Dear Rooster Teeth Community,

Over the years at Rooster Teeth, we aim to be direct in sharing news as it happens. It is with an extremely heavy heart that this morning during our company All Hands meeting, a very important announcement was made. We are grateful for our audience, our fans, and our community’s support during this challenging time. As has been shared in other places, and sent to press and our internal staff, a copy of the memo sent from the General Manager of Rooster Teeth, Jordan Levin is shared with you all below.

Please remember something as you begin to read the below message and DEFINITELY before you comment. We, all of us who work at Rooster Teeth, are processing this in real time just like you. Please be mindful that this is on the Rooster Teeth website, a place where staff read, interact, and engage with each other and with you. If you have questions, begin to leave them here - and thank you for your patience. Continued updates will be posted here, on RoosterTeeth.com, but you can also reach out and submit questions or feelings to our Support Page(https://support.roosterteeth.com/hc/en-us/requests/new) or comments on this post. We will be hosting a livestream tomorrow, March 7, 2024 on RoosterTeeth.com talking about this more.

---- Jordan's Memo Below ----

Dear Rooster Teeth,

Since our founders created and uploaded their first video on the then-called World Wide Web in 2003, Rooster Teeth has been a source of creativity, laughter, and lasting innovation in the wildly volatile media industry.

We’ve read the headlines about industry-wide layoffs and closures, and you’ve heard me give my perspective and updates on the rapidly changing state of media and entertainment during each of our monthly All Hands meetings.

Since inheriting ownership and control of Rooster Teeth from AT&T following its acquisition of TimeWarner, Warner Bros. Discovery continued its investment in our company, content and community. Now however, it’s with a heavy heart I announce that Rooster Teeth is shutting down due to challenges facing digital media resulting from fundamental shifts in consumer behavior and monetization across platforms, advertising, and patronage.

Please note, the Roost team is not currently impacted by this action as the Roost Podcast Network will continue operating and fulfilling its obligations while WBD evaluates outside interest in acquiring this growing asset.

We have many questions to answer in the coming days and weeks, and the opportunity to work together to implement the best way to wind things down for us and our community. We’re working through what comes next in real time, and we will be as open, direct, and accessible as possible. Thank you all in advance for your patience and support of one another.

Let's take a moment to celebrate our 21-year contribution to the zeitgeist, advancing creativity and outlasting many of our peers from the early days of online video and digital-first content.

**** TO A CREATIVE LEGACY ****
From a garage in Buda, TX, to global screens large and small, our teams of dreamers and doers have introduced and grown what made Rooster Teeth stand out: animation, comedy, and gaming. From new forms of animated comedy with machinima to countless viral memes, including the Immortal Snail (aka Snail Assassin), to a US-born animated series embraced by Japan as anime, and record-breaking (at the time) crowdfunded movies. You've accomplished so much and made dreams come true here. You've turned original IP into video games, comic books, and VTubers. You've directed short videos, mo-cap, and films. You've puppeteered, hosted podcasts, and have built a thriving community that spans the globe. Your creativity knows no bounds, and you'll continue contributing significantly to culture wherever your paths may take you.

**** TO THOSE WHO COME FIRST ****
Despite passing through many corporate owners, Rooster Teeth transcended a media business and was a dynamic movement that shaped the bond between communities, creators, and storytelling. Our founders didn’t have a blueprint for a media empire, but they got close to building one alongside a community that fueled its remarkable growth. In its earliest days, RT relied on community sponsorship through time, dollars, and unwavering passion. Volunteers evolved into staff, and the snowball effect grew, resulting in new relationships, marriages, births, and shared experiences that have changed lives.

**** TO TRAILBLAZING CONTENT CREATION ****
Our approach to content creation on emerging platforms paved the way for new media models. We inspired generations of creators across streaming, machinima, animation, let’s plays, merch drops, touring, podcasting, and more. Companies like GameStop, YouTube, Facebook, Spotify, and TikTok asked us to collaborate with them in their earliest days because we set a standard for what a digital-first brand could be. We boldly took our content beyond screens and into community-driven experiences.

**** TO A CHANGING INDUSTRY ****
Every story reaches its final pages. Rooster Teeth’s closure isn’t merely an end; it reflects broader business dynamics. Monetization shifts, platform algorithms, advertising challenges, and the ebb and flow of patronage—all these converging factors have led to many closures in the industry. While we learn about updates on programming day by day, we will share our plans for shows, franchises, partnerships, and merch soon and share those updates with teams internally and with the community on RoosterTeeth.com

**** TO OUR FINAL SEASON ****
Though not intentional, It’s only appropriate that our last season of “Red vs. Blue” coincides with us navigating this closure together. Our legacy is not just a collection of content but a history of pixels burned into our screens, minds, and hearts. Rooster Teeth has made an indelible mark on the media industry, and we should be so proud of the countless ways we pioneered a business connecting creators and content with a dedicated community.

