Instructions for updating using Wi-Fi

The firmware on your SmartCast Home Theater Display will automatically update the first time you connect your Home Theater Display to the internet. If a subsequent update is sent out the Display will automatically download it when the Display is powered off and once downloaded, will automatically install it. After your Display has updated, you will receive a message the first time you power it on saying a new update has been installed.

If for some reason your SmartCast Home Theater Display hasn't received the update or your device didn't fully download the update, try the below steps:

  • Press the Menu button on your VIZIO Remote.
  • Select the System Option.
  • Select the Check for Updates Option.

If your TV is not downloading the update, and you have tried the above option you can manually download the update by clicking on the below link.

Instructions for Updating Using a Thumb Drive

Click Here To Download the Most Current Firmware Version

  • Download the Firmware Version from the above link.
  • Once downloaded, extract the .zip file (1 .zip file with 2 files inside), and place the 2 files onto a USB drive. Make sure there is nothing else on the USB drive and do not put the files in any kind of folder. VIZIO recommends using a 2gb flash drive and the flash drive must be FAT formatted.
  • Turn the TV on and place the TV on an input with no content showing. You should see the "No Signal" message.
  • Insert the newly prepared flash drive into the USB slot.
  • A banner will appear at the top of the display acknowledging the installation of a new software
  • The TV will then reboot (power off and then power on).
  • When the TV powers back on it will show a progress bar. When the progress bar is full, the TV will reboot.
  • To verify the new software has been installed, press the menu button on your VIZIO remote and select System, then System Information. The Version should match the above version. Be sure you are looking at "Version" and not "Cast Version".
