Bjossa's Calf was a female Icelandic killer whale calf at the Vancouver Aquarium. She born there on March 8th, 1995. Her mother was Bjossa and her father was Finna. She passed away only moments after her birth due to a ruptured umbilical cord.

The calf was born at the Vancouver Aquarium in front of visitors on March 8th, 1995 to Bjossa. This calf was her third, with neither of her previous calves surviving longer than a few months. [1]
Death[]
Tragically, the calf died only moments after birth due to a ruptured umbilical cord, something that is inoperable in cetaceans. Vancouver Aquarium allowed Bjossa to stay with her deceased calf for a short period of time in order to mourn. [1]
20 days after her calf's death, Bjossa was put on Regu-Mate to suppress estrus and prevent pregnancy.
