Before MGM's cat and mouse duo, Van Beuren produced a series of shorts entitled, Tom & Jerry, in which the series was not to be confused by MGM's cat and mouse duo. However in the 1940's, when Official Films purchased the Van Beuren library, Tom & Jerry were renamed as "Dick & Larry" to avoid confusion with the cat and mouse duo, Tom & Jerry from MGM.
