I, a person who is NOT lockpickinglawyer, show you how to "pick" an electronic security gate lock that prevents access to a pool. The process can be tedious for the first minute, but the end result speaks for itself.

Yes, this is comedy, but it's also serious. Why is there a lock on the gate in the first place? The simple answer: INSURANCE. Pools are dangerous. Make the primary gate unable to be opened by random people or children so insurance covers accidents. It makes sense...in an insurance company way.

Imagine actively voting against all bodily autonomy outside of abortion and then standing on your victory hill proclaiming "I've fought the fight to protect bodily autonomy!" Imagine being so stupid that you forgot 2020 through 2022. Imagine being so brain-dead and inept that you forgot seeing that you paid double for gas and groceries and voted for more of the same. Democrat voters have made it loud and clear: they are peak stupid adult children that would gladly destroy the economy if it means a tiny minority of women can have abortions more easily.

2017 in Review and Where 2018 is Going - Jody Bruchon Entertainment

2017 was pretty cool. 2018 is going to be really sweet. I have so many great short films and projects planned and I'm looking forward to seeing them through.

Some of the wonderful things I have planned for 2018 include gear reviews, short films (watch out for The Old Man's Pendant III in particular), and reviews of terrible things I found on VHS tapes. I also plan to continue being super bad at playing the recorder in the classic 8th grade tradition. I haven't decided on whether or not I'm keeping the hair I've grown; it looks funny to me, but it's cold outside and every bit of insulation seems to help for now. Yes, I am an intellectual rockstar, but only in my own mind.

The WD Easystore at Best Buy is notorious among the DataHoarder subreddit for being the best way to get high-capacity desktop hard drives that cost the lowest price per TB of storage. Unfortunately, while they'll often post about sales on the drives and advise you to shuck them (remove the enclosure to use the drive inside as an internal drive instead), tutorials on how to actually get these plastic monsters apart are not always so easy to come by...and since I needed to do some server shuffling, I decided to shuck all three of them on camera to help you out.

10-year-old netbook still holds up today - Acer Aspire One AO532h (NAV50) - Jody Bruchon Tech

By modern standards, the Acer Aspire One series of netbooks from the late 2000s/early 2010s is depressingly weak and incapable. I have yet to see a single one of these netbooks run Windows 10 at a speed faster than "unusable." However, with a solid-state drive (SSD) upgrade and Windows 7 32-bit (instead of 64-bit due to the tiny cache sizes of Intel Atom N-series chips), this little underdog of a netbook works okay for basic tasks. I was able to handle a single browser tab and a one-on-one Zoom meeting on it, though the poor little Intel Atom N450 was pegging 99% usage almost the entire time and the audio occasionally broke up. Still, I got through it with minimal nuisance, and I'd call that a success!

I set a release date for my first episode of my web series "Jolly Old Snappers" which came and went with no episode posting. What happened?

My big editing computer messed up. A large amount of computer repair work appeared. A surprise plumbing problem at home wrecked most of a weekend. The overriding reason, though, is that about 70% through editing the first episode, I was very unhappy with it. It's not entertaining and pretty boring and I think you deserve something better, so I'm starting the process over.

This video is weird. I had posted it to YouTube right after I made it, when my sub count was closer to 30 (that LG G Stylo was pretty new). I was amused at the time, but the more I watched it, the more I felt embarrassed by it. I deleted it. It was still amusing on some level, and in 2018, this re-upload was made, but kept set to private. Every once in a while, I'd re-watch it when going through my video list. Today is June 2, 2020, and I no longer feel embarrassed by it. I made an interesting observation and I made the best of what was otherwise a waste of time and energy.

It also gave me the opportunity to show two other pieces of work I had done that don't warrant their own video: a time lapse of storm clouds in a grocery store parking lot, and the raw footage of my first experiment with chroma keying (and a very early learning experience in video editing) that I titled "Ghost Chomp."

I'm making it public today so that I can share the story with everyone, and perhaps inspire new filmmakers to experiment with the craft in ways they hadn't thought about before. And if you're gonna waste your time getting drunk, try to exploit the lowered inhibitions to be creative. How cool is it that red wine looks like water under infrared?!

This is a lightly edited remaster of a live stream from September 21, 2022 at midnight. I replaced the stream video with the camera's 4K recorded footage and used a barrel distortion effect to remove some of the warping from the fisheye lens. If you saw me post about that Panasonic 9mm f/1.7 lens I really want to buy...well, this is why I want it. That lens would produce this same angle of view but in far better quality and with no need for such extreme correction to make things not look so extremely warped.

I like this iMac. It's easy to get into, at least when compared against every other Intel iMac that exists. The old white ones required melting a credit card into an "S" shape to release latches while the all-silver ones (2010 etc.) have giant magnets right beside slots you have to put screws through, and then they eventually just went the "glue everything together" route. The hardest thing to figure out on this one is that you need to use suction cups on the front glass and remove the single screw holding in the bottom memory door.

