Klonoa Chronicles #25

Klonoa Chronicles is a series of tweets by Klonoa’s original creator, Hideo Yoshizawa, that give insights into the development of the games he had a hand in making. Below is a translation along with the original Japanese text.

クロノアクロニクル　第２５回！ 先週は私がエンディングのイメージを伝えるために描いたラフ絵コンテを公開しましたが、今週はそれで説明を受けたビジュアルチーフのあらゐ君が描き起こしてくれた絵コンテを大公開！！ 

Klonoa Chronicles #25! Last week I showed you a rough storyboard I drew to give you an idea of the ending, and this week I’m showing you a storyboard drawn by Arai, the visual chief, who was briefed on it!

私のラフ絵コンテをあらゐ君が脚色込みで清書してくれたのです。 レフィスもクロノアも私より少しよく描けてますね(笑)　さすがです！

Arai-kun did a clean copy of my rough storyboard, including the adaptation. Both Lephise and Klonoa are drawn a little better than I did.

この辺はパペットDISP.で創るため、こんなに絵を使う事は到底無理なんですけどね。 ま、まずはイメージ膨らまして自由に描いてもらいました。 

Since this area is shown via Puppet DISP., it is impossible to use so many drawings. Well, first of all, I asked him to draw freely to expand his ideas.

セリフは私が書いたシナリオをあらゐ君が膨らませて書いてますね。 この後、私の赤ペンが入ってバシバシカットされてしまうわけですが…（笑）。 

The dialogue was written by Arai-kun, who expanded on the scenario I had written. After that, my red pen was inserted and the lines were cut… (laughs).

最初はナハトゥムと戦った場所でそのままこのシーンになっていたのでバルーやおばばやシードフ王なんかもいますが、ムービーにシームレスに繋げるために、クロノアとヒューポーのふたりだけで後日レフィス像の崖の上でとなったんですね。

The scene was initially set in the same place where they fought Nahatomb, so Balue, Granny, King Seadoph, and others are there, but in order to seamlessly connect them to the ending movie, it was later set at the cliff top of the Lephise statue with just Klonoa and Huepow.

ついにお別れの時がやってきました…。

ヒューポーは我慢できずに振り返り、追いかけてクロノアの手を掴みます。 そう、私のコンテでは精霊のままだったのでリングでしたが、この時点では手を掴んでいました。 

Huepow could not bear it and turns around and grabs Klonoa’s hand in pursuit. Yes, in version it was a ring because he was still only a spirit, but at this point he was grabbing his hand.

クロノアーッ！　ヒューポーォォォォォ！ おぉ、いい所ですが、今週はここまでです。次週この続きから。 つづく
