"The owners of [Blitz Games] though were huge fans of Pac Man and really didn't want to give up on it. Over the years they made many terrible decisions and were pretty hopeless when it came to actually running a business but they were always super enthusiastic about the games and they LOVED Pac Man. So we then started pitching endless ideas to Namco to try to revive the project. At one point I remember we were talking about it being a Mario Kart clone! In the end we managed to sell in the idea of a much less ambitious, more regular platformer, and I'm guessing we did it for a significant loss (its a huge IP, it will bring in other work, blah blah blah...)"