Surely I'm not the only person that thinks that black people deserve their own original stories instead of an existing "white" story with a black coat of paint slapped on top of it. The people who think this is great because of "representation" should be deeply offended because it's not representation at all; it's exploitation of black skin to virtue signal and to stir controversy for marketing purposes.

Besides, even ignoring the whole lazy race-swapping thing...the movie looks awful. Is "she looks like she's in a dark, dirty place with amateur-level lighting" how black people really want to see themselves "represented?" How is it that ANY black person defends this absurd tokenism?

Trump's "Grab Them By The Pussy" Remark Was a Good Thing - Calling Out Corruption - Jody Bruchon

Trump was widely maligned for his Access Hollywood hot mic moment where he said "when you're a star, they'll let you do anything, grab them by the pussy." In context, it is extremely obvious that it is not an admission by Trump of non-consensually groping women, despite media parroting this lie in the hopes that it will become truth through repetition. I'm not making this video to talk about that, though; I need to share what I only recently realized about this remark by Trump and why it's actually a very good thing that he said it.

In short: he's recognizing that some women choose to use their sexuality to manipulate powerful men to obtain access to that power; it's not generally that powerful men are molesting unwilling women as in the Weinstein case, but instead that women are sexually provoking men with money and influence to become involved with them, thereby dragging that power towards themselves for personal benefit. Rather than making light of groping women, Trump's statement can be viewed as both noticing and openly calling out this form of corruption.

Don't you want someone in power who recognizes and calls out corruption? Well, yes, unless you're a person who benefits from that corruption. What does that tell you about the people who twisted the Access Hollywood audio around?

A Big Problem With Leftist YouTube's Alt-Right Pipeline Theory - Jody Bruchon

The concept of an "alt-right pipeline" has been popularized among "leftist YouTube"/"BreadTube" types, but I've found a major problem with it. By admitting that right-wing ideas are more compelling than their own ideas, they are conceding the ideological war to the right wing. They use the story as a bogeyman tale for how you can easily become a part of a label that they consider to be evil, and they of course are your only salvation. Unfortunately, this only works on people who are already vulnerable to the sort of social shaming being performed; it's the same tactic used by fire-and-brimstone religious types to convince people to blindly follow them, but the modern population is mostly immune to this form of shaming. Claims are made that the "right-wing" people can only win through deception and sketchy manipulation tactics, which is itself a sketchy manipulation tactic.

With the "come to our side" call to action failing, all that remains is the concession. The person attempting to persuade the viewer to sway far left through fears of "the alt-right pipeline" consuming them and making them into evil people is no different than a child who loses a game and immediately declares that their rival must have cheated to win, never once considering that the loss was in fact fair and legitimate.

When someone talks about pursuing justice, they're always taking about hurting someone else. Justice is nothing more than "harm for (supposedly) good purposes." Even the most benign examples of justice involve taking something away from or causing pain to someone. Social justice is a particularly troublesome concept because it almost always involves harming entire groups of people on behalf of other groups of people.

The bar for exacting justice should be set very high, because harming other people should never be taken lightly.

You can use this to prove that an image is yours. This method of watermarking should survive all but the most severe resizing, editing, and compression.

The Lie Of: Tone Policing - Jody Bruchon

"Tone policing" is claimed to be an illegitimate conversation tactic to shut down conversation by shifting focus from the arguments being made to the manner in which a person is delivering those arguments. While it is true that the way in which a statement is made doesn't change the truth or falsehood of the statement, accusations of "tone policing" are almost always an abuse tactic by the person making that accusation rather than a valid complaint. The typical context where a "tone policing" accusation arises is when a social justice warriors (SJWs), feminists, and other politically activist types are engaging in verbally and psychologically abusive behavior and are called out for it. It is also often paired with implicit or explicit accusations of racism, sexism, or some other assignment of identity-based hate, along with downplaying their own aggressive behaviors as mere anger and frustration rather than bullying and abuse.

In essence, the accusation of "tone policing" is a tactic to reverse victim and offender, enabling a verbally abusive person to continue abusing, bullying, and threatening others under the false notion of being oppressed if forced to adhere to notions of respectful, professional, or polite conduct.

The Dell Inspiron 14-7415 already comes with a NVMe PCIe SSD, but there's a problem: it's the far less common M.2 2230 form factor. There is plenty of room for a M.2 2280 drive...and if you open the machine, there's no mount post to actually put such a drive in the machine. This video shows you how to remove the SSD mount bracket and move the mount post to the 2280 position so you can install any common M.2 2280 SSD in place of the tiny M.2 2230 one.
