I look forward to future research on this important topic. Gaining a better understanding of the development of gender dysphoria will allow us to better help the current population of teens and young adults experiencing it. /6.

I started the decade in NJ with one spouse, one child, one teen and researching reproductive health. I ended the decade in RI with (the same) one spouse, two young adult children, one dog, a sometimes-empty nest and researching gender dysphoria and detransition. Happy 2020!

Some people are using this research to imply that it represents the experiences of all people with gender dysphoria and to negate the fact that transition can be beneficial for some. That is a misuse of this work and is not acceptable. /4.

Time to fact-check @jack_turban 's latest article. Spoiler alert—it’s full of misrepresentations and errors. Jack’s mistakes could be forgiven as he is in medical training (a first year-fellow) with much to learn, except that he positions himself as an expert. /1 x.com/jack_turban/st…

I don’t agree that the reasons you list justify ignoring the desistance research that exists- especially given that there are no desistance studies yet using DSM V to refute or confirm those findings.

Your statement “a large proportion of the kids in those studies didn’t even meet GID criteria” —isn’t a reason to discard the desistance studies because there has been an analysis that separates those who didn’t meet criteria from those who did.

Dr. Turban, you are correct that the existing desistance studies did not use the DSM V criteria (as they used the criteria that was in use at the time the kids were seen). However, the research shows that 67.2% of those meeting (pre-DSM V) ...
