Nord was a 16 year old male orca who lived at the Moskvarium. In August 2013, three orcas were captured in Russia. One of these was a young male estimated to be about 7 years old. In December of 2013, Nord was moved to a temporary holding facility, along with a female named Narnia, until the aquarium could be built. On November 5, 2014, it was announced he had been named Nord.
In December 2014, Narnia and Nord were transferred to the Moskvarium, along with a new female named Naja. The three whales could be seen performing in shows at the Moskvarium. Narnia passed away in January 2023 and Nord passed away a few months later in June. His cause of death was acute peptic ulcers.
Nord sired his first and only calf, prior to his death, with Naja. She gave birth to his daughter on December 29, 2023. The calf sadly passed away from a congenital heart defect on January 26, 2024.
