Here is a reason why I have been screaming into the void for over 2 years now about hacktivist activity.
Is it the biggest threat in the landscape and something that should be your top priority? Not likely.
Should you be aware of hacktivist activity and groups? Absolutely, it's a part of the landscape that is nuanced and diverse.
As the recent Mandiant report highlights - state actors at times are leveraging hacktivist groups who can be overt and noisy in the landscape.

A group called Cyber Army of Russia posted videos in which it tampers with control software for US water utilities, a Polish wastewater plant, and a French hydroelectric dam.
Now a report from Mandiant ties the group to Russia's Sandworm hacker group. wired.com/story/cyber-ar
