Now that Putin has killed — directly or indirectly — Aleksey Navalny, we should perhaps spare a thought for another prominent dissident: would Jimmy Lai suddenly “die” in jail? If that happens I’m sure there will be a round of verbal condemnations from various state leaders but other than that, Beijing / Hong Kong will most likely get away with it, right? Any adverse impact on Beijing would be minimal…
