Naja gave birth to her first calf on December 29th, 2023. The calf was a female and the father is Nord. This was the first orca to be born in Russia. She passed away on January 26, 2024.
Naja gave birth to the calf after a 10 hour labor. They stated there was slow progress after labor started and had to give Naja Oxytocin to help the labor process. She immediately bonded with the calf and was a very attentive mother. Sadly, the calf passed away from a congenital heart defect on January 26, 2024.
