Naja

Naja, also known as Naya, is an 11 year old female orca who lives at the Moskvarium. She was captured in Russia in July 2014.

On December 21, 2014, it was confirmed that she had joined orcas Narnia and Nord at the Moskvarium. She may have lived in Sochi prior to her arrival. She can often be seen performing with Nord. She spent a lot of time with Narnia, though Narnia passed away in January 2023. She had began training for waterworks soon after her arrival to Moskvarium, but those efforts were stopped. It was confirmed in August 2017, that her official name is Naja/Naya. She had been known as Malishka and Juliet as well. Juliet is her stage name.

In October 2023, Moskvarium confirmed that Naja was pregnant with her first calf. She gave birth on or around December 29, 2023 to a female calf. The calf's father is Nord. Naja gave birth to the calf after a 10 hour labor. They stated there was slow progress after labor started and had to give Naja Oxytocin to help the labor process. Naja and the calf are bonding and the next steps are watching for successful nursing.
