DIY Floor Table-this is a super simple DIY floor table that is a very simple but functional idea for floor seating. Plus, you don’t have to worry about the chairs!
Who’s ready for a dinner party?! We are always looking for unique fun ideas. And this DIY floor table is the perfect project for floor seating that is surprisingly easy to do! In fact, your local hardware store does all the important work anyway. Call Lowe that you have always liked my selection of wood for me!
I wanted to keep the bohemian feel of a coffee table by adding some original dishes with incompatible pillows. I love the unexpected color combinations in this coffee table scene, don’t you? It would definitely be the perfect outdoor dinner on a cool day with lots of knot pillows and blankets to sit on the floor. I’m never one to shy away from a good DIY project, but the simpler it is, the superior in my opinion! Especially if you combine it with a full dinner menu!
Materials and tools necessary for the manufacture of a DIY floor table
- 1 piece of 24″x48″ finished wood- pre-cut and pre-sanded into the finished wood. We used plywood to reduce costs.
- 2 pieces of 18″x2″x12″ wood – if you buy a long piece, the hardware store will cut it for you.
- Wood and Stain brush – we bought half a pint of Minwax ebony interior paint.
- Corrugated Supports
- Metallic gold spray paint-optional for gold supports
- Liquid Nails
- Drills and screws
- Ruler or tape measure
- Felt Pads-For Table Legs
- Sandpaper-optional for untreated wood
- 4 x 90 degree right angle brackets with screws
If you have the wood custom-cut for you at the hardware store, be sure to sand the edges that are too rounded so that anyone who hits the table and puts their feet under it will not be scratched.
Floor seating ideas / how to make a DIY floor seating table
Step 1-Once the wood is prepared and ready, use a wood stain with polyurethane to stain the wood in the color of your choice. The polyurethane helps to cover the wood to make it water resistant and easier to wipe. Let it dry completely.
Step 2-while this is drying, you can also spray gold on the supports. Let them dry completely. Back to the wooden parts:
Step 3-Measure and mark from each end of the table where you want the legs to rest underneath, depending on the space required for your supports. In our matter, we marked 10 inches from each end of the table to where the leg would meet the support and 3 inches on each side of the leg to be centered.
Step 4-Now measure 3 inches from each end of the leg closest to the outer edge at both ends. Here the supports are drilled. Once everything is measured, you can also trace the entire leg in place, as you will remove it to apply the liquid nails, then replace it.
Step 5-Press a generous total of liquid nails on one edge of the legs. Make sure that there are not so many liquid nails that they overflow from both edges when pressed on the table. Let it harden completely before attaching the clamps to both edges.
Step 6-While you’re waiting, you can apply felt pads to the bottom of the table legs to make it easier to maneuver when you’re done.
Step 7-after setting, place the brackets on your measurement marks and screw them on the table top initial. This will facilitate the subsequent piercing in the legs.
Step 8-when all the brackets are screwed on, place the four corner brackets at 90 degrees on the opposite side of the legs aligned with each curved bracket and screw them firmly.
DIY coffee table tutorial / DIY dining table ideas
I usually don’t tend to have a bohemian look when styling. But I always love the way a space feels really loved and lived. Not to mention that it’s much more welcoming than the old school offices, isn’t it?!
Not all guests will appreciate a coffee table or a floor-standing dining table. So if you make sure you get really comfortable floor cushions for pairing, it will go a long way!
I designed this bohemian-inspired environment with these colorful tea cups, a gold pineapple mug, a Mini set of shot glasses, palm leaf patterned plates and a variety of colorful floor cushions. You can also use this DIY table as a floor table.
