  1. 61 orcas currently reside in captivity. Of the 61:
  2. 31 were captive born at parks world wide.
  3. 24 were captured. 6 from Iceland and 18 from Russia.
  4. 2 were rescued, one in Argentina and the other in the Netherlands.
  5. Ulises is currently the largest whale in captivity, weighing just under 10,000 lbs!
  6. Corky II is the oldest whale alive in captivity. Amazingly, she is also the oldest captive cetacean alive in human care. Corky II's estimated birth year is around 1964.
  7. Katina has successfully given birth and raised all of her calves making her the most successful female breeding whale in captivity.
  8. Orkid is the oldest captive born killer whale alive and was the second to survive being born under human care. She was born on the 23rd of September, 1988.
