I am thrilled to announce that my excellent colleagues and I are launching a non-profit research organization to study gender dysphoria! I will be leaving Brown University and appreciate the time I spent there. @robertod2010
I am delighted to report that, after a rigorous post-publication review, a revised version of my paper has been published by PLOS ONE. I am pleased that my work has withstood this extensive peer-review process. /1.
Clinicians should care about all outcomes from the interventions they promote. Ignoring the experiences of detransitioners when they are inconvenient to a preferred narrative is beyond irresponsible. #DetransAwarenessDay

I look forward to future research on this important topic. Gaining a better understanding of the development of gender dysphoria will allow us to better help the current population of teens and young adults experiencing it. /6.
I started the decade in NJ with one spouse, one child, one teen and researching reproductive health. I ended the decade in RI with (the same) one spouse, two young adult children, one dog, a sometimes-empty nest and researching gender dysphoria and detransition. Happy 2020!

That’s incorrect. I created the term. The first public appearance of the term was when the recruitment info was posted on websites. Then, parents began to use it. I believe a blogger wrote the false version where parents were already using the term.

Jack, this argument can't be used anymore to deny desistance. A reanalysis of only the individuals in the studies who met criteria was done. The majority (67.2%) of the kids who met DSM criteria desisted. Please read the analysis hbrs.no/wp-content/upl

I don’t agree that the reasons you list justify ignoring the desistance research that exists- especially given that there are no desistance studies yet using DSM V to refute or confirm those findings.

Your statement “a large proportion of the kids in those studies didn’t even meet GID criteria” —isn’t a reason to discard the desistance studies because there has been an analysis that separates those who didn’t meet criteria from those who did.

The following is an outstanding review of the desistance literature in a peer-reviewed journal. It analyzes the data for those who met diagnostic criteria separately. And it cites Olson et al, 2016. Definitely worth the read. doi.org/10.1080/155327

And it is important to note that there are no long-term studies of individuals with adolescent-onset gender dysphoria so it is entirely unknown whether their gender dysphoria is likely to desist or persist.
返信先: さん, さん
Exactly! And it’s not the job of the patient to make the diagnosis and select the best option for treatment. The clinicians are the ones who are trained in mental health or medicine and should be using their training and clinical judgement responsibly.