With respect, gratitude, and sincere appreciation,
Jordan Levin
This is honestly so weird and sad to me. I've been watching since 2021-ish and some the content has gotten me through some tough times. My thoughts are eith you guys during this hard time...
I was charged for a year long FIRST subscription even though yall are shutting down. How do I get my money back? What is the point of taking my money when you can't deliver for a year long subscription? I'm happy to pay the next month or so while you're still an active company but taking my money for a whole year is pretty gross.
Consider what the darker side of your company has gone towards I'm not surprised it's happening and honestly it was a long time coming.
i am glad rooster teeth was a thing inthe first place, i personally dont care for rvb, but i highly appreciated alot of there content, rwby most of all, and here lately the stinky dragon. i hope everyone can find there way threw this and end up somewhere they want to be and are happy with.

p.s cheddar biscuits are better than breadsticks.
Does anyone know if the YouTube channel will keep up ALL videos? Like seasons 1-3 of Camp Camp, for example?
Can I have the channel. It's been my to dream to buy this company.
As a person who grew up on rooster teeth, RVB, RWBY, achievement, hunters, and other rooster teeth affiliated content. I’m sad to hear what’s happening with rooster teeth. I hope the best for everyone that is associated within the community, as this was my childhood and I grew up on it. I will always remember this as one of the better times as my childhood and the Memories that were made getting away from certain problems in life just made everything a little bit more joyful. Again, I wish the whole rooster teeth community, the best and good luck with your future, love a loyal fan. As a wise man once said “you ever wonder why we’re here”
As someone who literally spent the last four days binge watching RWBY in my free time, I am sad to see this play out in this way. I've known about RT since RvB and even tho that show wasn't my favourite, y'all still brought joy and laughter to my heart. I know a lot of times things, specifically IPs get tied into corporate nonsense that I honestly don't know much about.

But it's my sincerest hope, that this doesn't discourage the creators on your team. Times are tough but I believe all of you can pull through. I would for there to be continuation on RWBY but understand if there's not. You guys are awesome for creating what you want and letting your passions drive you. If I had the money personally I would buy your studio just so production could continue. But alas that is only wishful thinking. I wish all of your crew the best and hopefully, things are wrapped up nicely with the closure.

Thank you RT team for making something that I could relate to, that I cried to and had many moments of laughter. <3

Welp, I guess now's the time to step out of the shadows. I'm not sure who will see this (or if any will). Regardless, I'd like to share my small story of gratitude. (Apologies for the length. I know, "why use ten words when you can use 1000?" I'm a writer. It's the story of my life.)

For me, it started with a small animated short about a snail assassin. From there, I was hooked.

I've been a silent fan following RT through shows like RWBY, RTAA, Camp Camp, and Gen:Lock since 2012. When I could, I would get the DVDs to show my support but to also have hard copies of the shows.

While I wasn't introduced to Rooster Teeth until way later, it was RWBY that I became a big fan of. It kept me going through some very tough times in college. If nothing else because I wanted to see where the story would take the wayward team RWBY members during the season 3 finale.
While there may not be an end for some time (or potentially at all), I'd like to think the group met up just as the war ends, but the rebuild of society begins. Picking up the pieces of their own community with their main hub being reallocated to Vacuo.

RTAA was another that will forever be my favorite. It was fun to watch and just laugh at the ridiculousness of life's scenarios with the crew. Whether it was Burnie and Gavin's rants, vents with Gus, Geoff's enthralling tales of life, odd encounters with Chris, or Barbra's pun-tastic timing ;) hearing about the early beginnings of RT and life outside of the office with friends; it honestly sounded like RT was a home away from home...a community that was built on top of another community.

I hope to see that again some day from you all. :)

While I didn't have the courage in the past (or money) to participate with the community fully, I just wanted to say THANK YOU for being a corner of the internet that felt like home away from home! You won't be forgotten. Your comedy skits/shorts reminded me of the humor from Homestar Runner, and your animation innovation remind me of no other.

I am grateful for the lessons learned throughout the years and the stories shared from you lovely folks at Rooster Teeth.

Wishing you all the best as you find your footing again! I hope to one day see you all rebuild your communities and that you all find peace in your next chapter of life. After it rains, keep looking up.
Really hope this website stays up or at least that y’all put red Vs blue back on YouTube cause where would I watch my favorite show, I just got my dad into this show and we’re on season 10 we really enjoy watching this show together
Red vs blue is the dream show I’m sad to see it and the the wonderful souls who created it leave, I know the impact you all have left on us will be unending, but a wonderful red vs blue quote I can recall is never say goodbyes I hate goodbyes ❤️
Everyone's talking about RWBY ending, when Camp Camp just got picked up for another season. Please Rooster Teeth, I NEED Camp Camp on Crunchyroll PLEASE I BEG OF YOU.
I'm 68 years old and have never been interested in anime until someone suggested RWBY to me. I came into RWBY when it was in the 2nd year and been a fan ever since. I hope that Crunchroll will take on CRWBY and continue Monty's and our dreams of RWBY.
So I’m just wondering with your partnership you have with Crunchyroll I’m sure they’ll be glad to buy Rwby from y’all and keep the series going until it’s over, it is something I think will make all of your fans happy, I started watching Rwby when it first came out, when I got to season nine I began to watch the series over with my sick mother and I really hope before she passes that I’m able to finish the series with her. Thank you for all you have done. I know this is an incredible hardship on y’all, I just hope something can be worked out…
