For the first time ever, we have a sponsor.
PirateSoftware is providing generous funding for this competition, making the prize pool much larger than it has ever been. A huge shoutout to him and his community, thank you so much.
It has been six years since the last time we've done a competition for the slide theme. So long ago in fact, that decomp wasn't even available. We believe Slide is a perfect theme for all the potential newcomers looking to create a SM64 hack.
If you are a newcomer do not be discouraged by the competition aspect of this!! All participants who give an honest effort will be rewarded and their work will be showcased on stream as well! Everyone who participates will be a winner.
All hacks will be streamed and voted on at twitch.tv/SimpleFlips shortly after the deadline.
The prize pool is a bit modular and will be finalized when the total number of entrants is determined. As of now, it looks something like this:
1st place: $1000
2nd place: $750
3rd place: $600
4th place: $500
5th place: $400
6th place: $350
7th place: $200
8th place: $200
9th place: $200
10th place: $200
All participants/entrants below this will receive the rest of the prize pool with distribution amounts depending on the total number of entrants.

Hello! The SM64 ROM Hacks Server is hosting the second annual SM64 Romhack Speedrunning League! The league is an event where players will be drafted for a team, and you will have 1.5 months to gain points for your team by achieving Personal Best times in a group of hacks! The hacks chosen for this league will be:
Mario's New Earth
SM64: The Green Stars
and Ztar Attack Rebooted!
This event will start with a draft on September 16, where a group of captains will choose what players they want on their team. After the draft, players will have until October 31 to get the best times they can in those three hacks!
Of course, all runners of all skill levels are welcome! The point system has been tweaked since last league, so players of lower skill levels can still get lots of points by doing more categories! If you've ever been interested in Romhack Speedrunning and wanted to try it out, this event is a great opportunity for everyone!
If you are officially joining the event and would like to be drafted to one of the teams, please fill out the following form: https://forms.gle/X4TgzdVws5Yb7Jci7
This event is being held in the SM64 ROM Hacks Discord Server, so be sure to join with this link https://discord.gg/BYrpMBG if you are interested in joining the event, and be sure to check out the #speedrun-league-announcements channel for more information!

SimpleFlips' next competition is starting! The theme is TROLL:
Create a hack that lives up to the definition of trolling. Bait the player into falling for your tricks, use mind games to stay one step ahead, and make everyone laugh at your ingenious shenanigans or facepalm at how obvious they should have been. However you prefer to troll is fine so long as it adheres to the rules:
All hacks will be streamed and voted on at https://twitch.tv/simpleflips shortly after the deadline.
PRIZES:
1st place: $300
2nd place: $250
3rd place: $200
4th place: $150
5th place: $100
6th place: $100
7th place: $100
8th place: $100
Many runner ups will also receive $50 depending on how many people enter. Many other participants will receive $20 under the presumption that "genuine effort was given to your project."
Submit your hack here once it's complete: https://romhacking.com/submit
A new update has just been deployed, and you may now enhance your account security by enabling multi-factor authentication. A new Account Security page has also been added, which you can access by clicking on your avatar in the top-right (while signed in) and clicking Account Security. A Parallel Launcher update will be released shortly to allow it to continue to work on accounts with multi-factor authentication enabled.
A bug that was preventing jsml files from being uploaded as star layouts has also been identified and fixed. If you previously had issues trying to upload a .jsml layout for a hack, try again, and it should work now.
Finally, our privacy policy has been updated. The following line has been added to the Use of personal information section:
Your location may be inferred from your IP address for the purpose of showing your login location on the Account Security page.
This Friday, on March 17th, ROMHACKING.com will be hosting the next Mario Jams SM64 ROM hacking competition. This competition is not related to the competitions held in the past by RHDC or SimpleFlips, and is not organized by either. Mario Jams is instead a smaller ROM hacking community, organized by myself (
These competitions last only one week between the announcement of the theme and the deadline, encouraging smaller, more experimental hacks where you can test your limits and try new things. Even if you've never made a ROM hack before, you're very much welcome to join and submit something - it's much lower stakes, and much less of a commitment. There are no prizes because of this.
On Friday, March 17th at 5 PM Eastern Time, the theme for this competition was revealed at https://www.twitch.tv/mariojams, and submissions opened at the same time. Submissions will close at midnight the night of Saturday, March 25th.
SUBMIT HERE: MARIO JAMS 6 - FAÇADE COMPETITION
On the evening of Sunday, March 26th, all of the hacks that have been submitted will be played on the same channel, https://www.twitch.tv/mariojams. They will be played by
I hope to see you at the reveal stream! Be sure to join the Mario Jams Discord server to stay up to date on this competition, as well as to show off progress on your hacks.

Welcome to the new and improved RHDC website. This update was mostly focused on rewriting the website to clean up a lot of technical debt and make it much easier to develop for in the future. That being said, there are some new features:
• Hack authors can now specify their hack's level of console compatibility. I would encourage everyone who has made a console compatible hack go and update your hack versions now to set their console compatibility.
• There is now a second leaderboard specifically for Kaizo hacks
• You can now see the placements of hacks on the competitions page. If your hack placed in the top 5, you will see a badge on your hack page
• You can now change your username from your user profile page (limited to once every 6 months)
• You can now change your password from your user profile page
• Your play time is now visible on your user profile. You can also see your play time on individual hacks.
• The hack submission process has been entirely revamped and streamlined
• Email verification is no longer required to sign in; however, you will need to verify your email before you can comment on hacks or submit your own hacks.
This update also removed the forums. The forums were very rarely checked by staff and moderators, and it was redundant with the much more active Discord server. If you have any questions or suggestions, you can join the Discord linked in the side panel.
Our privacy policy has also been updated.
If you encounter any bugs with the new website, please report them in the #bug-reports channel of the Discord.
Also, the new website (not the server, just the frontend) is open source. If you are interested in the technology behind it, you can see it at https://gitlab.com/mpharoah/rhdc-client
The deadline for the Dream Themed Level Competition has been extended by ONE WEEK! The new deadline is September 10th and hacks will be streamed on the 11th.
