On this, our 75th anniversary, we pause to reflect. From our humble beginnings to now, we are thankful for all those contributors to the Wallops mission. We are proud of our legacy of the past 75 years and we are excited for what is to come in the next 75 years.
We s-s-see you, VIPER! A Terrier-Improved Malemute suborbital sounding rocket launched at 9:15 p.m. EDT, May 26, from Wallops Flight Facility carrying the VIPER experiment to study Earth’s ionosphere.
LIFTOFF A Black Brant XII carrying the KiNET-X mission launched at 8:36 pm ET. The mission is releasing vapor tracers 9-10 minutes after launch at about 217-249 miles altitude over the Atlantic Ocean and 540-560 miles downrange from Wallops, just north of Bermuda.
When Northrop Grumman’s Antares rocket heads to space on Nov. 6, its precious cargo will be aboard the Cygnus spacecraft S.S. Sally Ride, named after the first American woman in space.

Second rocket A Black Brant IX sounding rocket launched at 1:56 pm ET carrying the second Dynamo-2 experiment to study the electrical current in Earth’s ionosphere called the dynamo. Dr. Pfaff reported they received great data while flying through the strong dynamo currents.
