was almost unheard of. You had a right to own gold, collectibles & cash and it was no one’s business. If you had income you were supposed to report it but assets were not reportable. Today governments around the world take it as some sort of birthright to know your private business and holdings. This isn’t the way it has been and is not the way it should be. It’s a very new and very bad idea.
