Greek mythology consists of all the cultural stories (legends and myths) that were told and passed on by the people of ancient Greece (“Greek Mythology” 2017).
These myths had many morals and everyday lessons that could be learned (“Greek Mythology” 2017).
These stories have ultimately become the basis of Greek culture as well as religion (“Greek Mythology” 2017).
These myths were first developed in a visual form, because only the elders knew how to read and write, they passed these stories down to the next generation in an oral form (“Greek Mythology” 2017). Roman mythology is the compilation of legendary stories that played a major role in the formation of religion in Rome (Roman Mythology” 2017).
The Roman gods, goddesses, pagans, and important individuals were featured in these stories (“Roman Mythology” 2017).

Greek mythology is one of the coolest things anyone could think of. The ideas of gods and goddesses coming down to earth to interact with the human race, is quite an amazing thing. In many cultures, gods are very important. The ancient greek culture is an example where mythology is very important to the people, the gods are everywhere in daily life. Yet with the made up mythology, they needed a place to begin with and the greeks are no exception, but the story of the gods beginning is very interesting.
Ancient art and literature and overall life was filled with influence of mythological gods and goddesses. These gods and goddesses were part of everyday life in early history. The citizens would tell stories about the divine to one another and pass them on from generation to generation. A myth, or a traditional story, concerning the early history of a people or explaining natural or social phenomenon typically involving supernatural beings or events, was part of everyday life in the ancient world. The people would pray to the divine for help with all aspects of life from childbirth and farming to war and death. Interaction between mortals and the gods was a very common daily occurrence.
The theme of fate and fortune in Romeo and Juliet is shown by the line ‘A pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life’. The word, ‘star-cross’d’ portray that the two lovers, Romeo and Juliet, will meet because the stars are aligned for them. This shows that fate is a concept in Shakespeare's play. In ancient Greece, Greek mythology began to emerge. Mythical narratives began to erupt for the purpose of giving an explanation to certain social, religious, and environmental phenomena. Greek chronicles included the gods/goddesses, heroes, and non-human creatures.
In both Greek and Roman civilizations, mythology played an important part in their empire’s success. Both of these civilizations were polytheistic religions. Likewise, they had major and minor gods and goddesses as part of their religion as well. However, since the Roman Empire conquered many cultures including the Greeks, their gods blended with many similarities with the gods that the Ancient Greeks worshipped.
Ancient Greek society fell over 2000 years ago but despite this, its mythology still continues to influence our western society. These societies are Greece and Rome. Great authors were made be the mythological works they wrote. Homer was a famous author who is best known for his epics.
