receive multi year old confused bug/feature request from a former CEO
why
are there not other people who can immediately answer the questions instead of playing broken telephone when it arrives to me, to go find them
do you not have better things to do with your time and other directional priorities for the company or should i really muck around this low priority thing?
i guess i just lack the CEO M I N D S E T, also the compensation package -
Big boss: Last year we had much more revenue and profits than our expectations, and this success is thanks to all of you. Thank you! You made an excellent work! Impressive!
Some employee: Can we all get a raise?
Big boss: Wtf that question again? No way!5 -
I was really teasing myself about it a week ago, but I definitely think now that building a language server before I try to get people to try Orchid is the right call.
There is a ceiling to the quality of error reporting without editor support, and because I'm not happy with the best I could've possibly gotten, I didn't really put that much effort into it. Before I got started on the language server, the interpreter would fail with the first error.
Because with LSP the new theoretical limit of DX is the lack of type information which still isn't great but it's a problem I already live with, I'm compelled to meet that limit by perfecting error detection.
It also helps that the interpreter's startup time is 2ms so I can simply run it in thread on every keystroke to generate truly live, basically instantaneous feedback. -
Writing a new tool, and it's looking pretty slick so far.
This is much better than meetings upon meetings. Maybe I should ask for a demotion so I can be writing code more often?6 -
being physically disabled is such a nightmare. i have experienced a whole different personality of being dependent on others , being incapable of basic tasks and feeling incomplete all the times. it's very humbling, and i have found a whole new respect for human body and social conduct.
just want to get whole again. don't know how long its going to take a humerus arm fracture to join back on is own, now that i got a plate screwed to the broken parts to keep them together.
the doctors will probably ask me to remove the external brace after a few months followed by exercises for next more months the complete bends/stretch will probably take 6-9 months and bone will join enough in 1-2 year after which i could get the plate removed (this is the happy case, not considering the high risk of my bones getting permanently twisted or plate getting envolped by bone mass )
everything simply sucks till then. imagine getting pushed back in your life by 2+ yrs in your prime age of 25.
farewell to my dreams of adventure sports, senior goals and gappy marriage .
folks, don't do stupid stuff that can get your body into trouble, you WILL regret.4 -
Judging by the amount of bitcoin recovery ad spam here on devrant, there must be a huge amount of people somehow losing their bitcoins on a daily basis.
Thank god those altruistic scammers… *ahem* I mean hackers of course… are there to help.7 -
A local employer is getting desperate in my area I think. My wife owns a business and talks to people from all sorts of backgrounds. Today a hiring manager that employs software engineers talked to my wife. My wife mentioned that I write software. They now want to talk to me. I have seen their adverts and thought about applying. Pretty sure they will pay a lot more than my current employer.
I think the universe might be telling me something.2 -
I waa pretty sure fortune cookies were getting weirder... but seriously, it's gotten THIS bad? Not a fortune, nor a proverb, just a one-liner on political finance?
Just seems extra messed up that you can now be prompted to discuss national debt via fortune cookie from chinese take-out. We do owe the most to china afterall. Yet fortune cookies are invented by us(and typically one of the few things produced stateside). Just seems extra off... -
Nextjs is for script kiddies. This is such a fucking CHILDISH framework. The way you write queries is such fuzzy wuzzy BULLSHIT that u cant even write raw sql. "Let‘s make a service where the users can enter all of their secrets and sensitive data so that we can warn them if that data has been leaked elsewhere"
What could possibly go wrong?1 -
Visual Studio's intellisence recommending me NOT to use
ISomeService = new Service() and just Service coz the latter is faster (these are non-DI services)
is giving me a wierd anxiety. I'd prefer to stick to exposing Interfaces just as a convention but the constant💡is killing me :v
//I know the actual performance difference is neglible, but retarded mind still focuses on it even if I dont want it to1 -
Windows is getting dumber by the minute.
It now forgot how time works completely.
I setup nightmode to start at 21:30 and end at 11:15, and guess what, it just activated night mode at 11:15 (!)
I hate windows for all it's downgrading my life to pointlessness...3 -
we make sprint after sprint with literally no pause in between
and people wonder why people get burned out in this field
