UPPER DARBY — The Upper Darby School District has extended the lease at the former St. Charles School, Dennison Avenue, for an additional five years.
School directors voted to amend the original 2007 five-year lease for an additional five years to include use of an extra room for a one-time payment of $8,500, with the option of a second room for the same amount.
The district leased the former parochial school to deal with overcrowding in the district’s elementary schools for $17,217 per month. The 2009 enrollment at the renamed Charles Kelly School, housing first through fifth grade, is 295 pupils.
The amended lease extends the contract to 2015 with an annual cancellation option in the final four years.
