Plaza Elementary School will close permanently June 18.
The School Board voted 7-4 on Tuesday night to send Plaza’s students and staff to other schools next year. Board members cited the need to save money in tight budget times and reduce excess elementary capacity.
After the vote, about 20 Plaza staffers walked out of the boardroom, several in tears.
